Hello! We’re Alison and Pete, plus our daughter, Madeline! Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. It is our hope that we will be the right family to care for and love your child! We have a strong desire to adopt and thought it would be easy to write down our thoughts. But starting on this journey was a challenge for us. As we talked more about it, we realized you might also be in an unfamiliar situation. Perhaps, that is our first similarity. Although we don’t know you, we are so impressed by you! Considering adoption means you have an amazing amount of courage and kindness.
Our little family shares so much love and happiness! Being parents has been life’s greatest blessing for us, and one of our biggest challenges, as we are unable to have another child. We promise that if we have the chance to add another little one to our family that he or she will know that you made a loving, selfless, and brave choice. We hope as you look through our profile you will get a glimpse into our wonderful life. Hopefully, you’ll find the special something that creates a connection between us.
We are a happy family of 3, 5 if you count the dogs (we do!). Our daughter, Madeline, is imaginative, funny, happy, and excited to one day be a big sister. She loves to sing and dance, horseback ride, jump rope, and roller skate. She draws pictures and writes us notes almost daily, and loves being “mommy” to all her dolls and stuffed animals. Together, we all love to ride bikes, camp, play tennis, swim, go boating and skiing, and play board games. We also have 2 dogs, Penny and Tucker. Our pups go to the park almost everyday for a walk or to chase the ball. We love spending time together!
Being parents is our number one joy! We love watching Madeline grow and learn, as we will our adopted child. We want our children to be kind, generous, and upstanding individuals. As parents we work on modeling those qualities each day. We think it’s important for children to follow rules and learn to be responsible. It’s also important for us, as parents, to be flexible and understanding. Each child is a unique individual. We hope to enrich our children’s lives by providing them with opportunities to explore and learn about their interests. We also value the importance of a child knowing their adoption story and will want to share that with you and your child. Our parenting approach is to be intentional while teaching our children to be confident, well-mannered, resilient, fun-loving, and warm-hearted individuals.
My Husband, Pete
Pete is the most amazing man I have ever met! He has every quality I dreamed of – loving, generous, faithful, supportive, encouraging, and funny. He makes me laugh daily with his corny jokes! But, what made me love him most was his devotion. He puts 100% into everything he does. That means our marriage, our daughter, our families, his career, and his faith. When we had our daughter, I fell in love with him even more! He is incredibly patient, energetic, and protective. He is the kind of dad I dreamed of for our children. He and Madeline have a special bond. I love watching him play dolls, pretend to be zoo animals, sing silly songs, and tell her jokes. They are always having fun together! All of these qualities make him a great dad and a true family man, through and through. He is completely devoted to us and will be to our next child, too!
Pete grew up in Northern California with his 4 older siblings and his parents, who are still married now 52 years later. After college he decided to become a police officer and moved to Southern California. He is currently a training officer, working with new officers, and also works on bicycle patrol. Pete is an avid cyclist, likes going to the beach, watching baseball on weekends, and enjoys movies.
My Wife, Alison
When I first met Alison, I saw warmth and sweetness in her smile and a twinkle in her eyes. It may sound silly to say this, but I really got this feeling that she was that special person I was meant to be with. Being married to her is second best only to having our daughter. Alison is an amazing mom to our little girl. Being a mom is truly what she was meant to do. Whether making up dances to songs, teaching her to cook, or doing creative little arts and crafts projects with her, Alison’s#1 concern is always our daughter’s happiness and her overall development. She’s been reading to her since the day she came home from the hospital (Ok maybe the second day) and is always making sure that we are getting outside to do something physically active as a family. Alison is a very generous, compassionate, and selfless person, always putting our family ahead of herself. I love her and I know she will welcome our next child into her heart with as much love and affection as she has for Madeline and me.
Alison grew up in a small town in Southern California with her parents, married now for 47 years, and her 2 sisters. Alison always loved working with children and made that a reality when she became a teacher 15 years ago. She works as a 2nd-grade teacher at the elementary school she attended. When she’s home Alison loves to bake, work outside in our garden, waterski, and read. She also volunteers as Madeline’s Brownie troop leader.
Welcome to sunny Southern California! We own a spacious home and love living on a family friendly cul-de-sac. We have a large park, community pool, and walking/biking trails all over our hometown. Our home is also within walking distance of a nature preserve where we love to hike every weekend. We live an hour from the beach, mountains, and Disneyland – and we love going to all of them!
Thank you for learning about our family’s life story. We are excited for our family to grow! We respect you and admire your strength as you travel on this selfless path. Making the hopes and dreams of others come true is incredibly admirable. For this, we are eternally grateful. Thank you for giving us the chance to provide a forever family to your child.
