We are Jennifer and Chad from Centerville, Ohio. THANK YOU for taking the time to learn more about us. Not a day has gone by since we have started this process that we haven't prayed over you. We value you and the gift of life you are giving your baby. It is our deepest desire for you to know how loved, valued and important you and your baby are to not only us, but to God. We admire your compassion for your child and your courage to consider adoption. Our promise to you is that we will provide your child with a loving, nurturing, fun family and life.
Dear Birth Mother
We met in July of 2011 after meeting online on Plentyoffish.com and decided to meet in person at a Starbucks in Lynwood, Washington. After we closed down the Starbucks we moved to a Teriyaki place for dinner where we continued talking and getting to know each other. From that point on we were inseparable. While we were dating we were lucky to go on numerous fun adventures, including wine tasting in Eastern Washington, a vacation in Canada with a group of friends and even a trip to Texas. We knew very early in the relationship that we were meant for each other.
In early 2013 we went camping at a retired Navy base. Chad was going to propose when we were on a hike, but he got cold feet. When we got back to the cabin, I turned around to ask Chad a question, and to my surprise he was standing there with a ring asking me to marry him. We married on September 21, 2013, at Chad’s parent's house in Snohomish, Washington. In October of 2018, we moved to Centerville, Ohio for Chad's job. We have enjoyed our new adventure of being in Ohio, but we look forward to being able to return to our home state of Washington.
I grew up on five acres outside of a small town in Washington. I really enjoyed being raised in the country surrounded by animals and riding ATVs. Despite growing up in the country, my favorite hobby growing up was playing video games. I turned my hobby of video games into my current career as a software engineer. My job is both challenging and rewarding, just like the video games I grew up playing. I like to balance being techy with spending time in nature. I was in the boy scouts growing up and found a lifelong love of hiking and camping. Spending a weekend in nature with no screens or gadgets around is very refreshing after spending the week in front of a computer screen. I look forward to spending time with our future child doing all types of activities, both high tech and low tech. I look forward to trips to the zoo, teaching them how to swim, how to ride a bicycle, how to drive and preparing them for college and for the world they will experience.
About Chad, by Jennifer
CHAD TAKES ON LIFE AND HIS JOB WITH SO MUCH LOVE AND PASSION IT’S HARD NOT TO BE INSPIRED. He gets up in the morning excited that he is going into work. He is always writing down ideas for Apps and games to make in his free time. A couple of years ago he made a “Countdown to Christmas” app that is in the Google Play Store. He has a very close relationship with his parents which makes life so special. He loves to find local arcades or places to make the things that he had thought of in his head. He is always thinking long term and not in the moment. I have learned so much from him about being patient as he always takes his time to make decisions. He is also an amazing teacher and has the ability to communicate in a way so that everyone can relate and understand.
I was born and raised in Everett, Washington. I enjoyed being able to spend time with my Grandparents’ in Winlock, Washington on a chicken farm as well being out on a boat in the San Juan Islands. I feel that I had the best of both worlds on land and sea.
I went to PIMA Medical School where I was top of my class and became a Certified Medical Assistant. I currently work for group of Cardiovascular Surgeons as a Front Office Specialist and I enjoy every second of it. Currently my work schedule isn’t very flexible, but we plan on me being a stay-at-home mom.
I enjoy reading books, drinking coffee and tea, exploring small towns and being with friends and family. I can’t wait to watch our future child as they see things for the first time. Being able to experience and share the world with a child is a gift we cannot wait for.
About Jennifer, by Chad
JENNIFER WAS BORN TO BE A MOM. While on our honeymoon on a beach in Mexico, Jennifer overheard a woman mention she forgot her sunscreen. Jennifer immediately walked over to the stranger and offered to share her own sunscreen. Jennifer just wants to keep the people around her safe and happy, and is just a natural-born caretaker. She once took two days off to take care of her sick niece when her parents had to work.
Jennifer is also hilarious and can quote The Office at the most appropriate moments.
Meet Our Friends & Family
Chad is close to his parents, Mike and Ariel, and we already have plans to visit their farm a few times per year. When Chad’s parents are traveling in their RV, Mike spends the day keeping the family farm in pristine condition. He even built a playset for when extended family comes over for family gatherings (Chad’s cousins and their children number in the dozens). Ariel is a retired school teacher and the social butterfly of the family. She plans all the big family events and makes sure everyone is well-fed.
Jennifer’s parents divorced when she was young and both have since re-married. Her Dad, Brian, and stepmom, Gretchen live on the San Juan Islands in Washington State and run a Safety Consulting Company. Her mom, Kathy, and stepdad, Carl, are retired living in La Paz, Mexico. Jennifer’s brother Michael, and sister- in-law Cassie, have two girls Kylie and Madison. She also has two stepbrothers and two stepsisters.
MEET OHANA & HONU. They are half-brothers we rescued two years apart. Ohana is a nationally recognized therapy dog, he is very sweet, cuddly and likes to go with the flow. Honu, is a ball of energy, loves to play and be on the go and to meet new people. He is such a smart dog, we are always having to find new ways to challenge him. They are both great with kids and we know they can’t wait to be big brothers.
Where We Call Home
IN OUR HOME, WE ARE DO-IT-YOURSELFERS. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen making home-cooked meals. We like to use all-natural products and food when we can, so we know where our food is coming from. We do our own landscaping because we enjoy growing plants and gardening, we also know the products we use our dog and child-friendly. No pesticides or herbicides are used on our lawn or garden.
We always have a home improvement project going on, just to make our house our own. Our bookshelf is overflowing with books, and we love curling up with a good book on the couch. The Centerville school district is ranked #2 in the greater Dayton area and #20 in all school districts in Ohio. Our community really works together as it takes a village, to turn amazing children into outstanding adults.
Closing and Final Thoughts
We hope that you feel a little closer to us and have learned more about who we are and who we plan to be as parents.
While there is much going on in the world, we want to be the light in a dark place and our hope as future parents is to raise a child who has respect for their elders and understanding of their past. We want our future child to know how loved they are by you and by everyone around them.
