Hello! We are Bree and J.R. from Southern California!

To A Very Special Someone: Hello! We are Bree and J.R. “It does not matter how our child comes to us, we are ready to love them with everything we’ve got.” Thank you for taking a moment to get to know us; hopefully, this is where our story together begins… We can’t think of a more beautiful and selfless gift than the gift of life and your ability to complete our family. The weight of what you must be going through is not lost on us, and whether you choose to parent or place, we wish you nothing but peace on your journey.

This Is Us

We began dating in 2010 after several acquaintances trying to get us together could no longer be ignored. Surely four people couldn’t be wrong. Our first date, which was supposed to be a ride on J.R.’s Harley to grab lunch, turned into a Harley ride to meet J.R.’s ENTIRE family! It seemed to all work out because we’ve been together ever since that day. After four wonderful years together, we got engaged on Christmas morning 2014 and decided to go to the courthouse the very next day to make it official. We had a beautiful wedding 10 months later in Paso Robles, California and had the time of our lives celebrating with all of our favorite people. We live a life of adventure; camping, fishing, boating, water skiing, dirt bike riding, mountain biking, beach camping, traveling, hiking our local trails, country concerts, and off-roading our Jeep in the mountains by our house. Since the beginning of our relationship, we’ve talked about sharing all of these adventures with our future child. We spent a few years trying for a baby and were unsuccessful. After some testing, we were told we had a 1% chance of conceiving naturally. After giving ourselves time to heal, we soon realized adoption is where we were always meant to be. After a camping trip with all of our family and friends down in San Diego for our niece’s 3rd birthday, we got home and both of us KNEW that we were ready to pursue adoption.

Our Friends Say:

  • We are FAMILY-ORIENTED
  • We are RESILIENT
  • We are GENEROUS and warm
  • We are EASY-GOING and patient
  • We go out of our way to DO NICE THINGS

Meet Bree, By J.R.

Bree is and continues to be the best things to ever happen to me. It’s very easy to love someone that makes life so much fun. She never misses an opportunity to tell me how grateful she is for our life. Bree is a freelance court reporter, which enables her to choose the days she wants to take jobs and spends the rest of her time working from home. I was so proud to watch her get through school, and I will never forget the day she got the letter saying she had passed her final state exam and the look of accomplishment on her face. Bree has many talents and is happiest when being creative. She turns our home into pure magic during Christmastime, and I’ve even become accustomed to the cheesy Hallmark Christmas movies playing 24/7. I appreciate the thought and love she puts into everything she does, whether it’s turning our trailer into a haunted house in the middle of the desert so the kids in camp can trick or treat, or throwing together trays of her ”famous” eggplant parmesan. If there’s anything she was meant to do in life, it’s be a mom.

You Might Be Surprised, Bree…

  • Has traveled to Ireland
  • Can write over 200 WPM on her steno machine
  • Has a not-so-secret obsession with cheesy Hallmark movies
  • Loves over-the-top gift-wrapping
  • Puts Cheetos on her PB&Js

Meet J.R., by Bree

J.R. is the hardest working and most loyal person I have ever met. J.R. would go to the ends of the earth for someone he loves without a second thought. J.R. is a firefighter/paramedic living out his childhood dream. He was just nominated for Firefighter of the Year for the second time in his career, and I couldn’t be prouder. J.R. has the greatest laugh. We went to see a comedian in Palm Springs a few years ago, and you could hear his laugh over the hundreds of other people in the audience.  Nothing makes me happier than seeing his smile when he’s driving our boat down the river or when he gets back from a dirt bike ride.  J.R. is an amazing cook. His sushi hand rolls are out of this world, and he can make a mouth-watering pesto from scratch. Music has to be blaring at all times whether he’s working in the garage or whipping up dinner. I consider myself lucky with how mechanical he is and adore how much research he’ll do for even the simplest things. The way he loves me is more than I could have ever dreamed of, and I can’t wait to see how great of a dad he is going to be.

