Before we say anything else, we want to start with thank you. Thank you for even considering adoption, and for taking the time to learn about us. We know you may be facing some of the most overwhelming choices a person can make, and we want you to know that we see you as nothing less than a superhero for tackling those choices. You may not wear a cape or shoot webs from your wrists—but you are truly the kind of fairytale princess and heroine who shows courage, love, and sacrifice in ways that truly change other characters’ lives. In the fairytale stories we grew up on, the real strength of a hero isn’t their powers—it’s their heart and ability to connect to others. That’s you.

We’re two men who dream of building a family that reflects the best of what we’ve learned from life, love, and service. Both of us were raised in small towns by hard-working families who taught us that the measure of a person isn’t what they have, but how they care for others. We believe deeply in the values of serving others before ourselves and working hard, but playing harder. We love traveling the world, meeting people from different walks of life, and seeing how communities come together. We’ve learned that no matter where you go, kindness and compassion sound the same in every language.

We are choosing adoption not as a “backup plan,” but because it truly feels like the path we were meant to walk. We believe families are built in all kinds of beautiful ways, and adoption represents the best of what it means to love someone unconditionally. To us, it’s about joining together—your courage and our commitment—to give a child a home where they are loved, supported, and encouraged to chase their dreams (maybe even occasionally dressed as their own superhero!).

We also believe that you deserve peace of mind and a continued sense of connection if that’s what you want. We are open to whatever form of openness feels right for you—whether that’s letters, pictures, visits, or updates—because your story will always be an important part of your child’s story. We want your child to grow up knowing that their life began with a mother’s deep love and bravery.

Family time for us is about enjoying precious moments with each other. No matter what we’re doing—whether it’s hiking up a mountain, cooking something new, or watching a movie on the couch—what we enjoy most is doing it together. We’ve learned that joy doesn’t come from where you are, but who you share it with. And we can’t wait to share these adventures, big and small, with a child one day soon.

At home, you can usually find us relaxing and watching some movies with our cuddly cat right by our side. During the weekends, we love to explore the city and find new restaurants. Occasionally, we love to drive or take the train for a weekend, get away when we need a break from our usual. (Sometimes, we even take our cat! She is an experienced copilot... just very sleepy!) Travel has always been something our relationship was built on. We are always interested in learning as much as we can about the world around us. Some of our favorite trips were visiting Japan and Australia! We hope to continue traveling and exploring. (Admittedly, mostly for trying new food!)

Hi, I’m Kyle! I grew up in a small, close-knit town in the Midwest where almost my entire extended family still lives—within about twenty miles of each other. I’m the youngest of three boys, and our house was always full of laughter, teamwork, and a healthy dose of brotherly competition. Almost my whole family comes from a background of working in education, so it’s safe to say lifelong learning has always been an important part of who I am. Faith, service, and family were always at the heart of our lives, and those values have stayed with me ever since.
Today, I serve as a medical psychologist in the U.S. Navy, where I’m privileged to do research and directly help service members with their mental health and well-being. My work allows me to combine science, compassion, and service—three things that mean a lot to me. I also teach psychology at a military service college, which feels like coming full circle to my family’s roots in education. Through the Navy, I’ve had the opportunity to serve and teach around the world—on ships, submarines, and overseas bases—but no matter where I go, my greatest joy comes from helping others grow, learn, and find strength in themselves.

I fell in love with Kyle almost instantly. I appreciate how he speaks his mind (he is majorly talented with words!) and isn’t afraid to challenge others to push themselves to be better. Kyle works hard to be calculative and caring. (Meanwhile, I’m usually just vibing!) He is always looking to take something and turn it into something special. He cares for others by looking out for them and will do anything for them. I’ll always admire him for his kindness and cute smirk!

My name is Lance and I grew up in an isolated small town in the southern Appalachian mountains. My twin brother and I lived in a valley where my entire family lived in the same holler! Some of my best childhood memories are playing in our family garden and spending time with the animals around the farm. (I always loved the goats!) We are all still quite close. I call my mom, grandma, and aunt that raised me at least once a week to keep up with small hometown drama (my guilty pleasure) and to share recipes that we enjoy. Unfortunately, my father passed away quite unexpectedly in August 2024. This led me to be more invested and involved in my family (and chosen family). I have a few people in my family with more intensive special needs- which lead me to become a patient and inclusive person. I believe in loving my folks unconditionally! This eventually led me to becoming a teacher and eventually shifting my focus to becoming a special education teacher. Today, I’m still a special education teacher that continues to learn all I can about how to support others to the best of my ability. I’ll admit I’ve got a lot to learn and I am always looking for ways to focus on how I can get home as quickly as I can to hangout with my cat and get started on my evening routine! (Cooking dinner, a bath, and ending the day snuggled on the couch watching childhood movies!)

Some might say we’re “beauty and the beast.” We’re not complete opposites, but we do complement each other a great deal. I love Lance’s patience, love for children and seeing people with different abilities. He keeps me young, is very easy-going and along for all our adventures, but also grounds me and brings me down to earth when I need it.

When we moved back to the United States in the fall of 2023, we were so thankful to find a home that feels like us—warm, full of history, and surrounded by good people. Our house is a row home townhouse very traditional to our city in a quiet neighborhood corner tucked inside a big East Coast city. It was originally built in the early 1900s by working families who ordered the pieces from a store catalog and built the homes together. We love that our house has those humble roots—it reminds us that strong families and caring communities are built by people helping one another.

