Shawnee and Shawn
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our letter. We are Shawn and Shawnee and we hope that the following pages will help give you some insight into our lives and the life that we will provide your child.
We have so much respect for your decision and can’t imagine how hard this has been. We want you to know that we have so much love to give and will devote everything to your child. We will provide him/her with a great education, fun travel experiences, unconditional love, tons of hugs and kisses, all while instilling a strong set of morals and values so that s/he can be a person of good heart and character.
A little bit about us
We met in the summer of 2001 while wake boarding with mutual friends. It was love at first site and we’ve been inseparable ever since. We have been married since 2003. In 2005 we joined Shawnee’s parents and opened our own business running pizza restaurants. Working together means spending all of our days side by side – we pride ourselves on amazing mutual respect and communication. We want more than anything to share this love and respect through growing our family.
Besides working together, we spend a lot of summer weekends at Shawn’s family Lake Cabin that was hand built by his Grandfather. We kayak, wake board and fish when we vacation on the Lake and when we are back home we love to spend time with our family and friends at backyard bbqs, concerts and sporting events.
We love spending time with our 5 year old Boxer named Zimba. We take him everywhere including the Farmer’s Market where he loves to roll on his back for the kids to rub his belly.
We also love to travel. Although we got engaged in Australia, and our God Daughter lives in England – our favorite travel spots are Mexico and Hawaii. Shawnee loves to Scuba Dive, so anywhere where the ocean is warm is great.

Shawn is an amazing man and I’m so lucky to call him my best friend. He comes from a large extended family that has provided him with great role models. When children are around, they gravitate to him and he loves nothing more than to crawl around and play with them or become the human ‘jungle gym’. Family is the most important thing to Shawn and becoming a dad is something that he has been looking forward to for a long time.
Shawn is the kindest and most patient person I have ever met. Our staff of 45 employees has the utmost respect for him because of his fairness and ability to teach. He is also a complete goofball and makes me laugh all day long. He showers me with constant love and acceptance. I also admire Shawn’s love of health, nature and the environment. He is always learning about healthy choices for his body and ways that we can leave a smaller footprint on the earth.
He is also a General Contractor. Not only have I been spoiled by having my own handyman, but he loves to help our friends with their home projects as well. When he’s not working, Shawn enjoys restoring his 1966 Chevy Truck or watching the SF Giants. He played baseball from grade school through high school and has helped give me a love and appreciation for the game.

Shawnee is a very loving, giving and compassionate wife. I am so fortunate to have found my soul mate. I was immediately attracted to her outgoing personality and big beautiful smile. Shawnee has been taking care of kids since she was young. She nurtures and cares for other people’s children as if they were her own. She is a natural born mom.
Shawnee has a huge circle of girlfriends, some of whom she’s known for over 20 years. She is extremely loyal and loves to help them out in any way that she can - like having their kids over so they can have a date night together. She also has a passion for cooking – everything from catering parties, Sunday roasts or baking her delicious carrot cake. Our staff is always excited to get a batch of her chocolate chip cookies or lemon bundt cake. Shawnee also takes health seriously and loves to learn as much as she can about organic foods and healthy choices for our home.
I love her spontaneity and willingness to try anything new. She doesn’t let anything get in her way or get her down. She is the first one to laugh at herself and she makes me laugh all the time.
Our Families
We both have amazing and supportive families. We feel so blessed that our parents and grandparents live within 30 minutes of us. Shawn comes from a very large family that gets together for events all year long. Our favorite event is the annual Christmas Party, in early December. It’s a tradition that his family started in the 1950’s. Around 75 cousins, aunts/uncles and grandparents show up to eat, play and wait for Santa to arrive with gifts for the little ones.
Shawnee comes from a small, but very close knit family. We are in business with her parents, so we talk to them every day. In the fall, we love to join them at their vacation home in Hawaii. It’s a week of walking along the beach, playing in the pool and cooking family dinners. We also spend every Christmas Day with Shawnee’s family, where her mom turns their house into a winter wonderland complete with a 14 foot Christmas tree. Both of our families are so excited to have a baby join the family and join these traditions.
Our Home and Community
We live in the San Francisco Bay Area, near beaches and natural state parks. We bought our dream home 7 years ago because we fell in love with the giant backyard. Our summers are spent outside having brunches, BBQ dinners or just playing with our friends and family. We can’t wait for a child to be able to run around and enjoy it. We live in an historic neighborhood that includes California Blue Ribbon schools and great open parks. Our favorite neighborhood location is Santana Row where we enjoy the Farmer’s Market, taking our nephews to the Christmas Tree lightings, concerts on the Green and other events throughout the year.
Our Work
As we mentioned before, we own our own business. It has given us so many fantastic opportunities. Plus, it allows us to work from home and have very flexible schedules. We are excited that we will both be stay at home parents and involved in the daily needs of our child.
