Gen & Zee

Dear Birthmother,
Hi! We are Gen and Zee (Genevieve and Andrew), and 4 year old, Casey Mae. Thank you so much for taking the time to read our letter and getting to know our family. We truly admire your strength, courage and love for your child as you look to adoption with your desire to give this child an amazingly wonderful life with a loving, secure and happy home. We are sincerely humbled that you might consider us as parents for your little one and we are so grateful for the opportunity to share with you the kind of life we can provide. For us, you are a fairy godmother, granting a wish that will complete us as a family. We wish you love, peace and happiness.

The two of us met nine years ago at a Christmas party where we secretly eyed each other across the room. When we met in the middle, we both felt like we had known each other our whole lives and that we had found our soul mates. Two years later, we were married on a beautiful ranch surrounded by rolling hills, horses and all our friends and family. A couple of years later, we were joined by our daughter, Casey Mae.

Our greatest joy has been raising Casey Mae. We watch in awe as she grows and learns each day. As her beautiful personality blossoms, we are so proud of her in everything she does. It is our hope, desire and dream to share our love with another child. We have always talked of adopting even before Casey Mae was born and know in our hearts that adoption is the right way to make our dreams come true. We will cherish our littlest family member. We feel so blessed to have an extremely happy family and are so eager to share that excitement for life with another child who will complete us as a family.

About Gen (by Zee)
The best word to describe Gen is: amazing. She’s amazingly beautiful. Amazingly talented. Amazingly patient. An amazing mother. An amazing wife. And the most amazing friend I could ever want. When I first met her I was captivated by her travels across the globe, her experiences in Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and other far-flung places I wished I could have gone. She would scuba dive, take helicopter tours, ride scooters, hike deserts & mountains, visit hill tribes, and experience new cultures. Since we have been together, she continues to amaze me every day with how gracefully she handles life. There is no situation that comes up that she cannot handle. She is the most amazing mother to our daughter, Casey Mae. Whether it’s sitting down to teach her ABC’s, learning a new song together, playing more games than I ever knew existed or putting a Band Aid on a scraped knee, Gen carries herself with such poise and grace. I can tell her anything and I know Casey Mae and her future younger brother or sister will always be able to tell her anything. She’s a great listener, has a beautiful heart and makes my life complete. I love her to no end.

About Zee (By Gen)
Zee is my best friend and the love of my life. His honesty, loyalty, kindness and silly sense of humor made me fall instantly in love with him…along with his gorgeous blue eyes and his cheeky smile! He’s an awesome husband and watching him be a daddy is the best – reading books to Casey Mae, telling her stories, giving her shoulder rides & baths, and crawling around on all fours playing doggies! Every day I fall in love with him again and again. He always makes me laugh…even when I’m trying to be mad and even when he’s trying to be mad! He’s constantly positive and upbeat, looking at the sunny side of life. He has a heart of gold and is always striving to become bigger and better at home and in business. He is a caring and loving husband and father, and always puts his family first above all else. I could never ask for a better partner in life. We make a wonderful team and I could never imagine my life without him. He has many nicknames (like Zee) but my favorite for him is Squash, earned because as I love him so much, I just want to squash him every time we hug!

Casey Mae
Casey Mae is a very gorgeous, loving little girl who has just turned four. She’s our ‘squashlet’, ‘bunnylet’ and little pumpkin! She loves animals, coloring, painting, puzzles, taking lots of photos, and playing big sister to her baby doll. She loves her classes in yoga and gymnastics. She spends lots of time outdoors in our garden on the swing and trampoline, throwing pebbles into the creek and playing with her animals. Her favorite thing in the world is climbing on her Dad, washing up with mommy, riding ponies, pretending to be a dog (or a cat), cuddling Pancho and watching Tinkerbell over and over! She is very excited to be a big sister to a new baby and can’t wait to help mommy and daddy. She’s practicing already with her little baby doll so ‘I can be ready, Mommy’. Casey Mae has brought so much joy, laughter and happiness in our lives, we know she will provide the same for a sister or brother and be their greatest friend.

