Dear Birth Mother, We want to let you know that we are sincerely grateful for your consideration and wish you the best in clarity and wisdom as you make your decision. Seriously…. you are awesome. We are very excited to have this opportunity to share a little bit about who we are with you. We are a very happy and fun-loving couple with lots of love to give! We have dreamed of creating our family through adoption and cannot wait for our future child to join us on our adventures.
Hi there! We are Commodore and Kate from northern California!
Our Parenting Vision
- Love and Laughs
- Bedtime stories
- Baking cookies to leave for Santa
- Sunday cartoons eating waffles in our PJs
- Learning how to fix things with dad
- Learning a love of nature with mom
- Traveling and seeing the world
We are a down-to-earth couple who believe that the simplest things in life are often the best and most worthwhile. Life is what you make of it! We met through online dating in 2018, and our first date was at a wine bar in Vacaville. From the beginning, we knew we had something special. We made each other laugh, and never ran out of things to talk about. Commodore had spent the day wake boarding, and we bonded over our love of the outdoors.
We were married in December 2019 in a small ceremony with only our parents present. We rented a limo and celebrated afterwards at a pizza parlor with a bunch of friends and family. We love each other and would do anything for each other!
Things We Like to Do
- Camping, making s’mores, and sleeping under the stars!
- Making sandcastles on the beach
- Wakeboarding with friends
- Exploring local hiking spots with our dog Daisy
Commodore grew up in California with his parents and two brothers. He spent a year of his childhood traveling with his family around the U.S. in a RV, and he spent ages 8-12 living with his family in the Philippines.
Commodore is so funny and down-to-earth that people are always surprised to learn that he is a scientist that specializes in cancer research, as well as a chemistry professor at the local university. His students love him because they know he cares, and he manages to make learning fun. Science is his passion, and he believes in the power of education to change the world for the good.
Commodore is a wild and free-spirited soul. He makes friends with everyone he meets! He is unendingly optimistic. He loves the outdoors, hanging out with Daisy, and wakeboarding as often as he can!
From Kate: “When I first saw Commodore interact with his nieces and nephew, I knew he would make an incredible father one day to our future child. He always has time for them and makes them feel like a priority. They are always so happy when “Uncle Commodore” comes to visit! I can’t wait to see him with our future child.”
Highlights Aboout Commodore
- Extremely handy and can fix anything!
- Patient - loves kids and animals
- Earned his PhD from UC Davis
- Loves to cook pizza from scratch
- Loves his family and is always helping his mom with technology
Kate grew up in California with her parents and two younger brothers. As a child she wanted to be a writer, and wrote books and poetry. She played soccer and softball, and spent summers swimming in her pool.
Kate is a home health nurse, and thinks she has the best job in the world! She has had many of the same patients for years, and to her they are like family. She usually sees her patients in the morning and is able to work from home the rest of the day, which allows more time at home to spend with family.
From Commodore: “Kate is the gentlest person I know. She is mellow and centered, radiates peacefulness and kindness, and cares about everyone she meets. Together there is an unexplained balance. She has lots of friends and is the person that friends and family call in the middle of the night because she will be there. She has so much love in her heart, and I can’t wait to see her with our future child.”
Highlights About Kate
- Has played the piano since she was a small child
- Has respect for all living creatures and will not even squash a bug
- Lived in Guatemala for 8 months as an adult to volunteer and travel. She worked as a translator for volunteer groups, and still speaks some Spanish (though it’s a little rusty!)
Family and Friends
Kate has two younger brothers, Andrew who lives in Indianapolis, Indiana and Michael who lives in San Jose, California. Kate and her brothers have regular zoom meetups with their parents where they can catch up and play games.
Commodore’s older brother Sal lives in Hawaii, and his younger brother Ace lives in Sweden. Traveling at least once a year to see each other is a way of life, sometimes meeting up in different countries to catch up and see the sights.
Friends are like family to us. We have a ton of great friends with different life stories and diverse backgrounds. Each friendship is a treasure, and we are grateful for the love and support that their friendships provide us. Our friends are all very excited to become “aunties” and “uncles”!
Our parents: We are very lucky to have both sets of our parents close by. They are an active part of our lives and are very much looking forward to becoming grandparents!
FUN FACT: We have hosted a Christmas party since the first year we met. Toasted bread and cheese dip, apple cider, playing the piano, and singing Christmas songs are all part of the evening’s festivities! We cannot wait to carry on this tradition as a family of three.
Meet Our Pets
Life would not be the same without our two crazy cats, and one goofy dog! Gentle Ghost has a heart like gold and just wants to snuggle all day. Max is our explorer cat, who roams the neighborhood and says hi to all the neighbors. Daisy is our sweet dog, who just wants to be near us all day, sleep in the bay window, and go on walks. These are beloved family members and we can’t imagine life without them. They are quiet, calm, and great with kids!
Our Home and Community
We live in northern California between Sacramento and San Francisco. We are within a couple hours driving distance of both the beaches and the mountains. We love outdoor activities and taking advantage of what this area has to offer. Our single story, 4 bedroom home has plenty of space to grow our family. The backyard has a pool and lots of flowers, fruit trees, and vegetable gardens. We are hoping to one day add a chicken coop to our yard as well! Our neighborhood is safe, quiet, with lots of families with young kids. There is a park less than half a mile from our house, where we take Daisy every day for her walk.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us! We have so much love to give, and are so excited to become parents. We are committed to raising our future child with all of our love, and throughout your child’s life to emphasize our gratitude for you and your selfless gift. This will never be forgotten. We would love to hear from you!
