Hi! We are Jimmy & Dominique AKA J and Dom. We are so grateful that you are reading our profile and thank you for considering us as adoptive parents. We are college sweethearts who have been together since forever. We’ve always loved children and have dreamed of being parents together since before we even got married. Together we have mentored many children, from teaching together to just being a cool auntie and uncle, and to being everyone’s favorite godparents. The foundation of our relationship is love and support, and we want to tell you about us so that you feel comfortable in finding the right family for your child.
Dear Birth Mother
We are both from Detroit, MI, where our families still live. We met at the University of Michigan. Jimmy was into music and Dominique was into theatre and writing. One night at a poetry event, Jimmy saw Dominique read a poem and fell in love with her at first sight. That same night, Dominique met Jimmy (a Hip Hop artist) and didn’t realize she was meeting her future husband.
Instead of dating right away, we became best friends. It was through this friendship of laughter, and supporting each other’s events around campus, that Dominique realized she was in love with Jimmy as well. We decided to start dating and instantly became everyone’s favorite couple. We’ve never stopped loving, laughing, and living our best lives together.
Five Ways We Show Each Other Our Love
- We listen to each other
- We clean up behind each other and do chores for each other
- We show up for each other’s art
- We hug each other every morning and thank God for waking us up together
- We cook together and for each other
Meet Dominique, By Dominique
I grew up in Detroit with two parents that were married for 47 years. My mom was a teacher and my dad was disabled from a stroke when I was five years old. Since my youth, I have always been into creative writing and the arts, and was taught to follow my dreams. Now I am a full-time writer for Theatre and Television. I spend a lot of time working from home in front of my laptop. But I also love to get out and have fun, whether it’s hiking with Jimmy, listening to live music, going to see plays, or hanging out at a BBQ with friends. I look forward to helping our future child explore their creative side with activities such as African dancing, music, and science. Whoever my future child wants to be, I look forward to helping them find that out by introducing them to as many amazing things as possible.
More About Dominique, By Jimmy
Dominique is a passionate, dedicated, and loving woman. She is the type of person to put the well-being of others ahead of her own individual desires. Her instincts as a teacher, as an Aunt, and as a Godmother are always in tune with young people. Even back in college our friends jokingly called her “Mama Dominique” because she always had a mature nurturing spirit. She is a mentor to many and invests a lot of time and energy into young people because she knows they will be the ones to change the world. We have very open honest conversations from the smallest thing to the biggest philosophical idea. Dominique is truly my best friend in every sense. She me pushes me and everyone in her life to be the best possible version of themselves at all times. She is firm but loving and has a heart of gold. I can’t think of anyone more trustworthy, anyone more fit to be a mother.
- Stands up for what is right
- A good friend
Meet Jimmy, By Jimmy
I grew up in a small city just outside of Detroit. I was very into sports, music, and playing outside. My parents worked hard to provide for me and my younger brother Ray, taking us to and from basketball and baseball practices after working long shifts. That spirit rubbed off on me as I landed my first job at a media retail store a week before I got my driver’s license. The moment I could work, I got up and did just that and continued on that path, putting myself through college my junior and senior year. It was here in college that I met and fell in love with Dominique. After doing two years of long distance and racking up a bunch of miles, I ultimately followed my dreams and my future wife out to New York City where I worked in entertainment and marketing for 15 years. Now living in California, I run my own Media company and enjoy the flexibility of working from home. I spend much of my time crafting music and videos and recently started cooking, DJing, and playing retro video games as hobbies.
More About Jimmy, By Dominique
Jimmy is the most loving, sincere, and creative man I have ever met. His heart is so big that it humbles me. He always thinks about how he can do right by other people, whether it’s taking care of his grandmother, looking out for his father and younger brother, being my bestie, or checking in on his friends, Jimmy is truly selfless. But my favorite thing about him is his sense of humor. He can make everyone laugh and can pull you out of a bad mood with his joy and kindness. Since I’ve known him, I’ve always believed that everybody needs a Jimmy in their lives. Especially a child. He’s thoughtful and nurturing and helps you believe in yourself. I can think of no greater quality of man to be a father.

Our Home and Community
We live in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, CA, near Lake Balboa park and lots of schools. We have a two-story house with a big backyard for playing and BBQing. Our neighborhood is diverse, with a mixture of many different backgrounds of people. Several of our neighbors just had babies, so we are excited to raise a child in a community with other kids. We also love to go on walks around our neighborhood to see the flowers and the trees and the different kinds of houses and landscaping. Many of our neighbors go walking with their children in strollers or riding a bike. We can’t wait to join them with our future child as well.
Five Fav’s in Our City
- Walking around our local park because it’s so big and has so much to do and enjoy in nature
- Jogging at our local gym to stay physically healthy and fit
- Exploring our neighborhood because we enjoy looking at different houses and gardens
- Hiking through the mountains because their views are breathtaking
- Going to the beaches because they keep us connected to water and sunshine
Our Family and Friends
We both come from a HUGE community of family and friends! Both of our parents live in Detroit, MI, where we grew up. Jimmy’s younger brother Ray and his wife, Ahnna, live in Austin, Texas. And Dominique’s younger brother Frantz and his wife Yvonne have two young sons, Zavi, who is almost 2, and Frantz Jr., who is 3, so they are very excited about gaining some cousins to play with.
Our best friends, Mai and Mike, live in Los Angeles and have two kids that are our godchildren. We love spending time with them!
In addition to our big family, we also have a TON of friends in New York, Los Angeles, Detroit and all over the country. Everywhere we go, we make family. We know that family runs deeper than blood. Family for us is about love and support, and we are blessed to have such a huge community of people to raise a child within.
