Thank you for taking the time to get to know us as you consider adoption for you and your child. We are excited to become first time parents through adoption. For us, adoption has always been our first choice in building our family. We both have many adopted family members and friends which has shaped the narrative of adoption for us to being something incredibly loving & positive. We imagine you may have a lot to think about and want you to know we’re here for support, however you may need us. It is important to us that your child knows who you are so they can understand not only their own history, but also that they have always been loved.
Where Our Story Began
We met more than a decade ago playing soccer together. Over the next several years, our relationship
grew organically from soccer buddies to best friends to a life-long romance. We started seeing each other romantically after Tracy took Courtney to see the last IMAX showing of the Broadway musical Rent. In the front row of a Metallica concert a few months later we decided we didn’t want to date other people, and we’ve been together ever since. A few years later, Courtney proposed to Tracy in the only way that made sense for us: on the sidelines of a soccer pitch after a game!
We are an eclectic couple who likes going to the theatre as much as we like going to San Jose Sharks hockey games. We really enjoy exploring new places and have taken to always trying to find a local aquarium or museum when we are visiting anywhere new. We love being outside, whether we’re playing soccer, going hiking or just having a BBQ with friends and family.
As avid San Francisco Giants fans we try to get to a few games each season. We cannot wait to bring our baby to their first game, which will be as soon as possible as per family tradition.
Meet Tracy, by Courtney:
I was drawn to Tracy immediately, probably for the same reasons everyone is drawn to Tracy – she has an ease about her that just makes her feel like home and she is always trying to make sure that everyone around her is happy. It is a trait so unique to Tracy that her sister wrote her entire speech for our wedding about the fact that Tracy is so incredibly big hearted and literally just wants everybody on the planet to be happy. Tracy is one of those rare people that actually cares about the answer when she asks you how you’re doing. Out of all the people in the world, she’s my favorite. She makes me laugh, she lets me be weak, she keeps me sane, she makes me crazy. She is my best friend and my favorite person to talk to – she can run the gamut of completely serious to completely ridiculous with me like nobody else. I can’t wait to get to watch her be a mom to our child – I think watching her teach our child how to kick a soccer ball is going to be the best thing I’ve ever seen.
Meet Courtney, by Tracy:
Courtney is a rare find in the best way possible. She is a quiet introvert that catches you off guard with her charm and interesting point of view when you get to know her. She’s extremely caring and thoughtful with an ability to surprise me at every turn. She also may be the most loyal person I know. When she builds a relationship it is meaningful and it lasts.
Courtney is one of those people who is good at so many things because when she puts her mind to something she gives it her best. She’s ridiculously hard working, she’s cool, she’s confident, and she’s very artistic. In fact she and her tattoo artist have come up with some of the most unique pieces I’ve seen.
One of the things I admire most about Courtney is the way she advocates for and cares for animals. This is especially true of dogs, and she definitely doesn’t fall short when it comes to our two pups. Courtney was even able to train our dogs to perform tricks on command with our niece and nephew which they enjoy very much. The kids love hanging out with their active and fun loving auntie Courtney and can’t get enough of her playing with them and chasing them in the yard. She also makes a very comfortable chair when it’s reading time.
For all of these reasons and so many more, it is clear that Courtney will be a great teacher and incredible mom to a child of our own.
Our Furry Family Members
We have two rescue pups, Cinder & Ponch. Our dogs are amazing with children and enjoy playing with our niece and nephew. Cinder’s favorite thing to do is jog with Tracy at the Lake. Ponch’s favorite thing to do is snuggle, he is also a notorious pillow thief. They both love going to the beach, and luckily, we are only an hour drive from the coast.
Our Work: Work/Life Balance
Courtney works as an Account Manager for a local independent insurance agency. She enjoys that no two days in the insurance industry are exactly the same. Tracy works as a Lead Material Handler at a pharmaceutical manufacturing company that produces enzyme replacement therapy drugs for patients with rare diseases. She enjoys the rewarding and physical nature of her work as well as the camaraderie she has with the team. We strongly believe in maintaining a good work/life balance so that we can be home with our child and spend as much quality time together as possible.
Our Home & Community
We live in a little bungalow in Santa Rosa, California, about three blocks away from the middle of downtown. We live on a friendly, quiet side street with a lot of young families whose children love playing outside. Our home is comfortable and casual with sports and concert memorabilia everywhere. Being downtown in an old yet ever changing city gives us access to a lot of city landmarks and local events including farmers markets, parades, car shows, and art and culture festivals. We can’t wait to share the local 4th of July fireworks display with our little one, which can be seen from our front yard.
Love Makes a Family
Courtney’s immediate family lives about 10 minutes away. Her brother and sister-in-law are excited for their son & daughter to have a cousin to play with, and her parents can’t wait to have another grandchild in their lives. Courtney’s mom is a big Christmas fan, and loves cutting down their Christmas tree at the local tree farm. She is excited to welcome a new grandchild into this family tradition.
Tracy’s mom and dad live in Novato. They will be first time grandparents and love being around kids. Tracy’s parents are movie buffs and are looking forward to sharing their love of film with their grandchild. Tracy’s sister lives in Los Angeles and is looking forward to visiting the Bay Area more often to visit her niece or nephew.
We also have a close network of a diverse group of friends, who might as well be family. We have a traditional BBQ every summer where we invite everybody over for burgers, s’mores and chatting around the fire pit.
Our Thoughts about Parenting
We spend our weekends on the soccer pitch. The soccer community in Sonoma County is a tight knit family and all of the kids end up growing up together. We hope to be able to give our child the freedom to explore extra-curricular activities including sports, the arts and sciences so they are able to find what they are passionate about.
We feel these activities add so much to a child’s experience, including boosting their self-confidence, introducing them to a variety of different people, and instilling the values of healthy living from an early age.
We strongly believe in open communication and want our child to know they are able to talk to us about anything that is on their mind. Through extracurricular activities and open communication we hope to encourage a strong sense of self-worth and confidence in our child.
Thank you again for taking the time to learn about us. We’re thrilled to become first time moms, and are excited to share our love of life and new experiences with our child. Our child will grow up in a warm, loving home with a large family structure that includes many close friends. We hope to be able to build a strong relationship with you in whatever way you’re most comfortable. We look forward to learning about you and your dreams for the future.
