We live in the Los Angeles area with our two rescue pups, Lola and Vince, and are so excited to become parents. We can’t wait to welcome a child into our loving home and create new adventures together as a family. By sharing a glimpse of our lives, we hope you feel some reassurance as you make this important decision. We recognize the magnitude of your choice and deeply admire your courage and selflessness. We have always seen adoption as a beautiful way to build a family. While we’ve faced challenges with infertility and are currently undergoing treatments, we feel deeply called to begin or complete our family through adoption. We have close friends who have built their families through adoption, and witnessing their journeys has shown us just how meaningful and transformative this process can be. With careers in education and the fire service, we bring a strong family mindset and are committed to providing a loving, stable, and nurturing home for a child. Our shared commitment to service and family has guided us to this path, and we are beyond excited to welcome a child into our hearts and lives.

We met briefly (no more than 3 minutes) in 2006 through a mutual friend at what was to be Sergio’s “huge” graduation party, but instead turned out to be more of an intimate gathering of five—awkward! Two days later, we were on the phone for hours, and that same night, we went on our first date to Universal City Walk in Sergio’s red Mustang. We instantly connected over our shared values and goals, both coming from hardworking Mexican immigrant families with big dreams and aspirations. We married in 2016 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and have been happily married since. Today, we enjoy traveling, trying new foods, attending football and baseball games, spending time with our dogs, and hosting family and friends for holidays, barbecues, or a swim in our pool. We’re incredibly grateful for the life and home we’ve built and are excited for what the future holds.

While I was a shy child, I’ve always had a witty sense of humor, a love for trying new things (especially foods), and a deep sense of wonder and adventure. I grew up in a lively, full house with three siblings, each of us years apart, and a constant flow of cousins, relatives, and friends. That joyful chaos taught me the importance of family, along with the values of kindness, respect, and empathy. I’ve kept lifelong friendships and am a loyal friend who shows up to celebrate life’s milestones. I especially love to travel and attend sporting events with family and friends.

As a high school counselor, I mentor students with empathy and respect, offering guidance and a space for them to feel supported. I’m known as the “cool tía” to my nieces, nephews, and my friends’ kids, and I love being a positive presence in their lives. I look forward to bringing all these qualities into parenting, instilling a strong work ethic, a sense of adventure, a love for life, appreciation for family, and respect for all in my future child.

From the very beginning, I knew Evelyn had a special gift for caring for others. Her warmth and natural motherly instinct are what made me fall in love with her, and over the years I’ve seen those qualities shine through in everything she does. She is thoughtful, supportive, and selfless, always putting the needs of others before her own and bringing joy to the people around her. Evelyn has a way of making family and friends feel deeply cared for, and I know those same qualities will make her a loving, patient, and fun mother. I couldn’t be more excited to step into parenthood with her and to build a life full of memories, adventure, and love for our future child. Her natural instinct to care for others is what makes her so special.

I’ve always been someone who enjoys making people laugh, trying new things, and spending time with family and friends. Growing up, I learned the importance of hard work, loyalty, and showing up for the people you care about. Those values have shaped the way I live my life today. As a firefighter, I’m proud to serve my community, and the job has taught me teamwork, compassion, and staying calm under pressure. Outside of work, I love traveling, watching sports, barbecuing, and being with the people I love. I’m excited to become a dad and share my sense of adventure, humor, and steady presence with our child, while creating a safe and loving home together with Evelyn.

Sergio is one of the hardest-working and most goal-oriented people I know. He’s kind, smart, and always thinks of others. He has a strong sense of responsibility and is incredibly rational, always doing what’s right, even when it’s not easy. What I admire most about him is his ability to make people feel cared for. He loves cooking for others, whether it's for family or at the fire station. He’s also the first to offer a hand to a stranger in need, always quick to help, whether it's on the street or as a host at home. When it comes to kids, Sergio is the fun-loving uncle. He’s the one rolling around on the floor with them, making them laugh, and keeping the energy high by riling them up for adventures. His playful spirit is contagious, and enjoys having kids over. I know he’s going to bring that same enthusiasm and warmth into parenting. His love for kids, combined with his thoughtful nature, will make Sergio an amazing dad.

