Hi! My name is Erin from Los Angeles, California. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I know that if you’re reading this, you’re in the midst of making a truly brave and incredibly loving decision, and I want to start by saying how much I respect and admire your strength. I would be honored to be considered as a potential adoptive parent. Becoming a mom is something I’ve dreamt about for a long time, and I’m so ready to welcome a child into my home and my heart.

My journey to adoption has been shaped by both my own life experiences and the family I come from. My mom has worked for many years at St. Joseph’s Children’s Home in Kentucky—an organization that supports children in finding loving adoptive families—and so from a young age, I was taught to see adoption not just as a path to parenthood, but as something truly beautiful and meaningful. When I learned that it would likely be difficult for me to conceive naturally, it didn’t take long for me to realize that adoption was exactly how I was meant to become a mother. The choice felt natural, and honestly, exciting.

I grew up in Kentucky in a loud, big-hearted family, with two brothers, the world’s most supportive parents, and a whole lot of lake days and board games. That’s where I learned to water-ski, got my love of storytelling, and developed a fierce streak of competitiveness in games like Scrabble and Stratego (I still hold the title!). Eventually, I followed my dream and moved to Los Angeles to become a television writer. In Los Angeles, I've built an amazing community of friends who share my passion for travel and trying as many restaurants as possible. I’ve also formed a network of single moms, other women who have started their families on their own, who inspire me everyday.

One thing that I’m very proud of in my life is the career I’ve built for myself. I never get tired of being a comedy TV writer. I’ve been lucky to work on shows like Will & Grace, and That 90s Show. Currently I am on a Netflix animated comedy. While TV writing can be fast-paced, it’s also flexible—I get long breaks in between seasons, kind of like a summer vacation, which I plan to use for fun trips and time with my future child. I try to live life with joy and curiosity, and while I work hard, I never take myself too seriously.

I love being outside—especially hiking the trails around LA with my dog, Luna. There’s one trail in Malibu that ends at a waterfall that’s my absolute favorite spot, and I imagine the day I get to bring my child there for the first time. When I’m not outside, I’m usually being crafty. I’m obsessed with embroidery (at one point I even had a little Etsy shop where I sold Harry Potter–themed embroidery for charity). I’m already dreaming up the handmade onesies and nursery art I’ll get to create. I also grew up on the water, spending summers boating and swimming in Kentucky, and I’ve kept that love alive by getting out on the ocean here in California as much as possible.

One of my favorite things in the world is train travel. I’ve done many Amtrak trips, but also traveled internationally just for certain train journeys. I’ve done trips in England, Scotland, and Peru where I took a three day train trip over the Andes. I followed that one up by hiking Machu Picchu with my mom!

I live on a peaceful street in the San Fernando Valley, a cozy neighborhood in Los Angeles that feels like its own little world. My home has a large yard I love—a place where I grill dinner, grow herbs, there’s even a cute swing in the giant willow tree out front. There are great public parks nearby, and I’m within walking distance of two wonderful schools. It’s a neighborhood where kids ride their bikes and neighbors say hello, but I’m also just a short drive from the beaches of Malibu, the museums of downtown, and—very importantly—Disneyland. My favorite thing about my home, though, is how it feels. It’s warm, inviting, and full of little corners meant for reading, playing, creating, and cuddling. I’ve spent a lot of time making it a space where a child will feel safe, inspired, and totally loved. One of the best things about my community is that there is an active planning committee in my neighborhood. Every year they put on an elaborate block party complete with water slides and balloon tosses.

Luna is a giant lab mix. She is the sweetest most attentive dog who loves to go on long hikes and chase down little critters along the way.

Family means everything to me. I’m lucky to be close with my parents, who recently bought a house just a few miles away from mine so they can be nearby as I start this next chapter. They are incredibly supportive and excited to become grandparents for the first time! I also have two brothers who are both married and thinking about kids of their own, so a cousin crew may be in the future. My extended family is still in Kentucky, and I visit every year for lake time, holidays, and family reunions filled with food, laughter, and probably a few heated card games. I’m very excited that my parents have finally bought a home in Los Angeles, only three miles away from my house! My parents aren’t retired just yet, but once they are, they plan to split their time 50/50 between Los Angeles and Kentucky. I’m excited to finally have relatives in California.

Here in Los Angeles I’ve built a chosen family of dear friends who are just as excited about this adoption as I am. My future child will grow up surrounded by people who love them deeply—in California and Kentucky alike.

I believe that children thrive when they feel secure, supported, and unconditionally loved. That’s what I plan to give every single day. I want my child to grow up proud of their adoption story, knowing it began with love and courage. From the very beginning, adoption will be something we talk about openly, honestly, and positively. As a parent, I’ll encourage curiosity, creativity, and kindness. I’ll be there to help with homework, to cheer on their soccer games or piano recitals (even if they’re terrible), and to be their safe space no matter what. I want to raise a child who knows they are deeply valued and always, always enough.

If there’s one thing I hope you take away, it’s that I have so much love to give—and I’m ready to give it fully and joyfully. I’m excited about the future, and about the possibility of building a family that is full of warmth, fun, and deep connection.
