Dear Birth Mother...
Our Hopes in Pursuing Adoption
We are adopting because we have always wanted a family. We want to carry on the traditions and lessons we learned from our families. It’s our goal to have kids laughing and running through the house, tearing through wrapping paper at Christmas, playing with their cousins, and enjoying adventures with us camping under the stars.
Our Story
We met by chance in the greatest city in the world: San Francisco, California. After a summer apart, we reunited in the city, where we started dating and exploring everything San Francisco had to offer. After a few years of settling down and building stability and a community around us, we always knew we’d be together forever, we just needed the right moment. That moment came in 2022: we tied the knot on a sailboat in the Santa Barbara Channel surrounded by our families. It was a wonderful moment and encapsulated our relationship perfectly: adventurous, intimate, surrounded by family, and outside on the water. Some of our favorite moments have been “vanning” all across California, visiting elephants in Botswana, and eating fresh ramen in Japan. As long as we’re together, there is no challenge or obstacle we can’t overcome.
A Little Bit About Tyler, by Tyler
I am from the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Born and raised in Colorado, I spent much of my time growing up and playing outside. I learned to ski before I could walk. I learned to ride on a bright green bicycle. I treasured every camping trip I went on with my friends and family. When I was a kid, I would “move out” of my house every summer and sleep in my family’s pop-up camper each night.
I was a competitive skier growing up, so I like a good competition. It’s all for the sake of being the best version of myself. I love to challenge myself to solve problems, be creative, and think differently. I have always wanted to be a father, I can’t wait to share the world with my kids. There’s so much to explore and discover.
I love to read, write, and solve puzzles. I collect different species of ferns, a hobby I adopted from my grandfather. In my free time, I’m usually on hikes, biking, trying new food, or running through our local open spaces and trails.
About Tyler, by Brian
Tyler has a heart that is larger and more caring than anyone I have ever met. He regularly goes out of his way to ensure that everyone around him feels welcome, seen, and understood. He has a passion for finding fun and adventure wherever he can. Tyler has inspired me to explore the world around me and has taken me on so many amazing adventures.
When I first met Tyler, I was in awe of how smart he is. I was amazed by the fact that he would be able to hold an intelligent conversation on just about any topic. I’m so excited for him to be able to pass his knowledge on to a child.
A Little Bit About Brian, by Brian
I was born in a small town just north of Sacramento, California. My childhood home was located in a neighborhood full of young families with lots of children. My siblings and I spent most of our days riding our bikes all around the neighborhood playing with the other children.
When I was four years old, I began swimming competitively. Years later, I started coaching and quickly learned that I have a passion and a knack for coaching/teaching. This led to a 13-year career in teaching children 4 months to 12 years.
Today, I work as a hairstylist, getting a chance to do two of my favorite things: add creativity to my work and connect with people.
When I’m not at work, you can usually find me in the kitchen testing out a new recipe as I love to cook and try new foods.
About Brian, by Tyler
Brian is caring, loyal, and funny. He knows exactly how to make me smile every day. When Brian sets him mind to something, you better watch out: he will invest his mind and heart into whatever he is learning fully.
Brian is an incredible human. He cares for everyone and everything around him, never letting anyone ever feel excluded or unwelcomed. Brian would never hurt a fly -- literally, he saves every spider or bug from the house and always sets them free outside. His sense of humor is perfectly quirky and quick. Brian strives to help everyone he connects with succeed. He cares.
Every day, Brian reminds me to be more compassionate and forgiving. He will make an amazing father, teacher, and mentor for our future child.

Hobbies & Interests that We Enjoy
We both share a passion for the outdoors. We love to explore the natural world around us by hiking, camping, swimming, and climbing trees. We believe that taking care of our planet is one of the most important things we can do as humans and we are happy to instill similar beliefs in our child.
If we’re not out on the trails, you can usually find us in the kitchen. When we met, we quickly discovered that we both had a passion for cooking and baking. We both grew up helping our parents in the kitchen and are excited to teach our little one how to cook. We enjoy cooking most of our meals from scratch and try and keep things as healthy and fresh as possible. Foodies at heart, we also enjoy a good meal out from time to time.
