Hello! We are Joel and Sam, along with our son, Theo. We are originally from Australia but now call Los Angeles home. Thank you for taking a moment to learn more about our story. We are honored to share a little bit about our life together with you! We’re grateful that you’ve taken the first step in getting to know us. We live a life full of travel, holidays, homemade family meals, adventure and can’t wait to share this with our growing family. We hope that the next few pages tell you a little bit more about who we are, our son Theo, our little dog Rocky and give you an idea of the loving parents we are. We love being dads.

For us, family is the most beautiful thing in the world. We love the idea of our family growing. We have been together for 10 years and got married in 2019. We first met in Sydney, Australia at a work event. Joel was working for Disney and Sam was working as a television producer and it was love at first sight. In 2020 we moved to the USA and in 2024 adopted Theo from birth and we have never been happier. Five years after meeting we got married at the Sydney Opera House in Australia. We had an amazing ceremony with 100 of our closest family and friends.

We’ve traveled to Italy, visited Buckingham Palace in the UK, climbed to the top of Machu Picchu in Peru, and seen the Eiffel tower in France. A few years ago moved to Los Angeles for an exciting new adventure and last year became citizens. Sam has a job at a movie studio and Joel works in streaming media. We love our lives in America, own our home, and share our love of travel with Theo. He has already been overseas to visit family in Australia.

I grew up in Sydney, Australia with my parents Cheryl and John and one younger sister, Roche. My parents are always incredibly supportive and always told me to be myself. My sister Roche now has two sons and a daughter. My first job was working on a morning TV show and since then I have worked for Disney, Nickelodeon and HBO. I now work on streaming apps like Netflix which is very exciting and lots of fun. I am lucky to have a job that is stable, provides great benefits and is very friendly towards employees with children.

Joel is the most amazing husband and I can’t want to see him become a father. He is amazing with kids and all our nieces and nephews love him. He is funny, kind and always keeps the car very clean! Joel is always there to help friends when they need him and he makes the best lasagna.

I was born in New Zealand – in the same town where they filmed Lord of the Rings. I have two brothers Ryan and Daniel and amazing parents Robyn and Claude who are so supportive of us becoming parents. My mother Robyn was adopted and our journey brings much joy to the family. I went to college and have a degree in media. I now work as a television producer and love my job which is a dream come true. There is a daycare center at my work and they are very supportive of parents.

Sam is funny, filled with joy and brings love wherever he goes. He is very social and always organizes our family traditions. He is patient and caring and is an amazing parent. Sam loves gardening and cooks us healthy meals with vegetables he grows himself.

We live in a very safe, suburban neighborhood in Los Angeles, California. Our tight-knit neighborhood is full of tree-lined streets and lots of other families. We live near a library, and an amazing park with a playground. We chose our area because it has some of the best schools in California. We own our home and have a great fenced-in yard that is grassed and has a big garden and pool. This will be an amazing safe space for our family and we can’t wait to play and create more amazing memories in our home.

We are lucky Theo’s birth parents chose us to be his dads. He brings so much joy to our lives with his dancing, giggles and curiosity. Rocky and Theo became best friend from day one.

Rocky is our beloved Yorkshire Terrier. He came from Australia with us and is full of personality. He loves walks, zoomies around the yard, tummy rubs and his special chicken dinner we cook for him on Sunday nights.

Family is the most important thing. We have very supportive family and friends. Between us we have seven nieces and nephews. We love all getting together for the holidays. We have family reunions where we all travel together, share stories, and create new memories. We look forward to sharing these traditions with our growing and loving family.
