How We Met and Life Today
We met working at the same nonprofit organization in Los Angeles, California. Gloria worked on the finance/accounting side of the nonprofit and Eric worked on the programs side. After working together for several years, we became friends and started to develop feelings for one another. A work place romance began as we started dating and eventually got married. We bought a quaint house in the quiet community just eight miles from Downtown Los Angeles. We spend a lot of time with our families, cooking, eating, playing games, watching movies and having a lot of laughs. We also like to take vacations and have been fortunate to travel to Hawaii, Paris, New Orleans, Washington, D.C. and San Francisco. We have a loving relationship and always dreamed of extending that to start a family of our own. After years of heartache trying on our own we spent a lot of time reflecting and praying and know in our hearts that adoption is an exciting way to fulfill this dream.

A Little About Eric, By Eric
I enjoy spending time with my parents and sister’s family. Almost every Sunday we get together to share a meal and play board or video games, tag or hide and go seek, or relax and watch a movie. I also love playing golf because I get to spend time outdoors. I find the game to mimic life because there are some really great memories that stay with you forever and there are challenges that you need to find ways to work through.
My career has been an extension of my personal passion to help other people and with a career in the nonprofit and philanthropic sector I have dedicated my life to serving the underserved. In my current job I am able to learn and figure out ways to address homelessness, hunger, poor education, and challenges to health care.
About Eric, By Gloria
Eric’s love for life is one of the reasons why I fell in love with him. He loves cooking, playing golf, traveling and spending time with friends and family. He can be silly and funny like when he dances in the middle of the clothing aisle at the mall. He is caring and thoughtful like when he cares for his parents and is attentive calling them during the week to make sure they are well.

A Little About Gloria
I am very close to my parents and sister and spend time with them by eating my mom’s delicious cooking, talking about life, and watching fantasy shows and movies like Doctor Who and Harry Potter. I have special days I spend with my sister when we will go see a movie, watch a play like Wicked, or do our annual trip to Disneyland and California Adventure. I also like to plan parties and do crafts. As the Controller/Budget Director of a small private university, I do finance and accounting and am responsible to oversee how the money is being spent to effectively teach the students. I work with a great team but l love being able to mentor student workers who, like me are first generation college students. I not only teach them the technical part of finance and accounting but teach them soft skills that you can’t learn in the classroom like how to conduct yourself in a business dinner.

Home Sweet Home
We love Los Angeles. Our neighborhood is close to downtown and our offices but it also has the charm of a little town where you know your neighbors and often can run into people you know while grocery shopping or enjoying dinner at a local restaurant. We are fortunate to have some really good friends including Eric’s childhood friend live around the area. During the summer time we enjoy an afternoon walk around the neighborhood.
Each year Eric’s side of the family takes turns in hosting the annual holiday potlucks. We get to host Easter. Gloria love’s planning a get together and gets creative with centerpieces, desserts, and play activities for the kids (including the Easter egg hunt).
Interests and Hobbies
Eric likes to watch sports and being born in Chicago likes the Bears and Cubs but having grown up in Los Angeles likes the Lakers, Kings and Rams. He’s also an English Premier League soccer fan and follows London-based Tottenham Hotspur. He likes to play golf and go on walks for exercise. Traveling is a real passion for Eric. In addition to traveling within the United States he’s also traveled internationally to the Philippines, Mexico, England, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria. Gloria enjoys learning new things which explains the guitar that sits in our small home office, the French and Tagalog language learning books and apps on her phone, the self-development growth books and the many arts and crafts projects she does. With Eric’s influence and help Gloria found the joy of playing golf and especially hitting balls in the driving range.
Love Makes a Family
Gloria and Eric are very close to their families and usually find some time on the weekends to see them.
Eric’s: My parents live close by in the same Los Angeles suburban home where I was raised. In their retirement they have a genuine love of life finding time to travel the world, spend time with their family and friends and go to the movies. I still like to joke with my sister like we did when growing up together. My sister is married and has a boy and a girl that we love a lot. It is common for us to go to their sporting games, dance and music recitals, go to the movies and the zoo, or have their favorites ramen or fried chicken tenders. I am also very close to my cousins on my mother’s side where we hang out together on an ordinary weekend day or a long weekend, eat good food together, travel together, play fantasy football and golf. We also have an annual holiday Secret Santa where we give a special gift to one another.
Gloria: I come from a small family but a strong and loving one. My parents have served as role models for me and my younger sister. They have shown us the importance of hard work, determination and family. I enjoy my calls with my mother as I commute to and from work. My sister and I are very close and share a friendship like no other. I look forward to our “Sister Day” outings to Disneyland, to the theatre or a movie. I enjoy her baked goodies and we both enjoy searching through Pinterest and finding new crafts to try. My parents and sister are looking forward the day they can welcome and love their first grandchild, niece or nephew.
Eric: While my friends live across the county and have busy lives, we will find time to attend birthday parties, scheduled dinners, or play a round of golf. During the holidays, my high school friends travel from around the country back to Los Angeles where we get together to have lunch and play a trivia game. The family who wins gets to keep a framed picture of the movie The Breakfast Club for the year as a trophy. Together, we also pick a charity and make a financial contribution as a holiday gift.
Gloria: I am fortunate to have a circle of friends that I consider my extended family. I have friends from elementary, college and graduate school that I stay in touch with and every so often enjoy brunch, dinner or a friendly text or call with. It is always nice to meet with them and their extended families and see how easy it is to pick up as if no time has gone by.