We love spending time together at home, whether we're cooking in our outdoor kitchen, trying new recipes in our pizza oven, or exploring new restaurants nearby. Travel is something we value, giving us the chance to experience new cultures and make lasting memories together. Staying active is important to us. We enjoy walking our dogs at the park, working out in our garage gym, and spending time outdoors. Sergio loves running, basketball, and marathons, while Evelyn enjoys reading and relaxing by the pool during summer. We both love music, like catching live shows, spinning records, or singing karaoke in our living room. We’re big sports fans and love cheering on the Dodgers, Rams, and Lakers. We also enjoy hosting family and friends for holidays and game days and can’t wait to share all of this with our future child.

We live in Covina, a welcoming community east of downtown Los Angeles and just a short drive from local beaches, Hollywood, Dodger stadium, the mountains, and Disneyland. We have put a lot of love into making our home a warm and inviting place where family and friends always feel welcome. Decorating for the holidays and changing seasons is one of our favorite traditions, and we like to think we have inspired some of our neighbors to join in the fun. Our recently renovated backyard has a fenced-in pool and spa, an outdoor kitchen, and a cozy fire pit that make it perfect for family time and gatherings. We live on a quiet cul-de-sac with kind, thoughtful neighbors who look out for one another.

One of our favorite things about living here is being just a mile from lively downtown Covina, where we often walk for dinner, coffee, or weekend treats. We are also less than a mile from a park that hosts events year-round, including Fourth of July celebrations, pancake breakfasts, car shows, and the beloved Christmas parade. It's a community we know will be a wonderful place to raise a child.

We adore dogs and feel lucky to share our lives with our two rescues, Lola and Vince. Lola joined us just before our wedding and has been part of every chapter since, traveling with us, cuddling like a lap dog, and winning over family and friends. Vince came to us last year after his mom was rescued from a shelter just before giving birth. Born with a missing ear flap, his name is an ode to Vincent Van Gogh, and he has grown into a happy, goofy, and lovable pup. Lola is the best big sister, and together they bring so much fun and love to our home. Life is better with Lola and Vince by our side.

Family is at the center of our lives. Evelyn comes from a big, close family of four siblings with big age gaps. Her older brother lives in Dallas with three adult sons, her sister has three children (one now a mom of two), and her younger brother recently welcomed a baby girl who’s quickly become the star of family gatherings. Evelyn’s parents, hardworking Mexican immigrants, are the heart of the family. Her mom is famous for her Christmas tamales. With everyone living nearby, they get together often. Sergio’s parents, also Mexican immigrants, have proudly owned a local Mexican restaurant for over 40 years. He has one older brother and one younger sister, and his brother’s two kids—a middle schooler and a ten-year-old—keep family time lively. His parents and brother live just a few minutes away, and the family restaurant is close by too. Our close-knit circle of family and friends is a huge part of our lives, and they’re all so excited to welcome another little one.

We love hosting and celebrating holidays and have many favorite traditions. One of the biggest is Christmas Eve, when both of our families gather at our home to make tamales, play Lotería, and compete in a lively White Elephant exchange. Evelyn also loves Halloween and goes all out with creative costumes, often matching with Lola and Vince or niece and nephews for extra fun. We enjoy taking part in community events through Sergio's work as a fire captain, like open houses, fundraisers, and the annual holiday breakfast where fire families gather and Santa visits the kids. We look forward to sharing these special firehouse traditions and family celebrations with our future child.

Family, culture, and kindness will always be at the heart of our parenting. We hope to pass on the same values our families instilled in us: kindness, empathy, respect, and a strong sense of community. We look forward to creating a home filled with love, laughter, and connection. We want our children to feel grounded in their roots, proud of who they are, and eager to embrace the world around them. We are grateful to still have our parents in our lives and hope our future child learns from their examples of resilience, hard work, and devotion to family and tradition. Through our work with children and in our community, we’ve learned the importance of being present and intentional. We promise to prioritize our children, nurture their interests, and fill their lives with encouragement, adventure, and joy. Although we’ve already checked off many dreams from our bucket list, our greatest adventures are still ahead—family trips to Japan and Italy, exploring national parks in a camper van, and one day building a vacation home in Mexico to connect with our heritage. Living near beaches, mountains, and parks makes it easy to enjoy the outdoors, and we can’t wait to share those experiences as a family.
