I have always known that I wanted to be a mom. I’ve spent many years helping to raise children in my job as a nanny. Now feels like the perfect time to put that wealth of knowledge into becoming a mom. When I thought about starting my family, I knew there were a few different options to consider.

I also knew that what was important to me was having a child, not giving birth to one. Knowing that, adoption felt like the right path for me. I have worked hard to build a home that I’m proud of, and I’m excited to be able to raise a family in it.

Two of the most important things in my life are my family and my friends. I grew up in Rhode Island and moved all around New England as an adult before settling in Tennessee about 5 years ago. I enjoy exploring Tennessee. Farmers’ markets and craft fairs are my favorite!

My mom is one of my best friends, and happens to live across the street from me. We get to see each other almost every day. We help each other with household projects, go on walks, have dinner together, and explore Nashville. She is an amazing example of the kind of mom I hope to be.

My friends along with my family, are my village. I love getting to spend time with my friends’ kids, who are like my honorary nieces and nephews.

I have worked hard to get where I am, all with the goal of adoption in mind. I bought a house and have worked really hard to create the kind of home I would want to bring a child into. I am very proud of the home and support system that I have built.

I am so excited to share my future with a child. I can’t wait to celebrate holidays and enjoy our family traditions with them. I am so excited to travel with them and show them the world. But most of all, I’m looking forward to the completely ordinary day-to-day moments.

I love all sorts of arts and crafts, especially painting pottery. Every New Year’s Eve, my best friend and I paint pottery together. It has become a really fun and special tradition for both of us. Scrapbooking is another of my favorites. My scrapbooks hold treasured memories, and I can’t wait to create one of this journey.

I love to travel, both within the US and internationally. I can’t wait to travel with our child and show them the world. My family used to travel to visit my grandparents in Indiana and Florida a few times a year. When visiting my grandparents in Florida, we always went to Disney with them. I can’t wait to experience Disney again through the eyes of a child. Some of my favorite travel adventures outside of the US have been London, Rome, and Australia.

If I'm not traveling, I love getting lost in a good book. My favorite genre is romantasy (a combination of fantasy and romance). When I read a book that becomes a favorite, I make sure I purchase a copy for my bookshelf. I try to find one with sprayed edges, as those are my favorite to collect.

One of my other favorite hobbies is music. I enjoy going to concerts to see live music, playing records at home, and singing along to music in the car. When I think of becoming a mother, I think about sharing my love of reading, music, art, and travel with my child.

I have been a nanny for about 14 years and have also worked in preschools and infant/toddler classrooms. I have a degree in early childhood education. I have worked with children my whole life, even when I was a child myself. I used to volunteer in my mom’s kindergarten, first, and second grade classrooms. I started babysitting as soon as I was old enough, and helped out in the baby room at church while growing up. There has never been any doubt for me that my calling was to work with children and be a mom.

I live about 20 minutes from downtown Nashville, Tennessee. I live in a cute, little, close-knit community that is very safe and walkable. There are always people out walking with their dogs or kids. I love that everyone in the community seems to look out for their neighbors. I have a great fenced-in backyard where my dog loves to play fetch. I enjoy sitting out on my patio to read while she suns herself. There are many great playgrounds nearby, including two within walking distance of my house.

One of my favorite things about my house is watching the hummingbirds out of my kitchen windows. There's also a cute little cherry blossom tree in my front yard that I love seeing change with the seasons.

I’m looking forward to experiencing the seasons and special holiday traditions as a mother, as well as all of the little everyday moments, like playground trips, cuddling up on the couch to read together, lazy Saturday mornings, playdates with my friends and their kids, and splash pad adventures. My dog, Poppins, and cat, Izzy, are so sweet!

My family is my strongest support system. My mom, Muriel, is one of my best friends. Last year, she and my brother, Jay, moved from Rhode Island to a house right across the street from me. Now we have dinner together almost every night. My mom and I enjoy going to farmers' markets and craft fairs together. Our neighborhood is very walkable and safe, making it perfect for our nightly walks. My brother really enjoys being able to help me with projects around the house. My Dad, Scott, lives in Montana with my stepmom, Pam. We FaceTime often and chat about life and books. When I visit them, we enjoy slow breakfasts together and exploring Yellowstone National Park.

My best friends make up the rest of my village. I’ve known most of them for more than half of my life. Kelsey and Melissa both live very close to me. Their children are so excited to meet their new “cousin” and include them in all of our favorite seasonal outings, like the pumpkin patch, splashpad, and strawberry picking. My other best friends Meg and Jill live in Kentucky, and Ash is in Massachusetts. They all can’t wait to become honorary aunties to this baby. We’ve already been talking about what trips we’ll go on together after I adopt. My family and friends are incredibly excited for me to adopt and can’t wait to be involved every step of the way!

Having extensive experience with children and knowledge of child development has helped me develop strong parenting philosophies. I strongly believe in gentle parenting and positive reinforcement. I believe in time-ins, natural consequences, and setting age-appropriate expectations. I am strongly against spanking. I believe that children learn by watching our behavior and by making their own mistakes. It’s important that they feel it’s ok and safe to make mistakes as they grow. Everyone makes mistakes, and it’s what we do after that is most important.

I strongly believe that having an open adoption will only add positive things to our family and my future child’s life. I want to be honest with them about their adoption and their roots, along with all of the love that you have for them.

I feel that my entire life has been building up to this moment. I’m honored by your trust and faith in me, and I feel deep gratitude towards you. I hope to build a strong bond with you and include you in the narrative as an important part of this forever family. I want to be open and honest with our child about their story and all the love that you have for them.

I want our child to grow up knowing that everyone should be treated equally; all feelings are valid and important; always choose kindness; everyone is different, and that’s what makes the world interesting. I want them to know that they can do hard things and that I will always support and love them through everything they do. I hope they grow up celebrating what makes people unique and feeling safe in my unconditional love and support. It is so important to me that you have all of the answers that you need.
