Mark & Lynn

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. We have enormous respect for you and for your decision to consider placing your child for adoption. While we cannot know what you are going through, you are showing a pure and unselfish love for your baby that we think is nothing short of amazing. Through this letter, we hope you get to know our family and see the love, life and opportunity we hope to offer your child. Thank you so very much for considering us.

Our Family Welcome!
We can really be defined as a family of seven – of course four of the members are of the furry variety! We are Mark, Lynn and Michael, and our wonderful pets are Jake, Samantha, Max and Reiley. We are a happy and committed family with so much love that we want to share it with another child. We know that we are not perfect and don’t have the answers to all of life’s problems and challenges, but what we do have is faith, love and commitment to one another. We feel that if we have that, we can face just about anything. As you make this very important decision, please know that we promise to love your baby, always and forever, no matter what. Our family is made richer by our cats Jake and Max, and our dogs Samantha and Reiley. Jake is our lap cat and a regular purr machine! Max loves to cozy up in our bed. Samantha is half Labrador, half Weimaraner and 100 percent wonderful dog. She LOVES people – and cats! Reiley is a Golden Retriever/German Shepherd mix, and you will never meet a more loving and relaxed dog. In the summer, neighborhood kids take him on walks.

We live in a quiet neighborhood in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., which is close enough to enjoy the museums, parks and culture, but far enough away to live in a small community that we love. Our fenced back yard has plenty of space, and the neighborhood has many places where kids can safely play and just enjoy being kids. We have playgrounds, a community swimming pool, tennis courts and walking and biking trails nearby.

We both feel it is our responsibility to raise children to be good, self sufficient, contributing members of society – but if there’s one thing we like to do, it is have fun! Like many families, we enjoy Disney World and try to go every year. Closer to home, we enjoy participating in Michael’s scouting program, camping, and exploring the rich history and museums near the nation’s capital. We spend a lot of time with family and friends. Michael loves to play with his cousin Taylor who lives nearby, and with his cousins in Texas, ranging in age from 2 through 8.

Lynn, by Mark
My wife Lynn was born into a military family with loving parents and her older sister Diane, who was adopted from a young mother. Being in the Army, her father was assigned to posts all over the world. When her Dad’s job moved, so did the family. Moving so often brought challenges, but it also developed Lynn’s natural ability to meet people, make new friends and adapt to new things. Lynn has always loved helping people. In high school, she volunteered as a candy striper in hospitals and nursing homes. She obtained a degree in social work and later served as a trained emergency medical technician for our local fire department. Lynn is an involved mom and supports our son Michael in all that he does. I could not have asked for a better life partner. Lynn is my best friend, and I think she is as beautiful today as she was the day we met. Lynn and I complement each other’s strengths and weaknesses. She is not only my biggest fan, she completes who I am. I’m very proud of her and thank God that I have her in my life.

Mark, by Lynn
My husband Mark is my soul mate, a very loving man who is always ready to help others. He comes from a wonderful family and has three siblings. As the son of a federal agent, Mark developed a deep respect for the law and love and honor for his country. He has carried these values into his career as a financial manager in homeland security. I met Mark while we were working our way through college. We enjoyed each other’s company and developed a friendship that became a lifelong partnership. I was drawn to Mark’s humor, his engaging personality and strong work ethic. I still admire those qualities and am so very happy and thankful to have him in my life. Mark works hard so that I can stay at home and be a fulltime Mom, and he is completely devoted to his family. My husband is and always has been my rock, and he continues to lift my spirits through laughter, love, strength and support.

Michael
Our son Michael is 13 years old, and since he could walk and talk, he has always wanted to have a little brother or sister. He is in the seventh grade and is a dedicated honor roll student, active Boy Scout member, tennis player, he is in the Jazz Band in Middle School, and proud member of our community swim team. He enjoys playing with friends from school and the neighborhood, and he has a special place in his heart for younger kids. He enjoys teaching them new things (like how to blow the really BIG bubbles), showing them his toys or maybe just showing them his best chalk drawing out on the driveway. He has a big heart, is very kind and respectful to others and always does his best to help those around him. He really looks forward to the idea of being a good role model and big brother.

We promise to provide a safe and loving home and to be the best parents we can be! We will let your child know that he or she came to be with our family because of your love and selflessness – and we will ALWAYS appreciate the special treasure that you have entrusted to us.

Sincerely,

Mark and Lynn
