Choose a Family

Brad and Liz

Hi!  We’re Brad and Liz from Michigan.  We are so excited you are considering us to provide a loving home for your child.  We know this must be a difficult decision for you.  We hope that our promise of a safe, fun and loving home for your child gives you comfort.  We respect the strength you have shown in making this loving choice for life and are keeping you and your baby in our prayers every single day!  We have always known that we wanted to have children.  After learning we would have difficulty getting pregnant, we were faced with a decision.  Instead of pursuing fertility treatments for an unknown length of time, we chose adoption.  Having a family is what is most important to us.

We have been blessed with 5 children, all through the miracle of adoption.  Our oldest son Parker is 12, Olivia is 10, Noah is 7, Elijah is 6 and our youngest son Silas is 3.  All of us are very excited to continue to grow our family.  Our children especially can not wait to welcome another brother or sister into our family.  We are all so excited to love another child.  Thank you for taking the time to get to know our family.  Being parents has been the best experience of our lives!

About Us

We have been happily married for 17 years.  We met at the hospital where Brad was finishing medical school and Liz was working as a nurse.  Brad was immediately struck by Liz’s warm smile and the caring attention she gave to her patients.  Liz was drawn to Brad’s beautiful blue eyes and his comforting way with his patients.  Soon after meeting, we began dating.  It wasn’t long before we fell in love and knew we were meant to be together forever.  We have endless love for each other and are excited about sharing this love with your child.  Our lives are centered around our children.  We make an effort to have “we time” instead of “me time.”  We love taking family bike rides on our bicycles built for three!  When Liz goes to the gym, she often takes the kids with her to play in the child center there.  Brad loves taking the boys to Home Depot to help pick out supplies for projects at home.

About Liz

Liz lights up the room wherever she goes.  She is warm, funny and outgoing.  I admire that she worked her way through college to earn her Nursing Degree.  She works outside the home only one shift a month and dedicates the rest of her time to being a stay-at-home mom and taking care of our family.  Although Liz misses her family when she is gone at work, she cherishes being able to serve others.  Liz is a fantastic mother.  She loves to involve our children in everyday activities.  All of our children enjoy cooking and baking with Liz.  Chocolate chip banana muffins are a favorite of theirs.  Our daughter Olivia and Liz enjoy going on long hikes and Starbucks dates.  Livy loves bringing a notebook and pencil to draw pictures of the animals they see.  Our sons Eli and Noah can be found digging up worms beside Liz as she works in our vegetable garden.  Liz really takes pleasure in the simple joys of day-to-day life with our children.

She is passionate about her garden and loves to feed our family the organic fruits and vegetables she grows.  Liz recently learned how to can.  She loved making our baby food and canning different flavors of applesauce for the rest of us to enjoy.  Liz enjoys a healthy lifestyle.  She enjoys exercising, going to Zumba classes and loves to prepare nutritious meals for our family.  Liz’s idea of a great day is one spent hiking at a local park, watching the kids explore nature, and stopping for ice cones on the way home.  She is passionate about life and her family and has so much to offer your child.

About Brad

Brad attended medical school at the University of Michigan. He works as an ER doctor at a nearby hospital. He works 14 shifts a month and is never on call. When his shift is over, his work is done. Once he is home, he is 100% ours. Although Brad enjoys his work, having a family is by far the number one priority in Brad’s life. He will be able to take a 2 month leave for the adoption of our next child, just like he did for our other children.  Brad is my best friend. I know I can trust him and rely on him for anything. Not a day goes by that I don’t feel extremely loved and cared for by Brad. He adores our children and cannot wait to have another child. It has been a joy to watch Brad as a father.

Due to the flexibility of his work, Brad is often home when the children are awake. He loves flying kites with the children in the backyard, involving them in home repair projects, applauding Olivia at her ballet recitals and taking the crew to the movies.  Brad enjoys running. The big kids love to come along on their bikes as he runs. Brad is also a huge baseball fan. He loves taking our children to game, playing catch with them in the yard and helping coach their baseball teams. I feel so lucky to have married a man who is not only a loving husband but also a great Dad.

Life in Our Home

We live in a spacious 4 bedroom and 4 bathroom 4,000 square-foot home. It sits on nearly an acre of land. We have a huge playset in our backyard. It is a center of activity for the neighborhood kids. Our home is in a racially and culturally diverse community. It includes many trails and parks. We love taking walks as a family and visiting the local parks and beaches. Just the other evening we saw rabbits, turtles, ducks, geese, cranes, as well as a deer. We especially like watching the baby geese and ducks grow throughout the spring and summer.

Living in Michigan, we are able to enjoy all of the seasons. Most of our time is spent outdoors. In the winter, we love to build snowmen and to take the kids sledding. We even have a small hill in our backyard! Afterwards, we head inside to share hot chocolate and marshmallows. In the summer, we enjoy visiting the local Farmers’ Market, picnicking at the park, and keeping cool at a nearby splash park. When the leaves start to change colors, we know that apple picking, caramel apples, pumpkin donuts, and a visit to the cider mill is approaching. Our favorite cider mill has a petting zoo, tractor rides, and hay bails for the kids to jump on.

Our Values

We believe it is important to slow down and enjoy life and the time we have been given together as a family. We do not believe in over-scheduling ourselves or our children. We focus on the things that keep us close. We make it a priority to eat meals together as a family. We feel blessed to have our children and think they deserve to be our number one priority.  Our Christian faith is important to us. It is part of our everyday lives. We treasure our time reading Bible stories together as a family every evening. We feel these stories and our faith help us to teach our children the importance of kindness, understanding and an open heart.

At our house, a typical weekday may look like another person’s weekend. We have chosen to homeschool our children.  With the flexibility of Brad’s job and homeschooling, we can often be found at places during the week most people reserve for the weekends. We are able to go to water parks, cider mills, and science centers without having to fight the crowds. The kids also attend classes every week at Palaestra, a large Christian homeschooling organization. Brad also teaches Biology and Chemistry there. With over 300 active families, Palaestra offers students Prom, Spring Formal, yearbooks, class photos, and class picnics. We believe our choice to homeschool our children has brought us closer as a family and given our children a rich, fun and broad education.

Our Extended Family

We value our extended family. Our parents live close by. They are very excited about our plans to adopt another child and are eager to welcome a new baby into the family. Several of our family members have also built their families through adoption. We are blessed with five nephews. We cherish our time with them and know that they would love to have a new cousin to play with. Our extended family gets together often throughout the year. Whether it is a summertime family reunion on the lake or a Christmas get-together, we always have a good time.

Our Promise

We are so excited to welcome another child into our family.  We are blessed to be able to offer a life full of tremendous opportunity, but more importantly, we promise your child will always have our unconditional love and support and they will always know how much we cherish them.  Your child will always know how much you cared for them and you will always hold a special place in our heart.

With Love and Admiration,

Brad and Liz
