Choose A Family : Parent Profile

Gina and Ray

Dear Birthmother,
We can’t put into words how excited we are to be writing this letter to you. What an amazing and courageous person you are to consider adoption for your baby. We can only imagine what a difficult decision this is for you to make. We are deeply touched to be considered as parents for your baby and that, if we are chosen, know that we will love your child with all our hearts.

About Us
Upon meeting seven years ago (through mutual friends) we both felt an immediate connection and two years later on Christmas Eve we were engaged and married nine months later. After a beautiful wedding (at a southern plantation in Virginia) and honeymoon in Italy and Ireland we were ready to start a family. Unfortunately fate had a different plan for us when we discovered we could not have children of our own. Adoption was an easy choice for us at that point due to our strong desire to raise a family regardless of how that came to be.

As a couple we enjoy traveling (several of our favorite places being Italy, Ireland, Sedona, Arizona and Santa Fe, New Mexico) and taking in the various histories and cultures of these wonderful places and look forward to continuing these experiences with our own child. We also enjoy many outdoor activities (which include sailing, hiking and gardening), spending time with a variety of friends and attending sporting events. We are both avid football and baseball fans and try to take in several games a year. Ray loves fish whether it is out on the boat reeling them in with friends or taking care of several of his beautiful fish tanks which Gina finds enjoyment in as well (particularly that of naming the majority of the fish!). Gina enjoys cooking and decorating in her spare time and has made many an enjoyable meal as well as made the home into a warm and loving environment.

Gina about Ray
From the moment I met Ray seven years ago I knew he was the one. He is my best friend and soul mate. Ray is a strong, generous and honorable person. He has such a loving heart and is always the first to help anyone out that might need it. Ray loves to play music in his spare time and has a beautiful singing voice. His gift to me on the day of our marriage was the performance of a song he had previously written and recorded for me. Ray is extremely close with his sister’s two children and is the much loved uncle with several of my siblings children. Through his interactions with our combined nieces and nephews (all eleven of them), it is easy to see how wonderful, caring, supportive and loving a father Ray will be. Ray is a hard worker who thoroughly enjoys his job (as a software engineer) and has been fortunate for the opportunities that this has provided him (one of which is being able to work from home). I count myself extremely blessed to have Ray as my life partner and look forward to the moment that I can place our child into his arms for the first time.

Ray about Gina
Gina is my best friend and love of my life. I cannot imagine facing life’s challenges with anyone else but her. She is a thoughtful, loving and caring person who places family and friends above anything else. Whether it be through volunteer work at fundraising events (through her work as a bank lender in the non-profit and healthcare industry), a graduation, birthday celebration, confirmation or sporting event for any of her many nieces or nephews, taking care of me when I am sick or just catching up with friends, Gina always finds the time to do it all. Gina had a wonderful upbringing in a very close-knit family raised by two wonderful parents who I have grown very close to. Gina is a wonderful aunt and remains very close to all our nieces and nephews. When I think of Gina as a mother it brings a warm smile to my face and touches a special place in my heart. With her strong commitment to family and her loving nature I know that Gina will make a great mother.

Our Families
We are both fortunate to have a close and loving relationship with our families who are all anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new bundle of joy. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Gina has three siblings with whom she shares a special bond. David (her brother) and wife Lori live in Kernersville, North Carolina and have six children. Michele (her sister) and husband Doug live in Granby, Connecticutt and have three children. Lauren (her sister) and her husband Terry live in New York City with their adorable cat, Ziggy, and have plans on starting a family soon. Gina’s parents (John & Joanne) are both retired and reside in Williamsburg, VA with Gina’s furry ‘other sister’ (Holly). Holly is a very cute miniature schnauzer who keeps both of Gina’s parents extremely active. Though spread out along the East Coast they all get together several times a year (Thanksgiving, Christmas, graduations, birthdays…) and keep in constant touch with one another.

Born in Rhode Island and raised in Massachusetts, Ray also has three siblings with whom he shares a special relationship. Christine (his sister) and husband Gary live in East Providence, Rhode Island with Christine’s two children (from a former marriage). Michael (Christine’s twin brother) is single and resides half the year in Stamford, CT and half in France where he is employed as a landscape architect. Tom (his brother) is also single and resides in Connecticut as well. Ray’s parents (Betty and Jan) live in the same town as Ray & Gina (Seekonk, MA) and look forward to many babysitting and spoiling opportunities. We are very fortunate to have Ray’s family close by which has often resulted in spur of the moment gatherings.

Both of Ray & Gina’s parents lead enriching lives (through their love of travel, music and cooking) and very much look forward to sharing that with their new grandchild.

Our Home
We live in Southern Massachusetts within an hour of both the mountains and the beach. We own a beautiful home with a good-sized back yard and a two leveled deck attached to the house. The neighborhood is very safe and family oriented with several young families living on our street and an elementary school located at the end. Part of the elementary school has several athletic fields located on it and most weekends you can take in a baseball, softball or soccer game. Our town has an excellent public library with a recent addition of a walking park located right next door as well as a wildlife refuge which is ideal for children to explore the outdoors and learn about conservation. We attend masses at a local Catholic church and look forward to bringing up our child in this church environment.

Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit about us. Though we have yet to meet, you already hold a special place in our hearts for the huge gift and joy you are about to bring to our lives.

With warmest regards.

Gina & Ray
