We’ve never met, but we’re grateful you’re taking the time to read a little about us and thank you for considering us to be your child's adoptive parents. Although we can not imagine what you are going through, we admire your strength, love, and selflessness as you make this difficult decision to place your child for adoption. We think this is the greatest act of love a person can make!
We are both from Italy (Alex from Rome and Daniela from Venice) and we currently live in a beautiful community right outside Washington D.C. after spending 16 years in southern California. We met at University of California Los Angeles, over 15 years ago and it was love at first sight, but more of that later...
When we originally moved from Italy, we were supposed to stay in L.A. only for a short period of time to complete our studies but we fell in love with southern California and we decided to stay in the U.S.
Five years ago our amazing son Luca arrived into our lives through adoption and now we can't imagine our life without him. We love being parents and we are excited for the opportunity to grow our family through adoption again.
It was just another Tuesday morning at work when I got a call from a very good friend asking if I wanted to join him for lunch. I remember being quite busy and I didn't want to go, but he insisted so we agreed on a quick lunch. When I got to the cafeteria my friend was not alone, he was very excited to introduce me to a new student from Rome. I think it took me less then five minutes to go from annoyed (oh man, I don't have time for this) to intrigued (well...work can wait). That lunch was the spark that started it all! We started laughing and we haven't stopped ever since!
We like to do a lot of things together: talking, cooking, eating, traveling, dreaming, dancing, hiking, sailing, swimming, biking, building, cuddling, watching movies and definitely laughing. When Luca became part of our life, 5 years ago, it was like a dream come true! Alex and I both enjoyed growing up in large families and know in our hearts that we always wanted to have at least two children. We really hope to continue to grow our family through adoption.
What can I say, Daniela is the love of my life! We met at U.C.L.A. while she was working there as a researcher and I was completing my master's degree. It took about fifteen minutes for us to feel a connection and we have been together ever since. Daniela is smart, funny, passionate and creative. She's also caring and compassionate and always ready to help others. Her great personality makes her an incredible wife and mother! Even when dealing with tough situations, she maintains a positive attitude and NEVER gives up. Children have always had a special place in Daniela’s heart, I cannot think about a better example in a child’s life than her. The moment you meet her, you’ll understand!
I started my career as a computer scientist researcher and this is what initially brought me to Los Angeles. While there, I rediscovered my passion for architecture and I decided to get a master's degree in interior architecture and design. It started more like a hobby but soon I understood that in life we need to follow our passions so I changed my career and I became an interior designer. I believe that everyone deserves to be inspired by the spaces in which they dwell. I am grateful I am able to improve people's living and workspaces!
I have to admit, I love Alex because he makes me laugh! No matter what is going on around him, he always comes up with a funny joke that makes my day :) I love how he doesn’t take himself too seriously, how he manages to keep a positive approach in difficult situations and how he comes out with a smile when least expected. He loves outdoor activities and sports in general and he’s always ready for the next adventure: sailing along the southern California coastline, skiing, camping, biking or hiking ... you name it! It is great to see him sharing all his passions with Luca!
Alex is also a very hard worker both at home and at the office. He loves his job as a software engineering manager but his family always comes first. He is lucky to have a flexible schedule and he can work from home. Science and technology (if it comes with wings, even better) are his passions. He is eager to learn new concepts, pretty much like a kid would be :) He loves going to museums and tech exhibitions. Oh, I almost forgot his cooking skills. He cooks for us almost every day and he is never scared of trying new recipes and experimenting: it must be his southern Italian DNA!!
Luca is our 5-year-old sweet and smart son who lights up our world every day! He loves to run, jump & climb. He is constantly on the move! He is an explorer. He is super-curious about everything that is there to know: how things work, new places to discover and new people to meet. Luca loves to laugh. He is a happy kid that doesn't miss a single occasion for a big contagious laugh! He is very caring, compassionate and sensitive. Luca loves to play with his friends and the hardest thing to do for him is to leave at the end of a playdate! He speaks two languages, English and Italian and he is great in switching between them based on who he is talking to. We will teach our future child Italian too so they will also be bilingual. Luca is an artist and a performer. He loves to draw and paint. But his favorite is to dress up and put on a show! He can't wait to be the perfect big brother!
We have a big, loving and always-present family. When we are together we can be heard from miles away :) We organize something together every time we can and we go to Italy as often as possible. Our family and good friends complete our life and make us feel part of a community that understands and supports us. We are very grateful to have them and we’d do anything for them!
We live in a beautiful, quiet and family-friendly neighborhood in Maryland, just outside Washington, DC. An awesome playground and a neighborhood pool are just around the corner and the elementary school is a short walk away. Our street is very safe and Luca often enjoys playing and riding his bike on the street outside our house with his friends. One of the reasons why we love living here is that you can experience the many museums and monuments of our Capital, visit a country farm and enjoy amazing food all in one one day :) We are excited to share with your child the unique cultural and educational experience that D.C. has to offer, such as preschool art classes at the National Gallery of Art, kid-friendly concerts at the Kennedy Center for the performing art and much more!!!
Thank you so much for considering us. We hope that these few pages give you a better picture about our story, our life and our values. We can only imagine how difficult your journey must be and we respect your courage on making this decision.
