Hello! My name is Courtney & I’m thrilled to tell you about my life.

Dear Birth Mother: It’s so nice to meet you…even if just through this letter. Thank you so much for taking time to consider me to be the adoptive mother for your child. I have always wanted to be a mom and grow my family through adoption. I’m beyond excited to be at a place in my life where I can finally start this journey. Adoption to me is a beautiful picture of two lives coming together through choice, creating an eternal bond of love. I know you have a lot of things to think about during this time and I so appreciate you considering the adoption process. You are making such a courageous and loving choice. Please know how much I respect and honor you and will support you no matter what you choose. I am a California Girl born and raised in the Golden State. I’ve lived in other places in the United States but I’ve always come back to California because it’s just home to me. I purchased my single-family home a few years ago in a lovely, peaceful community in the suburbs of Los Angeles. I love that my house is within driving distance of the beach, mountains and desert. I have three large bedrooms, one which will be a perfect nursery. The thing I fell in love with at my house though was the backyard. You only need to walk outside and there’s tons of grass, trees, plants, and even a lovely vine-covered archway. It’s my own private piece of paradise…and it’s just waiting for a child to run and play in it. I can’t wait to share tea parties on the grass or play hide-and-go-seek in the yard with my future child.

I Love To Travel: Experiencing other places and cultures and meeting people from around the world is one of my absolute favorite things to do! Traveling teaches you so much: about yourself, about history and art and architecture, and about people.  I’ve been so blessed to travel all over the world and can’t wait to travel with my future child.

A few of my favorite travel memories:

  • Feeding a koala in Australia
  • Sailing off the coast of Greece
  • Viewing an active Hawaiian volcano during a helicopter ride
  • Heli-hiking on a glacier in New Zealand
  • Visiting the Colosseum in Rome
  • Watching an authentic tea ceremony in Japan

Meet Courtney

I love a good book. Reading a good book to me is like having a conversation with your best friend! Opening up a book opens up the world and I think that’s why I love it so much! Classics, novels, thrillers, historical fiction, detective stories – I love them all!! I especially love reading books with my niece and nephews and watching their growing love of reading!! I’ve already started a children’s book collection, some which I’ve saved from when I was kid, and I can’t wait to read them with my own child.

Some of my favorite books are…

  • Anne of Green Gables
  • Any Sherlock Holmes Book
  • Jane Eyre
  • Les Miserables
  • The Chronicles of Narnia

Some of my favorite things:

  • Showing my niece snow for the first time
  • Making s’mores with my nephews
  • Snuggling up with a good book, a cup of tea, and a cozy blanket on a cold day
  • Going to Disneyland
  • Hiking with my dogs
  • Baking cookies on a rainy day
  • Watching the sunset from a white sand beach

My Career and Volunteer Work

My Career: Learning new things is so important to me! I confess – I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to reading and learning. I was one of the “weird kids” who loved school and science!! I also love caring for people so going in to the medical field was an easy career choice for me. I chose to be a Nurse Practitioner as I knew this would allow me to pursue my love of medicine but also give me the flexibility in my work schedule to nurture and provide for a child. I work in Oncology, caring for people who have cancer, and it is one of the most rewarding experiences to walk with a patient and their family through a difficult diagnosis. I absolutely love my job!

Volunteering: One of the character qualities my family instilled in me is volunteering. This has taken many forms over the years but one of the most consistent is our volunteer work raising guide dogs for visually impaired people. I’ve lost count of how many puppies we’ve raised over the years (we got our first dog when I was five) but it seems like we’ve never been without a dog.   Right now, I have two precious Labrador retrievers that help make my house a home. Lucy is a four-year-old yellow lab that I rescued at Thanksgiving two years ago and she always gives me a special reason to give thanks during that holiday. Alexa is a 1 ½ year-old black lab guide dog puppy I raised last year who ended up getting to stay with me because she had some health issues which prevented her from being a guide dog. My dogs love our daily neighborhood walks and are so attentive with kids!

My Faith: Sunday mornings at church are a highlight of my week! And because I love children, I serve as our Children’s Ministry Coordinator! While I would never force religion on or judge anyone, I promise to show your child the values and beliefs that have played such an important role in making me who I am today. Our church family is so special and supportive. We even have several families who’ve been built through adoption so there is such a loving community ready and waiting for another child to be added to our fun and caring group.

My Loved Ones

I grew up in a loving and supportive home with two amazing parents and a younger brother, along with wonderful grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. It’s important to me that my child grows up in a similar circumstance, surrounded by a large, caring network of family. I can’t imagine my childhood without my brother and cousins and will make sure that my future child experiences the same crazy, loud, busy, and fun upbringing. One of the things I’m most thankful for is that my family always valued “experiences over stuff” and this is something that I feel is important to pass on to my children. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of camping, visiting museums all across the United States, seeing national parks, and singing songs over an open campfire, while roasting marshmallows of course.

My family is so important to me and we’re still super close to this day! My brother, Patrick, is married and I have an amazing niece, Chelsea, and two wonderful nephews, Ethan and Tyler, who I love to hang out with! My mom, Carrie, is such a creative and giving grandmother who’s always coming up with new ways to have fun with her grandkids! We all live close to each other so getting together on the weekends (maybe for a pizza and game night?) is super easy. My 81-year-old grandmother still loves to be part of the action, often planning group birthday parties at her house complete with horseback rides for the kids on her two horses. I am so blessed to have such a fun and devoted family who are so excited to welcome a new baby.

  • I promise to love you each and every day with an unconditional love
  • I promise to take care of your needs and always be there for you
  • I promise to show you the world
  • I promise to hug you and kiss you and read to you every day
  • I promise to provide a consistent foundation on which you can thrive and grow into the very best person you can be
  • I promise to tell you how incredible, beautiful, loving, and kind your birth mother is

Thank You Again! I am deeply honored that you are taking the time to read my letter. I know that you are so strong, brave, thoughtful, selfless and loving in considering this choice for your child. I can only hope to be like you in these ways in my own parenting journey. I know this cannot be an easy decision for you but I hope that learning a little bit about my life and my heart will give you confidence that I would be an outstanding parent for your child. It is truly my heart’s desire to become a mom and I promise you that I do not make this choice lightly. I know having a child is a sacred responsibility and I am ready for the joys and challenges that come with raising a precious life. I know whatever decision you make will be the best choice for your child and I thank you again for considering me as an adoptive mother for your child.
