Eight years ago, while we were both in college, we met in Baltimore on New Year’s Eve through some mutual friends. It took a little persuasion for Kathryn to come around, but soon into dating, we fell in love and realized this was the beginning of our wonderful life together. We were married in the summer of 2013 in Kathryn’s small hometown in North Carolina and we currently live in Fort Benning, Georgia. Kathryn stays at home with our son, Declan, spending lots of time at the park with neighborhood families. Bo is a Chaplain in the Army and spends his days helping Soldiers and their families. We are so excited about our life together and all of the fun places we will get to live and explore being in the military. Through the ups and downs of life, we have grown so close and our love so strong. We are each other’s best friends! And growing a family together is our greatest joy.

About Bo, By Bo
I love to play! Play sports, play games, play with kids, especially Declan—the world is my playground, and I love to share it with people. I grew up in Southwest Virginia in a big family with three other siblings, and tons of cousins, and we played a lot together. Family dinners with delicious food, singing and laughing are some of my favorite memories. I’m a complete people person. I love to hear people’s stories and share experiences with them—joys and sorrows. And I love Jesus. That’s how I got my calling as a pastor—because I love and care for all the people God has made. But I also love adventure—which is how the military came into the picture, doing Army ROTC at Virginia Tech. Getting down in the mud, trekking through the woods, and jumping out of airplanes—I love the thrill, and the opportunities to see the world. Kathryn is my rock, though, who keeps me safe, sane, and stable. I am so glad she is by my side for all God has in store for us.
What I Love About Bo, By Kathryn
Bo is the most wonderful man I’ve ever known. He loves people fiercely and never meets a stranger. He’s gentle, loving, kind, fearless, adventurous and my other half. He takes care of his family and everyone else around him. He knows how to be goofy and serious and everything in between. He loves to be challenged and to push himself in all aspects of life, whether it’s fitting into a small parking spot (or always searching for a closer one) or building me the perfect headboard from scratch just because he knows I’ve been wanting it. That’s just the way he is. He loves to love people and it’s infectious. He is the absolute BEST dad. Declan adores him. They run around the house and Bo wrestles and throws him in the air while Declan squeals with delight. He plays with, protects, loves endlessly and is always willing to help out. He is Declan’s superhero…and mine too.

About Kathryn, By Kathryn
I was born and raised in a small town in North Carolina with my Mom, Dad, and older brother, Brandon. My mom is Greek, which meant we spent lots of time with our extended family, playing and vacationing with cousins. We took lots of trips down the beaches of the East Coast and spent every Christmas in Arkansas with grandparents and family. I earned my BA in Accounting from North Carolina State University (GO WOLFPACK!) in Raleigh. It was the best 4 years with friends, exploring Raleigh and other places, and meeting Bo in Baltimore! I’ve known since I was a little girl that I wanted a family and to be home taking care of my babies. I love cooking, baking, crafting, and making a comfortable and cozy home for my family. Being Declan’s mom has been my greatest joy and I so desire for him to have siblings to run around with.
What I Love About Kathryn, By Bo
I can still picture the first moment I laid eyes on Kathryn (GORgeous!). From the moment we met, I knew there was something special and impressive about her, and I was determined to find out more. It has been my greatest joy to discover more and more how wonderful of a person she is, particularly since becoming a mother two summers ago. She loves our son, Declan, fiercely. I love nothing more than having a front row seat to the beautiful, heart-felt, lively, and often humorous motion picture of Kathryn caring for our son—whether it’s feeding him, changing his diaper, or teaching him a new word. Her tender, nurturing, motherly nature is unmatched. Kathryn also has a zealous passion against cruelty and injustice that inspires me. Her love for people and the way she selflessly cares and serves others (especially our neighbors) blows me away. Kathryn LOVES animals (like, almost as much as humans). She jokes that she missed her calling as a zoologist. Snuggling up on the couch with a good book or a movie (usually Disney or chick-flick) is one of her favorite things to do—especially if it turns into an afternoon nap. She is also super crafty and fashionable! She has done an amazing job decorating our home, styling Declan’s wardrobe, and making crafty gifts for family and friends. Kathryn is simply an amazing person, and I couldn’t have asked for a better partner to through life with.

Declan if our fun-loving baby boy. He has a smile that is infectious. He is fierce, strong, independent and the sweetest child you will ever meet. He has never met a stranger and wins over everyone around him. He loves climbing and jumping, eating and playing with his friends in the neighborhood. He’s obsessed with trucks and boats and we can’t imagine what life would be without him.
About Our Sophie Girl
Sophie is our adventurous kitty. We once found her on top of the shower head! She loves to lay snuggled up on your lap, but her favorite thing to do is FETCH…yes, that’s right, fetch! You never know where you’re going to find her. She’s wonderful and so gentle and puts up with way too much from Declan.
Meet our Home & Loved Ones
We live in a wonderful duplex on an Army base in Columbus, GA. There’s a massive park right down the street that we walk to daily. We have wonderful neighbors who have kiddos and lots of friends that live nearby. Our friends are literally the best ever. We play lots of games with them, go hiking, watch movies, exercise and all kinds of other activities. They are our lifeline who walk with us through all of the highest highs and lowest lows of life. It takes a village to raise a child and being in the military means we have a village anywhere life takes us, and we are SO grateful!

We love rotating to different family for holidays, Christmas and Thanksgiving are our favorites! At Christmas we read the Christmas story, make a huge breakfast and open lots of presents, and at Thanksgiving we fry a turkey, eat tons of food, and watch the Thanksgiving Parade. All holidays are full of chaos, laughter, and tons of love…and food.
My family LOVES to be together, all the way from our Great Aunts to far extended cousins. I have one older brother, who is married with 3 kiddos. My mom (Mimi) keeps the roads hot, doting on all of her grandbabies. She can’t get enough of them (and the feeling is mutual). My dad (Papa) or more affectionately known by his grandkids as “the Papa Monster” can be found chasing and tickling Declan until he’s squealing or taking them to drive the forklift at the family business.
I have a BIG family, and I LOVE it! Every time we get together it is big beautiful mess of fun, food, and friendship. My dad (Dadadee) and stepmom (Gritzi) keep Declan’s toys well stocked with Dinosaurs, and love to sing and play ukulele with him. Giant family reunions happen every year in Montgomery, AL, with swimming and playing highly competitive card games. My mom (Shana) and stepdad (Gramps) love to have sleepovers with Declan and his cousin May May, giving Kathryn and me a chance to spend time with our siblings in Virginia.
Both of our families love being involved in our lives and have been so supportive of us growing our family through adoption.
Thank you again for taking the time to get to know us. Please know we want your child to always know where he/she came from. Adoption is a beautiful story and one to be shared. Our greatest joy will be knowing and rejoicing in who our children are. We want them to grow and thrive and dream BIG. We promise to love them unconditionally and in turn help them to love others in the same way. Our faith is our foundation and we want our home to show the love that we’ve learned because of it. We are so appreciative of your selflessness and sacrifice to do what you believe is best for your child. We can’t wait to get to know you.
