We have been best friends since we were 14. Believe it or not, we didn’t start dating until we were 26! We met in our high school World History class and became instant friends. However, we had wildly different study habits and extracurricular activities--Julie was studious, played soccer, and ran cross country. Seth hated homework and was busy developing his entrepreneurial skills by reselling items on eBay. After attending college on opposite sides of the country and supporting each other through relationships and breakups, we stayed best friends.
In 2009, we finally found ourselves single at the same time, and we decided to start dating. Because we had been best friends for so long, we knew almost immediately we would one day have a family and spend the rest of our lives together. Ten years later, in 2019, we were shocked and ecstatic to welcome our daughter, Evie. We will not be able to have more children biologically and are hopeful that adoption of our second child will help us complete our family.
I am curious and adventurous. My love of science and my dedication to helping others led me to become a doctor and get a degree in public health. Most recently, I am working to improve our healthcare system by developing new technologies like the apps used for COVID-19 diagnosis, treatment, and vaccine development. I work from home and have a flexible schedule that allows me to go on a daily afternoon hike and make time for our family.
Julie has a great smile and a fun sense of humor. She loves to travel, is a yoga fanatic and is a die-hard Chicago Bears fan. Julie is opinionated and stands by what she believes in. She is super smart with an analytical thought process. She is goal-oriented and incredibly efficient. You’ve never seen someone “work smarter not harder” til you see her in action. She comes from a warm and outgoing family with a strong sense of tradition.
I have been a lifelong tinkerer and entrepreneur. From a young age I was interested in technology and the internet. Problem-solving and figuring out the best way to tackle puzzles have always fascinated me. I graduated college with a degree in economics, which led me to a career in finance. I work from home and have a flexible work schedule that allows me to spend time with my family.
Seth is the funniest and most caring person I know. He is an outgoing social butterfly who makes friends quickly with his self-deprecating sense of humor and unique personality. He has a strong sense of his identity, likes/dislikes, and Japanese and Jewish heritage. Seth is tremendously creative and intelligent—I’m always fascinated by his ability to develop new businesses, build computers, and teach himself new skills. He is fiercely loyal and dedicated to his family.
We live in sunny Los Angeles, California where there are limitless outdoor, cultural, and family-friendly activities. We frequently take advantage of our location by going hiking, to the beach, or on a weekend trip to San Diego, Ojai, or Santa Barbara. We stay in close contact with our friends and family in Chicago since they are all eager to visit us in Los Angeles (especially during the cold and windy Chicago winters!) We also have a great group of friends in Los Angeles with kids looking for new playmates.
Our house is in Laurel Canyon, part of the Hollywood Hills. Our neighborhood is known for its creative vibe and sense of community, and we play tennis and swim at our local tennis club several times a week. Your child and Evie will attend one of the best schools in Los Angeles.
We have an adorable English Bulldog named Pearl. She is 8 years old and loves kids (especially the food that they leave behind!)
Evie was born in August 2019, and has filled our home with joy. She has several best friends in the neighborhood, and she loves babies, fire trucks, and swimming.
Both of our families live in the suburbs of Chicago. Which is great since we are able to see them all at the same time when we visit. Both families also have nearby lake houses that become gathering spots for extended family and friends on holidays and weekends.
Julie’s parents are both from the Chicago area originally. Julie has one sister with a 6 year old daughter named Addie and a son, James, who is the same age as Evie. Addie is Julie’s Goddaughter and LOVES babies--she can’t wait to meet her next cousin!
Seth’s parents are both from New York State originally. Seth’s love of computers comes from his dad, and he shares his creativity with his mother and sister. Seth’s sister Emi has a 2 year old named George who is quickly catching up with Evie!
