Cacey and Matt

Hello! We are Cacey and Matt!

Hello and thank you for taking the time to consider our family. Your loving and courageous decision to is so impressive to us. Becausae of your strength, we have an opportunity to build the family we’ve been dreaming of. We hope that as you read this, you get some sense of who we are and see that we have a tremendous amount of love and happiness to share. We are excited by life and what the future will bring for us. We tried to have a child for a long time but were unsuccessful. We’ve always been excited by the idea of adoption and it feels like the best way to achieve our dream of a larger family. It would be a profound honor and privilege to share this life we consider so wonderful with your child. No matter which family you choose, thank you for your brave consideration of adoption.

How We Met: We were introduced by mutual friends. Cacey needed a date to a party and her friend jokingly said she would bring a surprise date for the evening. Matt was that surprise! The night turned out well since we have been together over seven years.

Our Marriage Proposal: Cacey was still combing her wet hair from a shower when Matt bounded in the room. He couldn’t wait a moment longer and asked her to marry him. Needless to say, Cacey was completely surprised and very happy! We spent the rest of the day talking and laughing with family and friends sharing the news.  We kept that same excitement when, months later, we slipped up to Santa Barbara with a small group of friends and family and eloped on the beach. It was a perfect, beautiful day full of many smiles and lots of love.

Meet Cacey

About Cacey, by Cacey: I grew up in a small suburb of Nashville, Tennessee.  My sister and I had a lot of friends on our street and spent our days making clothes for our Barbie’s and roller skating in the school parking lot. Imagination, creativity and making things were always encouraged. My dad had a woodshop where he would help us make cradles for our dolls and my mom would help us sew them clothes. I went to art/design school in Nashville and studied fashion design. Once out of college I packed everything up and headed west to Los Angeles. Today, I’m a costumer for the movies and spend my days surrounded by what I love. In my off time, I enjoy making things; sewing clothing and costumes for our niece or attempting to make a bowl or vase on my pottery wheel. Once we have a child I will be at home until they start school. I can’t wait to explore all the great opportunities that LA offers for kids.

About Cacey, by Matt: Cacey is extraordinary. I feel very fortunate that I get to share life with her. She is so thoughtful; I can mention something I like in June and sure enough, it will show up in my Christmas stocking. She is playful and clever and constantly coming up with ideas and making things. Cacey has the rare ability to both conceive ideas and make them reality. Cacey can come across as shy to those she isn’t familiar with, but once she gets to know them, she is not afraid to show her goofball side. It’s exciting to be with someone so creative and relaxing to be with someone so even-tempered and loving. Cacey has deep reservoirs of love and compassion and creativity, it is going to be amazing to see her as a mother.

Meet Matt

About Matt, by Matt: I grew up in a classic New England town with my parents and my older sister, Rebecca. My dad is a professor and my mother is a museum educator. We went apple picking in the Fall, sledding in the winter, sloshed around in the mud in the spring and played on the rocky Maine coast in summer. After graduating from the University of Michigan, I moved to Los Angeles.  I’m an executive in the entertainment industry, helping filmmakers use music in their movies. It’s thrilling to work with creative people and help make movies come together. I love sailing and I like to read and cook and make things with my hands. I like to get out and run in the hills. I like to play sports, but I’m not too big on watching them and I love doing crossword puzzles.

About Matt, by Cacey: Matt has an infectious optimism and calm about him. When you are with him you just feel like everything is going to be okay. He is incredibly smart and can knock out a NY Times crossword puzzle no problem. He is curious and unafraid to explore new things. He also has infinite patience for explaining things and figuring them out. He is charmingly goofy and not afraid to be silly for a laugh. We have been together for seven years and I still light up with the biggest smile every time he walks in the room. He will allow our child the freedom to explore on their own and make them feel safe and loved enough to do so. Plus he’s a pretty tall guy so they will be able to climb on him like a jungle gym.

Our Family & Friends

We are fortunate to have a big network of family and friends all over the world. They’re  a vigorous bunch with varied interests and there are always games and plays and projects going on.  Our house is a meeting place where everyone can enjoy a relaxed family atmosphere, so there will be lots of kids to play with and many willing babysitters  on hand.  Cacey’s parents Pat and Teresa, are both artists and live just outside of Phoenix, Arizona. They’ve been married 49 years. Cacey’s sister Tina and her family live close to Cacey’s parents. We spend Thanksgiving in Arizona gathered for a big family feast.  Matt’s father, Robert and his wife live near San Francisco and we see them frequently. Matt’s  mother, Lucy and her husband live just outside Boston. We love going back east to see snow in the winter and leaves changing in the fall. Both Matt’s parents have houses on the coast in Maine as well. We love spending time in the Maine woods and on the water. On Labor Day, Matt’s extended family gathers in Maine for a weekend of swimming and playing on boats.  On Christmas, we get together with Matt’s family and Matt, famously, prepares a traditional breakfast of eggs benedict.

Our Home and Closing Thoughts

Our Home and Community: We live in a cozy three-bedroom house in the Hollywood Hills looking out over Los Angeles. Our neighborhood borders a large park with tons of hiking trails, a reservoir, a carousel, a train ride, ponies, a zoo and observatory. It’s a quiet neighborhood tucked away in the middle of all that Los Angeles has to offer. Our neighborhood is full of young families and the occasional visiting deer.  Things we look forward to doing as a family in Los Angeles: Picnics at the beach. Disneyland. Getting out on the water in boats. Going to the many museums  and the zoo! Taking advantage of all Griffith Park has to offer: the observatory, pony rides, the carousel, the grass, sunshine and trees.

Thank You! Thank you for considering our family. We hope this gives you a glimpse into our lives. We would be delighted to answer any questions you may have about whether we are the right parents for your child. We would love to hear from you.
