Choose A Family : Parent Profile
Judy
Dear Birthmother
Hello, my name is Judy. Thank you for considering me as an adoptive mom for your baby. This is an important and challenging decision you are making, and I admire your thoughtfulness as you explore different opportunities for you and your baby. To help you get to know me, I want to share with you a bit about my life, the people I love and the things I enjoy doing.
I love children and always have. Their innocence, curiosity, and incredible capacity to absorb the world fascinate me. I have wanted to adopt a child for a long time but waited until my professional life was established so that I could offer a stable secure life for the child. I am blessed with a wonderful, supportive family and friends who will be a central part of my child’s life. I am confident that my daughter or son will feel the full support and love of my extended family and friends from the moment they join my family.
I will encourage a strong sense of self and purpose so that your child develops confidence, interests, and friendships that offer a happy life. I envision the love, laughter and joy already in my life growing and ever increasing as your child becomes a part of my home and family.
With Love,
Judy
Things I Love
I love family, friends, traveling, cooking, gardening, exercising, reading and summer evenings on my back porch. My family is a central part of my life. I’ve learned many of my values from them and enjoy spending time with them. My friends are another wonderful source of laughter and support. My family and friends are looking forward to scheduling “play dates” for our children.
I enjoy traveling with friends and family and have visited Kenya, Greece, Turkey, Switzerland, Germany, England, Haiti and Canada. I love learning about the world by listening to people share their own stories about growing up in their homelands. I still have many places on my “to go” list and am looking forward to sharing the beauty of different lands and cultures with my child.

My Home and Community
At home, I enjoy hosting barbecues and having “game night” with friends. We sit out on my back porch and enjoy laughter and deep (and not so-deep) talk. The porch looks out over my back yard, and the scent of pine trees and roses often fills the evening air. I’ve planted about 15 roses over the last couple of years and the aroma is lovely when they are blooming.
I think my home, neighborhood and community will be a wonderful, safe place for a child to grow, explore and learn about the world. A beautiful, tree-filled park is just down the street from my home. It has a small lake and wonderful playground. Friends and I frequently meet there to walk/jog and visit. A strong elementary school is just down the street from my home as well.

My Education and Work
When I first graduated from university, I worked as a physical therapist in a rehabilitation hospital in southern California. I loved helping individuals relearn how to walk and get back to doing the things that were important to them after an injury. I later went back to school and received my doctoral degree and now develop new technology and treatment approaches to help individuals improve while they are in the hospital and as they transition back home. I value education a great deal and will ensure my child has the opportunity to pursue their passions in schools and universities that promote excellence, creativity and diversity. I will be an engaged parent who provides encouragement and support as he or she learns and grows.
My work provides me with solid income and financial security, which allows me great flexibility to build my life fully around the needs of my baby. In addition, the rehabilitation center has a wonderful onsite day care program, just around the corner from my office. This will enable me to spend extended time with my child while at work. I also have a great health insurance program and my child will be fully covered by my health insurance from the minute he or she joins my family. Finally, as a researcher, I have great flexibility in my schedule and will have the freedom to build my life around my child’s needs. My colleagues at work know that I will be adopting and are incredibly supportive.
My Family
I am truly blessed to have a wonderful, loving and supportive family who has taught me the importance of integrity, commitment, and respect. My mom and dad are vibrant and can’t wait to have another grandchild to love and adore. My mom will, no doubt, knit a wonderful soft blanket for the little one while my dad will be contemplating the benefits of teaching a toddler to golf.
I also have two older brothers, Rob and Will. Rob invested many hours helping me learn to read, while Will was the one who encouraged me to take on new challenges outside of the home. I played varsity sports through high school and volleyball at university in part because of Will’s encouragement. My brothers are both thrilled that I’m adopting a child and are looking forward to being uncles.
Thank you again for reading my letter and getting to know me. Please know that whatever decision you make, I wish for a wonderful life for you and your baby. I will cherish your baby with all of my heart and do everything I can to create a loving home. My family can’t wait to welcome any child that joins our family and we will fully support and encourage this child as he or she grows and learns.
It would be an honor to get to know you, if this is of interest to you. I’m very open to meeting, talking by phone or sharing letters so that I can learn more about you and the dreams you have for your child.
Very Kind Regards,
Judy