Our street has just a few houses, and our neighbors have become more like extended family. We’re closest with Mitchell and Elizabeth next door, who welcomed their baby girl, Charlotte, this spring. The whole street came together to celebrate her arrival—it’s that kind of neighborhood. We know we’ll have a “village” of people cheering on our future child, from family and friends to neighbors of all backgrounds and walks of life.

We’ve worked slowly and lovingly to make our home special. Each room is inspired by places we’ve lived or traveled, from a living room filled with patterns and colors from the Middle East to a basement that reminds us of the South Pacific. The nursery is our favorite room—it’s decorated like the Amazon rainforest, with bright colors, soft light, and little animal friends waiting to be discovered. We can already picture story times, art projects, and a lot of giggles in that space.

Outside, we have a small fenced yard where we look forward to summer afternoons playing as a family, blowing bubbles, and watching our cat, Ruth Bader Ginspurr, sunbathe on the steps. She’s a sweet, quiet cat who mostly naps but loves to be near people—especially anyone willing to share a cozy blanket.

Living in a big, lively city means there’s always something new to explore—parks and playgrounds, children’s museums, great schools, and family events around every corner. We love spending weekends wandering through museums, trying new foods, and finding places to learn and play together. And as our family grows, we’re excited to keep exploring not only our city but the world—continuing to travel, meet new people, and learn from other cultures and communities wherever we go.

For us, travel is more than just a hobby—it’s a calling. Exploring the world lets us experience God’s beautiful creation, its people, and its many cultures. Every new place teaches us something—how others live, work, celebrate, and love. So far, we’ve been blessed to visit 72 countries, and each one has left a mark on our hearts. We’ve learned that while people may look or sound different, kindness and family feel the same everywhere. As our family grows, we can’t wait to keep exploring—through new countries, but also through the eyes of a child discovering the world for the first time.

When we’re not traveling, we both find joy in the simple things that make a house a home. Kyle loves learning about human behavior, science, faith, and even a little politics now and then. Our free time often means cooking a new recipe, working on a home project, or finding a new local restaurant to try together. Weekends in the fall are for college football, and in every other season you’ll find us cheering for our city’s sports teams—men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, football, and hockey. We also enjoy quiet nights watching movies or catching up on a good TV show, especially when Ruth Bader Ginspurr curls up beside us.

Lance starts each morning by perfecting a good cup of coffee and enjoying quiet time with Ruth before work. Free time usually means getting outside—hiking in the nearby parks or exploring nature wherever we can find it. Video games are Lance’s favorite way to unwind and stay connected with his brother, even from across state lines. He’s also been trying to learn a new language, which keeps him humble and curious. When we’re both home, Lance is really great at helping Kyle with his projects, relaxing with our cat, or heading out to explore new neighborhoods, cafés, and little corners of our city.

No matter what we’re doing—whether it’s hiking up a mountain, cooking something new, or watching a movie on the couch—what we enjoy most is doing it together. We’ve learned that joy doesn’t come from where you are, but who you share it with. And we can’t wait to share these adventures, big and small, with a child one day soon.

We both grew up in tight-knit families. It wasn’t uncommon for us to spend holidays together with our extended families on both sides. We both have great memories around our favorite times of year (Christmas and Halloween).

Kyle’s favorite Christmas memory was the year he was dancing around the living room, pretending to be one of Santa’s elves, and in all his excitement he loudly ripped his brand new track suit. It was hilarious!

Lance’s favorite Halloween memory would be trick-or-treating on a picture perfect October night and dumping the candy into a pile for his family to share (but he got dibs on anything KitKat related!)

Even today, the holidays are special for us. We love thinking back to how much magic we felt during our childhoods. Now-a-days we’ve learned that our own families helped make that magic possible and we want to do the same for our new family.

Kyle has two brothers and Lance has a twin brother. Despite being fraternal and not-at-all alike, Lance and his brother have been very close their whole lives, bonding over video games and growing up as each other’s best friend. Together, we have 9 nieces and nephews and can’t wait for a large family gathering where all the kids can play together.

Our favorite traditions are the ones that bring people together—especially around the holidays. We both love celebrating Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, and our home always feels full of laughter, good food, and the smell of something delicious baking in the kitchen.

Christmas is especially meaningful for us. Each year, we decorate our tree with ornaments that tell the story of our lives—some from our childhoods, others from all the major cities and countries we’ve visited together. Over the years, we’ve collected hundreds of ornaments, far more than any one tree can hold! So every November, unpacking them becomes a big event—like opening a scrapbook of memories. We spend hours retelling the stories behind each one, remembering the places we’ve been blessed to visit, and adding new ornaments from the past year’s travels. It’s one of our favorite ways to reflect on how far we’ve come together and to dream about where life will take us next.

Thanksgiving and Christmas both give us a reason to slow down and reconnect with family and friends. Kyle especially loves cooking for everyone—putting on music, filling the house with the smell of a fried turkey, southern collard greens, and homemade desserts like pumpkin roll, pumpkin cheesecake, and Appalachian apple-black walnut cake. Hosting dinners and welcoming friends who may be far from their own families has become one of our favorite parts of the season.

We also love that our city knows how to celebrate. Whether it’s spooky decorations in the fall, holiday parades, or twinkling lights in winter, there’s always something magical happening. Our city’s museums, parks, and neighborhoods all seem to join in the spirit, and we can’t wait to share that joy and wonder with a child—whether it’s trick-or-treating through our neighborhood, baking cookies for friends, or picking out that year’s new ornament together.

For us, holidays aren’t just dates on a calendar—they’re reminders of gratitude, family, and the simple joy of being together. We can’t wait to continue these traditions and create new ones as our family grows.