You Might Be Surprised, J.R….

  • Had the brightest red-orange hair until his mid-twenties when it started to darken
  • Has visited China and the Great Wall
  • Started his own successful lawn care business in elementary school and ran it all the way through high school, which is how he put himself through paramedic school
  • Grew up playing hockey, racing BMX and water skiing

Our Loving Families

Family and Friends That are Family: We do everything with our family and friends. Almost all of our camping or river trips are spent together. Every Thanksgiving we spend the week camping out in our motorhomes in the desert doing a large potluck and riding dirt bikes. We love that our family and friends enjoy adventures as much as we do. We get our sense of adventure from our childhoods. Both of us were lucky enough to be raised road-tripping and camping all over the country with our siblings. (Fun Fact:  J.R. grew up next door to Bree’s uncle and aunt, and his little brother is married to her cousin.) So, when we say we’re one big family and there aren‘t sides, we literally mean we’re all one big family. Every December we all get together and do a big cookie-baking day; the girls bake, the guys eat Italian cold cuts, and the kids play. Both of our parents have been married for over 40 years and gave us such a wonderful foundation of what a marriage should be. We have three nephews and two nieces that we absolutely adore, and they can’t wait to meet their future cousin.

Qualities We Value In Friends and Family:

  • LOYALTY AND MORALS. Not just loyalty with us, but we appreciate all of our friends and family having loyalty within their own relationships.
  • FAMILY-ORIENTED. All of our best friends and family come from parents that have been married as long as our parents have. We find we have more in common with them.
  • GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR and easy-going. We are very go-with-the-flow people, and we find we gravitate towards people with the same mentality and easy humor.
  • GENEROUS. We love to give more than receive, and we’ve surrounded ourselves with the same kind of people.

Meet Gypsy Rose: She’s a ball of energy and has personality for days. She thinks everyone was put on this earth for the sole purpose of playing with her. Her favorite place, besides our laps, is the river. She LOVES to swim and dig holes in the sand with whatever kid is around. She’s the sweetest little cuddle bug and a shameless beggar. We’re pretty sure her future plans involve sitting directly underneath a high chair. Our Home and Closing Thoughts

Home Sweet Homes: After lots and lots of saving and years of sacrifice, we were able to buy a home in our absolute dream neighborhood in suburban Southern California. We are surrounded by our family and friends who are all a 30-second golf cart ride away. Our best friends live up the street with their baby girl, and our brother and sister-in-law live across the street with our two nieces. Bree’s parents live less than a mile away in her childhood home. We have a huge park around the corner from our house and a top-rated elementary school up one block. We live at the base of a mountain and are a 15-minute drive to the snow in the winter. We love to drink our morning coffee on the porch and watch our dog run around the yard. Our vacation home is located in Arizona and is about a 15-minute drive to launch our boat on the Colorado River. We love our vacation community because of the pool and spa and the fact that it backs up to the wide-open desert.

Things We Will Teach Our Future Child:

  • UNCONDITIONAL LOVE and affection. You can and will mess up, and we will always be there no matter what.
  • MANNERS AND RESPECT. Being polite and having respect and appreciation for the things they have will be important in our home.
  • CONFIDENCE in who they are. We would teach him/her to never let someone dull their shine.
  • WORK ETHIC. You can have anything you ever dreamed of if you’re willing to work hard for it.
  • BALANCE. Pizza and pasta are great; so are veggies. Playing outside is amazing; so is reading a book. Watching a cartoon is entertaining; so is playing make believe.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts: We’ve dreamed of the moment we can take our child to pick out their first dirt bike or stream fish in the Sierras or learn how to water ski on the lake. It’s our hopes and dreams to give your child a life that most children could only dream of. We can’t wait to get to know you. Life is such a beautiful roller coaster ride of twists and turns. We are firm believers that everything happens for a reason, and we’re hoping that fate has brought you to us. Thank you, again, for taking the time to get to know us. We hope to hear from you soon and start this next chapter of our lives together.
