Erin and Mike

Dear Birth Mother,

Hi there! We are Mike and Erin. Thank you for considering us to be your child’s adoptive parents. Although we have not met, we admire the strength and courage you have in wanting what is best for your child. Adoption is such a brave and selfless decision, and we will always have the utmost respect for you. We hope our words and sentences will let you know what is in our hearts and will give you a glimpse of who we are.

Our Story
We have been together for over six years, married for four years and cannot wait to become parents through the miracle of adoption. Adoption is something that has been in our hearts for a while and we are so excited to begin this journey and fulfill our dreams of becoming parents.

Mike proposed to Erin while spending her birthday weekend in Boston after catching a game at Fenway Park. At our Rehearsal Dinner, Erin’s best friend, Michelle, gave Erin a pink New York Yankees hat and she gave Mike a navy Boston Red Sox hat. She joked with us that marriage will always be about compromise, and we wore the hats the entire night. We love to laugh together!

We truly are best friends and our love continues to grow! Our life is blessed with love, happiness, wonderful family and friends, as well as great opportunities. We enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling, and the outdoors. We both share a love of baseball – Erin is a faithful Boston Red Sox fan and Mike is an avid New York Yankees fan. We enjoy trips to Fenway Park and Yankee Stadium and enjoy some healthy team competition once in a while!

We cannot wait to share our life and experiences with a child!

About Erin
I am the older of two children. My parents have been married for over 35 years and provided me with a wonderful childhood full of family traditions, vacations to Disney World and the beaches, and plenty of sporting activities. My parents live fifteen minutes away in the house I grew up in, and they look forward to spending the month of February golfing in Florida. We love visiting them during the February school vacation. I am very close to my parents and look to them for love and support. My mom is one of my best friends. We talk daily and love going shopping together! My parents cannot wait to welcome their first grandchild into our family.

I am a second grade teacher and come from a family of teachers – my mother, my brother, several aunts and uncles are all teachers. One of my favorite activities as a child was playing school because I always loved children and I knew one day I wanted to be just like my mom.

I am very close to my brother as well, and he lives in the same town. Kevin is a Physical Education and Health teacher, and he will be marrying his fiancée Brittany next summer! We all get together quite a bit! There is always fun to be had like our annual Pumpkin Carving night, ladder golf tournaments, or a little “Just Dance” on the Wii.

Things I Love About Erin By Mike
Erin is a very warm, loving and compassionate person. She shows this at home, with her family, and at school with her students. Erin has such a love of life and for children. She has always been drawn to children and always talks about how she cannot wait for us to become parents. As a second grade teacher, Erin spends a great deal of time passing on her knowledge and developing not only the minds of her students but also passing on her love and compassion for life. I love how excited she always is at the end of each day to share her stories about her students with me. She makes such a difference in so many lives! When not working, Erin enjoys activities at home such as walking and reading, and she tries to get us to the beach as often as possible with family and friends. Erin will be a wonderful mother. She will be nurturing, caring, and compassionate. She will pass on her beliefs, morals, and her general love of life. I truly cannot wait to have a family with Erin!

About Mike
I grew up in a small town in Connecticut. My family is a very close knit, loving family. My mother is a schoolteacher and my father is retired and had owned his own business for over 35 years. My sister, Michelle, is four years older than me and is married living about two hours away. Although my family all lives a few hours from each other, we try to talk and get together as often as possible.

I currently work as an engineer and have been with the same company for almost 12 years. I love my job and work hard at it, but I always know when to separate my home life from my work life. In my free time, I like to go walking with Erin and we love to travel together. I enjoy volunteering in my community at our local fire station and in our town house community. I love spending time with family and friends and cannot wait for the day that Erin and I are parents. I look forward to playing with our child at the park, going to our local community events, sporting events, and helping him/her with homework.

Things I Love About Mike By Erin
Mike is a great husband, and I am so thankful for the life we share. Mike has an ability to always make me laugh regardless of the situation. He always sees the positive in things. Mike is kind, thoughtful, and he has a genuine interest in helping others. Our neighbors often call on Mike to change the batteries in their smoke detectors or even help them change their light bulbs. Mike is great at home projects, and he can fix just about anything. Mike recently remodeled my parent’s bathroom. Also, I am very lucky because Mike loves to cook!

Mike is going to be an amazing father. He loves to interact with kids and is always making them laugh. Mike recently taught our friends children about turning on our gas fireplace using magic. I looked up to see him standing in front of the switch of the fireplace will all the girls lined up saying “Abracadabra Poof!” Mike always puts his family first, and he will have so much love, laughter, and knowledge to offer our children.

Our Home
We live in a rural, family-oriented neighborhood in Rhode Island. Our home is located in a small townhouse community. We have an open floor plan that is great for entertaining with a beautiful fireplace in our living room as well as a media room in our finished basement. The children always love to hang out in our basement to play air hockey and watch movies. Our neighborhood is diverse and includes families with young children as well as retirees. We feel very lucky to have such great neighbors who have become wonderful friends.

We are minutes away from a beautiful bike path located along the Blackstone River. Each year our community has a wonderful 4th of July parade, a summer festival in the park, and a Christmas tree lighting event at our local fire station. We are lucky to live in a community that is situated so we can take day trips to the beach, Newport, Block Island, or Boston. There is always fun to be had, and we cannot wait for the day we can include a child in our life!

Our Promise
As parents, our first priority will be our children. We promise to provide unconditional love, support, and guidance. We will provide day-to-day learning experiences for your child as well as a wonderful education. We will take trips to the library, the bookstore, bake chocolate chip cookies together, and visit the zoo. We will raise your child with the morals, values, and faith we were brought up with so that he/she develops a love of life.

From the very beginning, we will be open and honest with your child about his/her adoption story. Your child will know that all families are created differently and adoption is a wonderful gift – a gift you gave our family.

Thank you...

We wish you all the best and you will always have our sincere gratitude. If you would like to speak with us about adopting your child or have any questions for us, please contact an Adoption Advisor at AdoptHelp by calling 1-800-637-7999 toll-free.