Creativity is also a large part of our lives. We truly enjoy creating art. Whether that be in the form of a simple sketch, short stories, painting on canvas, or molding clay, we find great happiness in the art of creation. We cannot wait to come up with all sorts of creative projects with our future child.
Our Adventure Van, Vincent VanGo
We have used Vince to explore all over California, Colorado, and the Southwest Desert. Some of our favorite places have been Tucson, Arizona where we got to hike among the Saguaro cacti; Palm Springs, California where we enjoyed some of the best coffee; and The Flat Tops in Colorado, where we watched the sun set through the golden leaves of fall. We’re looking forward to making room for our little one in Vince!
Bucket List
- The Australian Outback
- The Fjords of Scandinavia
- Bavaria/Southern Germany
- Southeast Asia
- The Rwandan Highlands
The Place We Call Home
Since we’ve lived together, something that has been extremely important to us is that we create a home that acts as a sanctuary from the rest of the world. We strive to bring peace and tranquility to our personal space so we can leave the stresses of work and the rest of the world outside when we return home.
Living just outside of Santa Barbara, California, we get the best of both worlds with easy access to the mountains and the beach. Outside our back windows we have a beautiful view of the mountains and outside our front door, you can see all the way to the Channel Islands on a clear day. On the Fourth of July, all we need to do is sit on our front steps and we get our own personal fireworks display. We also have a play structure in our complex and we are just a short walk away from an amazing local park.
Introducing Dodge
Dodge is our 9 year old French Bulldog. Dodge was rescued from an uncertain living situation and became part of the family quickly. Wonderfully loyal and full of character, Dodge is the light of the party. He enjoys snuggling close to a warm body. He loves the beach and getting his ears scratched. He enjoys a good game of fetch, but can be stubborn when he brings the ball back. Dodge’s favorite places to snore are in a tent, in our van, and on “his pillow”. Just think of him as one of the boys!
Meet Our Family
Family is a huge part of both of our lives. Family has always been there to support us through it all. We recently became uncles for the first time and we couldn’t be happier. Brian’s sister gave birth to a baby boy in late 2022. We are so excited for him to have a potential cousin. In addition to an older sister, Brian has a younger brother who is an amazing uncle. Brian’s parents, over the moon to finally be grandparents, have been together since high school and seem to be more in love with each other with each day that passes.
Tyler’s family includes his mom & stepdad; dad & stepmom; and a brother. While Tyler’s family is small, it is mighty. Tyler’s family has always been the inspiration for parenthood. Everyone has been incredibly supportive of Tyler & Brian’s relationship from day one. Despite Tyler’s family living in Colorado, they connect a couple times of year in either the mountains, on the beaches of Hawaii, or along coastline of California. Every Christmas, the family exchanges stockings as a tradition. They cannot wait to add a little stocking (or two!) to the mantle!

Our Thoughts on Parenting
Above all, we believe that the most important thing you can give to any child is a loving home where they know they will always be safe and welcome. We believe that everyone should be taught how to care for our planet and care for those around us. We want to raise a child that has respect for people from all walks of life and backgrounds. Culture is at its best when it is diverse, engaging, and shared. We will always have good food on the table, good conversations to learn from each other, and sense of adventure.
We promise to allow our child the space to become the best version of themselves possible, the closeness to always know they are not alone, and the curiosity to explore beyond and between.
One Last Thank You
We would like to share our gratitude for taking the time to read about us. We truly appreciate your consideration and know how difficult this decision will be. If you choose us to raise your child, we make these promises to you: We promise to raise your child in a loving home with two parents who will go to the ends of the earth for them and an extended family that will do the same. We promise to teach your child to embrace their world with love and understanding and treat others with respect and kindness. We promise to give them a life full of adventure and constant learning. Lastly, we promise to support them in any path they choose for themselves. We cannot wait to be fathers to welcome your child into our incredible and beautiful world.