Our Home
We live in Southern California in a beautiful canyon home surrounded by green trees and state parks in a wonderful kid friendly neighborhood. A children’s park is behind us, the state park in front of us and only a few minutes drive down a beautiful winding road, is the beach. Every morning our cat Pancho, and our dogs Crispie and Crunchie, come and greet us, waddling into our bedroom, tails wagging while licking each other and Pancho all over, with a ‘good morning!’ bark to go! In addition, we have the squirrel family who live in our garden, frogs in our creek and a rooster nearby who chimes in each day. This is our dream place to live and a magical place for children to play, learn and grow.

Our Family life
We’re a fun, friendly, hugging family. As parents we are calm and loving. We believe a child’s true potential is realized through love, compassion, support and guidance. We like to do all the parent things like dress up for Halloween, be the tickle monster, read and act out books every night at bedtime, teach Casey Mae to swim, travel to exciting places, ride ponies, paint and play together, visit Grandma and Papa, be active at school, spend the holidays with our extensive families, celebrate birthdays with lots of friends, have pillow fights, go strawberry picking, pumpkin carving, Christmas tree decorating…anything that’s fun and silly, we do our best to be there!

Both of us work as published authors which means that we work at home. This enables us to drop off & pick up Casey Mae from school, be there for her for school activities, attend school functions & extra activities, and the same will go for her little brother or sister.

Each weekend we enjoy either going to the beach, chilling out at home in the garden, the park, or taking the dogs for a hike. In the summer, if not traveling, we spend most of the time at the beach, swimming, having picnics with our friends and doing one of Casey Mae’s favorite things - walking down the pier going on the bumper cars, the Ferris wheel and drinking milkshakes. During the winter, we travel back east for Thanksgiving and then have a traditional English Christmas at Gen’s family home in England. When we’re back home in California, we love to escape for a weekend to the mountains before the snow disappears, where we rent a little cabin and play in the snow – we both love snowboarding and Casey Mae gets to build her snowman!

Our Families
Both of us come from very close-knit large families with a strong circle of love and support. Gen grew up in a house full of lots of love, laughter and music (mom was a concert pianist), with the beach as her back garden. With her dad, a Concorde pilot, Gen also got to travel the world. Casey Mae loves flying to England seeing all her English cousins who completely spoil her with loads of love and who all can’t wait to have another little munchkin to spoil!

Zee comes from just outside Allentown, PA. His mom was a pastry chef and the fact that she now lives very close to us here in California, means Casey Mae is always helping Grandma cook the yummiest cookies and cakes ever! We see as much of Grandma and Papa as we can, having dinner at their house, our house, restaurants or at their yacht club. We even travel to spend time with them at their summer home on Block Island. They adore babysitting and insist that we go on as many dinner dates as we can, just so they can spoil Casey Mae. They can’t wait to be able to spoil another grandchild!

Our Values for our kids
Life with us, includes, but is not limited to the following 10 things:

  1. We realize that there are many paths of happiness and we will encourage our children to pursue their passions and follow their dreams. We will create a life where they will be exposed to all the world has to offer with every door of opportunity opened so that they can follow their dreams with confidence.
  2. They will be raised in a home that will teach them to be honest, kind, loving and compassionate.
  3. We will devote our lives to providing our children with a nurturing home filled with love and laughter, an excellent education, lots of travel, lots of music (playing an instrument or two), reading books, learning a second language, fun sports (Casey Mae loves ice-skating), and a respect for the diversity of people that make up our community and live around the world.
  4. We will give our children exposure to the world’s religions, making sure they believe strongly in helping others, giving to others, being honest and loving, and encourage them to help make a difference in the world.
  5. We will provide security and more importantly, our children will be loved and cherished always immeasurably and unconditionally but mostly we will always be there for them, through thick and thin in life’s ups and downs.

In closing
You are an extraordinary woman to consider placing a baby for adoption and we wholeheartedly respect you and wish you nothing but peace and understanding. Your child will always know that this was the ultimate act of love for them. We want you to know that with your incredible gift of life, you will be giving us the miracle of family, for which we are eternally grateful. We thank you for getting to know us and hope that you find everything you wish for.

Sincerely,
Gen and Zee
