First and foremost we want to thank you for sharing your incredible strength and bravery with us. We look forward to meeting you in person and learning more about you. We believe it is important to share your story and family's history with your child. We have dreamt about being parents for as long as we can remember. Growing up, we both imagined having a family and raising a child in a home filled with unconditional love and support. Since the beginning of our relationship, we agreed that when the time came to start a family, we wanted to do it through adoption. We recognize the momentous decision you are going to make in selecting the parents for your child. Adoption is an incredible gift. We thank you for entrusting us with that gift.
Hello! We are Joshua & Jose from Hollywood, California!
We first connected on an online dating site in late June of 2015. We quickly discovered that we shared several common interests and experiences, including attending the same Dolly Parton concert at the Hollywood Bowl in 2011. In an effort to impress Joshua with his passion for the arts, Jose revealed that he had recently become a season member of a local theatre company, which turned out to be where Joshua worked. On our first date, we met outside the theatre and went to one of Jose’s favorite restaurants. After six hours of conversation, Jose walked Joshua home and afterward thought to himself this had been the perfect first date. When Joshua walked into his apartment, he thought, “This Jose fellow just might be a keeper”.
Five years later, we have built a home together and are excited about expanding our family. We imagine spending time with our future child watching Saturday morning cartoons, going to swimming lessons, displaying art class masterpieces, cheering them on at the game, and curling up in bed to read their favorite bedtime story.
Meet Joshua, By Joshua
I grew up all over the country. By the time I was 18 I had lived in eight different houses in four different states. My Dad worked in finance and his company was constantly relocating him for work. My Mom was a part-time nurse in addition to raising me and my two older brothers, Ken and Jeremy. When I was eight my parents adopted a baby girl. In October of 1988 we welcomed my sister, Caitlin, to the family. I knew from an early age how important and powerful adoption could be.
As a child, I loved doing anything creative. My parents enrolled me in a children’s theatre company when I was 10 years old and it changed my life. I knew at that very moment that performing was my passion. I did theatre throughout high school and eventually earned my degree in acting from UNC-Greensboro. After living in Washington, DC and New York I moved west to Los Angeles to pursue film and television. Now that I have an amazing husband and awesome dog, I feel like my dream of starting a family is possible.
About Joshua, By Jose
My affection for Joshua grows stronger every day. He is caring, thoughtful, and makes me laugh constantly. One of the qualities I admire the most about Joshua is how much he values his family and friends. Joshua is also an excellent caretaker for our dog Ruby. He is extremely organized, making sure that Ruby goes to all her vet and grooming appointments, and keeping track of when she needs to take her medication. We have been talking about wanting to start a family since the beginning of our relationship. He gets so excited when he describes how he imagines parenting to be: teaching our future child to be confident and respectful, and providing encouragement to explore their creativity. Joshua is going to be an amazing Dad.
Meet Jose, By Jose
I was born in the northern part of Spain. When I was 7 years old, my family and I moved to southern California. It was scary at first, having to learn English and adapt to an entirely different culture. One day, I came home and said to my mom: “I didn’t have lunch today because Americans eat donkey meat!” The cafeteria had served burritos that day, and the word “burrito” in Spanish means “little donkey”. With the help of a great teacher and supportive classmates, I learned new things every day. By the end of the school year, I was able to speak English fluently and I had made lots of friends from different nationalities and backgrounds. One of the most important lessons growing up was to embrace my heritage and celebrate the diversity of others. Here’s a fun fact: burritos are now one of my favorite foods! I attended UCLA to study business economics. Today, I work in finance in the media and technology industry for a video streaming company. My goal is to teach our future child that math and numbers can be fun!
About Jose, By Joshua
I’ve never met anyone like Jose in my entire life. He has the uncanny ability to make anyone and everyone feel like they’re the most important person in the room. He has the gift of conversation and when combined with his warm and gentle nature it instantly puts one at ease. At the same time Jose is a kid at heart. He loves all things Disney and enjoys sharing that passion with his niece and nephews. Jose treats his family and friends like gold. I always know he’s there for me and that support means everything. Jose is not only a wonderful husband, but he’s a great friend, an amazing brother, and a loving son. I know he will be an incredible father.
We live in Hollywood, California. Our street is lined with the quintessential California palm trees and is in the heart of the city. We have a modern two-bedroom and two-bathroom home with stunning views of the Hollywood sign and lovely neighbors who we often visit with throughout the week. We have several beautiful parks nearby with fun play areas for kids to explore. We often spend our weekends walking through the local Farmer’s Market, catching a movie down the street, or heading to the beach with friends. In the summertime, we’re able to watch the LA marathon runners from our kitchen window and in the winter, we love stopping by the Hollywood Christmas Parade to kick off the holiday season.
We rescued Ruby from a local shelter when she was only 11 weeks old— she’s four years old now. We love taking her on all sorts of fun adventures, such as hiking in the mountains in the spring and playing in the snow in the winter.
Ruby is very playful and affectionate, and she makes friends with every human and dog she encounters. She loves getting attention, belly rubs, and chasing squirrels. We can’t wait to watch Ruby bond with the newest member of our family and become their best friend and protector.

Our Loved Ones
Our families are so excited for us to have a baby, especially Joshua’s mom, Patti. This would be her first grandchild and she is ready to shower them with all her affection. Joshua’s family lives on the east coast in both Washington, DC and North Carolina, but his parents have pledged to spend as much time in California as needed to help take care of their future grandchild. Joshua plans to be a stay-at-home dad once the baby arrives and can’t wait to set up play dates with friends.
Jose’s parents, Loli and Antonio, and his younger sister, Cristina, live in Spain. They spend most of the year in Madrid, and when the weather gets too hot, they drive up north where they have a beach house in a little town called Noja. It is the perfect place to spend the summer, swimming in the ocean, building sandcastles, and playing soccer. Jose’s older sister, Maria, lives in Texas with her husband and three children, and they can’t wait to welcome a new cousin into the family.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about us. We have prepared our entire lives to be parents and understand that raising a child is the most important thing we will ever do.
