Dear Birth Mother...
Our Journey to Adoption
Over the past 13 years, we've had many life experiences together and have always wanted to become parents together. As a couple we have struggled with infertility for many years and after several failed IVF cycles, we decided to grow our family through adoption. Adoption is dear to our hearts. We have personally experienced the beauty of adoption through Pat's sister and brother-in-law and our friends. We can’t imagine anything but absolute joy to become parents and sharing our lives with a child.
Our Story
We met in 2009 at Amber's cousin's wedding and we immediately hit it off. Since that day we have relied on each other for support and have been an inseparable duo. After dating for a few years, we were married in a gorgeous outdoor ceremony surrounded by loved ones. We vowed to always trust, laugh, constantly grow together, and support each other's goals, and have been doing so since. We are truly each other's best friends.
This summer we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary and we reconfirmed those vows in a traditional Maasai blessing ceremony in Kenya.
Our Hobbies & Interests
Being active and exercising is important to us. We love goat yoga! We also like hiking, long walks with our puppies, biking, and all types of outdoor activities including skiing and white water rafting. Spending time at our pool is one of our favorite summer activities. When we are relaxing, we enjoy reading good books or nerding out on technology and video gaming.
On week nights and on the weekend, you can find us in the kitchen together. Pat loves cooking weekend brunches making breakfast hashes. He also enjoys making his specialty chocolate cake. Amber loves making lasagna, soups, cooking new recipes, and baking cookies. We enjoy experimenting with different toppings for homemade pizza and trying new cuisines.
Traveling has always been a huge passion of Amber’s and she loves planning epic vacations. Pat always has a suitcase packed ready to be her travel partner. We are always up for an adventure. We love immersing ourselves in the culture, trying new food, engaging with the local people, and experiencing all the things when we travel. This summer, we crossed off one of Amber’s bucket list items of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro! When we travel we notice parents with kids and get excited about the adventures we will take our future child on.
We Believe...
- Pajamas are perfectly acceptable to wear all day long
- Laughter is strong medicine
- Experiences are more important than things
- Ice cream should be eaten in every season, not just summer
- Music and dance parties are great uniters
- It's important to exercise mind, body, and soul
About Amber, by Amber
I grew up in Iowa with my parents and sister. My parents taught me the importance of honesty, hard work, kindness and having a strong faith. I excelled in school and was involved in every type of extracurricular activity from jazz band, speech, government, crew team, and the school newspaper. I attended Baylor University and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. After many years in the corporate world, I pivoted to become licensed as a nursing administrator serving veterans at the VA. I love giving back to those who sacrificed so much for me and know that I can help change their lives by ensuring they receive the superior healthcare they deserve. I love the family, child friendly environment and flexibility my job affords me. I make my own schedule and can adjust as needed. I absolutely cannot wait to share my experiences with our future child, and to celebrate their special gifts and remind them they were made for greatness!

About Pat, by Pat
I was born and raised in Idaho and live 6 miles from my childhood home where my parents still live. I grew up in a close family with my parents and two sisters. My parents immersed me into science and technology by providing opportunities to satisfy my curiosity to learn how things work. At age 10, I built my first computer. During high school, I was encouraged to participate in a cappella and jazz choir due to my 4 octave voice range. My choir was selected to compete at Carnegie Hall with some the best choirs from across the United States.
I am a self-taught software developer and have worked for some of the largest technology companies in America. My career has always provided me with freedom and flexibility. I work for a family friendly company and work from home at least 3 days a week. I am able to modify my schedule to best fit the needs of my family. I cannot wait to share my passion for learning and building with our future child. I am excited to encourage and support them on their unique journey.
About Pat, by Amber
Pat is always smiling and is the most patient, calm, kind-hearted man I have ever met. He gives wise advice. He has incredible positivity that he radiates to those around him. He is talented and very intelligent.

We are both blessed to have been raised in loving, supportive homes surrounded by large extended families and are grateful for the village we have today. We are both extremely close to our families, and whether they live in Boise or are a short drive or flight away, we make time to talk, visit, travel, and make memories together. Amber, along with part of her family, take trips together a couple times a year and she can't wait to include our future child in this tradition.
Holidays and large family gatherings are never dull and are filled with warmth, lively games and conversation, and memories to cherish. We have also been fortunate to be included in other cultural celebrations, such as Bar Mitzvah and Diwali, with close friends. We have enjoyed expanding our cultural knowledge and participating in these festivities.
The people closest to us are supportive of our decision to grow our family through adoption. Our future child will be fully accepted into our village and showered with love, support, and attention.

She enjoys laying in the sunshine, playing with balls and giving hugs. Sully is our 5-year-old brindle boxer. He loves playing keep away, lives for hours of snuggle time and giving wet messy kisses.
