We are Evan and Jordan from Oakland, California! Thank you for taking the time to get to know and consider us as potential parents for your child. We know you have given adoption a lot of thought and we’re inspired by your bravery to embark on this journey.

We’ve been preparing for this moment for a long time. The diverse community that we live in and our loving and nurturing families and friends, have shaped us to be more caring, sympathetic people and we can’t wait to share those values with a child of our own. Thank you for considering us – we look forward to meeting you!

We met on a hot August day over seven years ago in San Francisco. Our first date was at a café near Evan’s house where we spent hours talking about our favorite TV shows, our families, and our love of travel. From the moment we met laughter became an important part of our lives. Evan is always cracking cheesy jokes just to get a laugh and a smile out of Jordan, and Jordan’s dry sense of humor always has Evan in stitches.

Our careers are important to us both (Jordan in Finance and Evan in Tech). They have provided us with a stable life while helping to build our character as hard working, dedicated and compassionate individuals. On the weekends you can find us exploring our local community and everything it has to offer. Whether it’s a Saturday trip to the farmers market for fresh produce, or having dinner with friends and family at our favorite restaurants in Oakland, we love experiencing everything our community has to offer.

Recently, Evan’s sister, and many of our close friends, have built families of their own and have become significant aspects of our lives. Now our weekends are filled with backyard barbecues, kids playing on the lawn, trips to the zoo, and other fun adventures. These experiences have strengthened our desire to build a family of our own and share our passion for life with our own child.

While he’s lived in California for over ten years, Jordan is still a friendly Midwesterner at heart. He’s hardworking and always willing to lend a helping hand. He’s the first to welcome a new neighbor to the neighborhood, plan a celebration for a special occasion, or bake a cake for a friend who is under the weather. With Jordan, his word is his bond. When he says he’ll be over to help my mom pull weeds in her garden next weekend, he’ll be there with a shovel and a smile on his face. And he’s the type of person who will laugh at my jokes even if he doesn’t think they’re funny.

I knew Jordan would be a great father early on in our relationship. His family is so important to him and I’m in awe of how patient he is with the kids in our life. He’s a natural mentor and will not only be able to teach our child how to hit a tennis ball but how to balance a checkbook and be responsible with money too. He’ll be the calm center of our household (as he already is!) and is dedicated to creating a happy and healthy home for our child.

Evan is a true Californian in every sense of the word.  He loves the simple pleasures of living here; the warm weather, the wildlife, and of course the food. He lives in a world of optimism where anything can be achieved, no matter the limitations, and can always find the silver lining with challenging situations. He is passionate about his convictions and is the first person to stand up for what he feels is right in the world. Evan quickly, and unconditionally, accepted my family and friends into his life as his own, and to love and trust those closest to him without hesitation or question.

Evan has helped me expand my views to be more open to the world and people’s differences. As a father, I know he will instill values and qualities that will provide our child with a balance of fairness, confidence, compassion and amusement. Evans creativity and ability to find laughter and fun in every situation will be something special that our child will see and feel for their entire life; whether building a fort, playing ball or simple every day tasks like grocery shopping and making dinner.

Adventure! We always seem to be planning our next travel adventure. Evan loves trying new and exotic foods and Jordan loves to admire the architecture in whatever city we’re exploring. Experiencing new cultures and building memories together is exciting to us and we look forward to sharing that with our child.

When we’re not planning our next trip, you’ll find us cooking for our family and friends, snuggled on the couch reading (Jordan loves economic magazines), or tending to our garden (Evan has the green thumb). We’re both very active – Jordan runs on a daily basis and Evan is an avid cyclist (once completing a ride from San Francisco to LA!). Together we love to play tennis, check out our local flea market, or hike one of the many trails in our area.

We have called the Oakland Hills home for the past four years. It’s an area with many young, diverse families and we’re always catching up with our neighbors in the driveway. We have designed our home to be a place of warmth, comfort, and entertainment not only for ourselves, but also for our friends and family too – our door is always open for them to stop by! To us, there is nothing better than cooking way too much food and spending evenings on the deck laughing at each other’s stories from the week, playing board games, or just catching up with friends over our favorite takeout.

Jordan’s parents and extended family live in Ohio. Growing up his mom was a “professional babysitter” and is excited to meet her first grandchild. His stepdad is a kid at heart – he loves setting up his model train collection every Christmas and showing it off to the neighborhood kids. Our child will travel to Northeast Ohio often to visit family, explore the lakes and countryside, and experience life in a small town.

Evan was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area where his parents, sisters, and extended family still live. His mom and dad, affectionately called Lulu and Fafa, are both artistic and musical and will provide countless opportunities for art projects, gardening and guitar sing-a-longs for our child. With grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins close by; our child will be the latest addition to a large, close-knit family!

Our friends Kristin and Tim, with their twins, have been an inspiration to us as we prepare to build a family of our own. They have provided us with a great example of what it means to be supportive, compassionate, and caring parents.

Having pets were a big part of our lives growing up and we both have always loved cats. We like to say Howard and Gayle were meant for us (they were born on Evan’s birthday!) as they fit our personalities perfectly. Howard’s a bit rambunctious and Gayle is a little more reserved – the perfect balance!

From early in our relationship we knew we wanted to raise a family together and often wondered what it will be like to share our world with a child of our own. We’re excited to see their eyes light up as they discover the sight and sounds of the world around them. We can’t wait to hear them laugh, tell their first joke, and be nervous on their first day of school. We will teach them that they are brave, smart, kind, and to be respectful of others. As parents, we hope our child knows they are loved everyday and that they can do anything they want in life.

It has been a long time dream to build a family together and we can’t wait to meet our little one. We are both so excited to become fathers and we look forward to getting to know you and continuing this conversation. From the bottom of our heart, thank you for considering us!
