Choose A Family : Parent Profile
ROBERT & LISA
We are Robert and Lisa and we are so grateful to you for making this incredibly difficult decision and choosing an adoption plan for your baby. We are excited that you have taken the time to read this letter and to gain a glimpse into our life together.
OUR LIFE TOGETHER
We met 14 years ago in Snohomish Washington while attending a mystery dinner theater and became fast friends. We shared many of the same values and interests and soon we were inseparable enjoying many of the same interests and activities that we still have today. We were married 2 years after we met and enjoyed a honeymoon in Alaska where we fished, hiked and visited with family and friends. Soon after, we moved to the Olympic Peninsula into a family home that was owned by Lisa’s grandfather that gave us the space to have animals. Robert was working for a window company and Lisa was working as a massage therapist while finishing her degree in nursing school. Lisa has been an RN for 8 years and currently works in a small community hospital and Robert still works for the same window company.
We enjoyed 11 wonderful years together in Washington enjoying close family and the outdoors before relocating to Hawaii 2 years ago. We moved to Hawaii when Robert’s company gave us a new opportunity. It was extremely difficult to make the decision to move away from family and friends but it was one of the best moves we have ever made. The people we have in our lives, family that visit, atmosphere, healthy lifestyle and community support is more than we could have ever expected. We are truly blessed to be settled and comfortable in our life in the land of the endless summer enjoying all that Hawaii has to offer. We have talked about adoption since we first met and in making the decision to bring a child into our life and writing this letter we have looked at many aspects of our life, values and relationships. We feel that we are more prepared now then we have ever been to provide a loving, safe and nurturing environment for a baby. We both have flexible schedules and are financially secure with family and close friends that are supportive and excited to be Auntie and Uncle.

ROBERT
Robert was born and raised in Seattle the fourth of 6 children. He and his siblings (Dan, Duane, Dwight Teresa and Samuel) are very close and supportive of one another. His mother Dianne and her sister (twins) were adopted at a young age so he has always felt that adoption would be a wonderful experience. He has a very large extended family of uncles, aunts and countless cousins, all with children of their own. They have a family reunion every year and there are so many that attend it is hard to remember everyone’s name. Roberts family on his father Ed’s side is very musically talented and Robert plays guitar and ukulele. He enjoys anything outdoors including fishing, hunting, hiking and gardening. Robert has two grown children from a previous marriage, Travis is 21 living and working in Washington, he is a wonderful loving and sensitive young man that takes after his father’s musical and artistic side. Travis and his father play guitar every chance they can even sometimes over the phone. Jason is 23 years old and also lives in Washington, he works in the lumber industry and has a family of his own, blessing us with a granddaughter, Kaylee. Jason is very outdoorsy like his father, they have enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting together since Jason was a young boy. Robert enjoyed coaching the boys sports teams when they were younger and never missed opportunities for quality family time taking the boys camping, to sporting events and movies at home with popcorn. Robert is very outgoing and social, loyal to his family and friends for life. He is always surprising everyone with gifts, flowers and vegetables from our homegrown garden. He is an excellent cook and has a passion for barbeque. Every time any family or friends visit they bring requests for certain meals for Robert to prepare for breakfast and dinner. Robert makes me feel like I can always be myself and he truly accepts me for who I am, forever encouraging and supportive.

LISA
Lisa was born and raised in Alaska, the middle child of 3 with an older brother and a younger sister. Her parents, Mike and Sonia have been married for 40 years, are now retired and visit several times a year for extended periods of time. Her older brother, Tom is married with 2 small children (Jake and Emma) they are so very excited to have a cousin to play with. Lisa is very close to her younger sister Lara, that lives in Oregon. Her sister visits 4-5 times a year and she can’t wait to be the “favorite” auntie. In high school Lisa played many sports and still enjoys anything outdoors or on the water. She is conservative and reserved until you get to know her then you will be best friends for life. She is loyal and very dedicated to her family and when she gives hugs you really feel how much she cares about you. She is happiest at home reading, gardening and playing with our two dogs but also loves the outdoors and never misses a chance to go hiking, biking or kayaking. When we first met Lisa had an immediate bond with both Jason and Travis who were 7 and 9 years old at the time. She embraced them both and naturally adopted the roll as their step mother and soon they were inseparable. Lisa taught the boys respect and the importance of family dinner at the table all while making them laugh and feel loved. She cheered them on at every sporting event and never passed up an opportunity for quality time with the kids. Lisa is a wonderful partner and will be an even better mother with her family values and unconditional love and support. When I am with Lisa I want to be the best person I can be, I can honestly say that she brings out the best in me.
OUR FAVORITE THINGS
BY LISA
I really enjoy the simple things in life that are spontaneous and shared with the people that mean the most to me. One of my favorite things is when Robert cooks his famous weekend breakfast. It is not so much about the food but it is a great time to spend together winding down at the end of the week (don’t tell Robert it is not about the food) I really enjoy anything outdoors and Robert usually surprises me on my birthday with a weekend getaway where we can enjoy nature. Animals have always been a big part of my life and I can not imagine not having Murphy and Harley following me around and snuggling on the couch. My family is also very important in my life, I speak to them on the phone several times a week and we never miss an opportunity to play board games and tell stories when we see each other. The thing that I love the most is when I am just about to fall asleep and Robert says “goodnight, I love you”, when he thinks I am already asleep.
BY ROBERT
One of my favorite things is spending the holidays with family and friends, sharing stories and memories while making new ones. I really enjoy playing music, it has been a big part of my life since I was a child. I also love anything outdoors and gardening, most evenings you can find me out in the back yard working in the garden. Murphy and Harley are a wonderful part of our lives and I enjoy coming home at the end of the day to spend time with them. The thing that I love the most is spending time with my family and children, as they grow older the time becomes more precious and I cherish every moment especially when Kaylee calls me “silly Grandpa“. My favorite thing is when I find notes that Lisa has left for me in hiding places like my guitar case that say have a great day, I love you.

FAMILY VALUES
Our relationship is based on honesty and respect of one another. Our personalities have always balanced each other out and we truly embrace our differences. When we do have a difference of opinion we discuss our views and sometime have to agree to disagree but never go to bed mad. With trust, patience, encouragement and respect we feel that we can support each other through anything, together. Robert and I both value education and will give your baby every opportunity to experience and excel in their educational goals. Robert is fantastic and has never ending patience with school work, science projects and coaching sports. Lisa can’t wait to read bedtime stories and plan birthday parties. Sit down family dinners are very important to us because they allow us to reconnect at the end of each day which makes the family bond stronger. Holidays have always been an important part of both of our family life, with large family gatherings, lots of food, laughs, hugs and sharing of stories.
WHERE WE LIVE
We live on the Big Island of Hawaii in a 3 bedroom home that we would love to fill with children’s laughter. Our home is at the end of a quiet dead end street, our neighbors are all very friendly and range from young couples to grandparents. We have lived here for 2 years and the friends that we have made feel like they have been a part of our lives forever. The community is very welcoming and offers a rich culture, warmth and opportunities for a bright healthy future. We live close to town, parks, beaches and schools and we frequently take part in our community parades, bike rides, fun runs and cultural festivals. We have 2 King Charles Cavalier Spaniels named Murphy and Harley. They are very sweet and spoiled rotten, very good with people and love to cuddle on the couch. Their favorite activities are chasing bubbles in the back yard and swimming at the beach. They have very distinct personalities but at the end of the day they are both mellow and ready for attention.
