Hello! We are Jenn and James from Los Angeles, California. We want to start by acknowledging your bravery and strength as you pursue an adoption plan for your child. We have the utmost respect for you, and we are honored that you are taking the time to consider us.
Family is the most important thing to us. We have had a long journey of infertility and loss, but we now know that adoption is our best path to parenthood.
We are excited to become a family and we have so much love to give. Our goal is to raise a child with encouragement, support and guidance so they may live a life full of potential, opportunity and love. We know it takes a courageous and caring person to choose the path to adoption, and we are ready and willing to embark on this journey with you.
We met at a mutual friend’s barbecue in Brooklyn, New York. We discovered that we grew up an hour away from one another in Maine and we even knew many of the same people, but had never met! It was an instant attraction as we bonded over our love for food, adventurous travel and the ocean.
We were engaged while on a trip visiting Barcelona, Spain. A year later we were married on an island off the coast of Maine with our closest friends and family. We ate lobsters and blueberry pie and rode home on a boat into the sunset.
We moved to Los Angeles to pursue our careers and we now live at what we lovingly call our “urban farm” with our chickens, fruit trees and garden.
Jenn is an extraordinary person. She has boundless energy, somehow finding the time to work a full time job helping veterans while also running a jewelry business and baking bread every week! She is a deeply loving and caring person, always first in line to help others in need. I can’t wait to see her become a mom, because I know she has was it takes, a strong work ethic, a tireless compassion and a deep love for life. She always seems to know what to do when it comes to kids.
Jenn works as a Nurse Practitioner at the Veterans hospital in Los Angeles. She sees patients from every walk of life and makes sure they have the care they need. She’s a deeply empathic nurse and has even started a “whole health” program that will teach veterans how to garden and eat healthy.
James is my best friend. He makes me laugh harder and dance sillier than anyone I’ve ever known. He is fiercely caring, kind and creative. He is a charismatic storyteller and has a vivid imagination. He is supportive and encouraging and makes me strive to be a better person. I can’t wait for the day he becomes a dad, my heart explodes just thinking about it. He has so much love and compassion to give. I look forward to raising a child with James and the many camping trips, story times and music recitals that it will involve.
James currently works as a storyboard supervisor for live-action Disney movies. He also works freelance as a screenwriter for film and television. He loves his work because he gets to use his imagination and creative skills to tell stories. He works mainly from home, but has the option to work in his office in Burbank. This means he has the flexibility for child care.
We live in Eagle Rock, a safe and quiet suburb of Los Angeles, California. We have a big backyard with a vegetable garden, fruit trees and a chicken coop. It’s a perfect haven for children to play and explore. Our neighborhood is full of young families with small children, and on the weekends we like to go to the farmers market or check out the shops and restaurants. We are minutes from three beautiful botanical gardens and the LA Zoo and of course, a short drive from Disneyland!
Our families are the most important thing to us. They live in New England and we love to visit them several times a year. We take two weeks during the summer so we can spend some time in a cabin on a lake fishing, swimming and roasting marshmallows on the campfire.
We also always go home for Christmas because there is no place more magical than New England for the holidays. We build snowmen with our niece and nephew and drink hot cocoa by Jenn’s Mom’s fireplace.
We love having visitors to California, taking family for days trips to Malibu, or overnight to Joshua Tree National Park. And when the kids come we take them to Disneyland.
Beulah (“B-yoo-La”) is our best friend! We got her as a puppy nearly 11 years ago when we were living in a very small apartment in Brooklyn. She is a chocolate lab who enjoys all snacks, begging for food when she’s not eating snacks, long naps and swimming. She is very friendly and loves people.
Thank you so much for your time and considering us as potential adoptive parents of your child. It would be an incredible honor and privilege to be given the opportunity to raise your child in our loving household. We intend to raise our child to know just how much courage and love it took for you to make this decision. We wish you the best on your journey. We thank you for taking the time to get to know us.
