Hello! We are Kristine, Patrick and Julia from Northern California!
Dear Birth Mother
Thank you for taking the time to read our profile and learn about us. Although we can’t imagine what you are going through, we feel you are very brave to consider adoption for your child and making this decision takes an incredible amount of courage. Your child will grow up knowing that you made this selfless decision out of love, because you care deeply for his or her well-being. It is important that your child knows where he/she came from and we are committed to an ongoing relationship that is comfortable for all of us. We have been blessed with our incredible daughter Julia through adoption and we can’t imagine life without her. We love being parents and are excited for the opportunity to grow our family through adoption again. Thank you for considering us as the adoptive parents of your child.
How We Met and Our Life Today
We met on the Fourth of July in 2008, when we were introduced by mutual friends. There was an instant attraction, but at the time we lived on opposite ends of the country, so we went our separate ways. We never forgot about each other and, almost a year later, we met again. This time we were both living in California. We went on our first date on the Fourth of July in 2009 and we have been together ever since. Patrick’s romantic (down on one knee!) proposal on Valentine’s Day in 2010 was magical, but not quite as magical as our wedding in September of that same year. We were surrounded by friends and family in a beautiful outdoor venue. People commented that they could “feel the love in the air” and were moved by the warmth and intimacy of the celebration. We dreamed of becoming parents and began talking about our desire for children when we were dating. Our hope was to have children soon after we got married. After the first two years of marriage and being unable to conceive, we reflected thoughtfully and carefully. We decided that adoption was the best way for us to grow our family. Our dream came true when we adopted Julia. Being parents is a privilege and a blessing. It has brought us more fulfillment and joy than we imagined was possible. We have a lot of love to give and can’t wait to grow our family through adoption again.
Favorite Things To Do As A Family:
- Play hide & seek
- Go to one of the local playgrounds
- Read stories
- Play musical instruments
I am the luckiest man in the world to be married to Kristine. She is the most genuine person I know, generous of spirit, encouraging and easy to talk to. Kristine is the sweetest mother and so loving to Julia. Kristine makes sure that Julia has a variety of experiences by taking her to Gymboree, pre-school class and swimming lessons. Before bed, Kristine combs Julia’s curly hair, reads her stories and cuddles with her as Julia drifts off to sleep. Kristine has a great sense of right and wrong and the patience to pass life’s lessons along to our child in a loving, nurturing and supportive way. I can’t wait to see Kristine become a mother again!
About Kristine, by Kristine
I grew up in Walnut Creek, California in the suburbs of the San Francisco Bay Area. I had a wonderful childhood. I grew up in a small family with my dad, mom and brother. I had a lot of carefree, fun time to be a kid – which is what I want for my children. I graduated from UC San Diego with a degree in Political Science and a minor in French. I work in business systems development and training for a large insurance company, and my office is 20 minutes away from home. I work 4 days a week with a team that is very supportive of work-life balance and the priority of family. I will take 4 months off from work for baby bonding. For me, what is important is spending time together and creating memories. I take Julia to a farm where she can feed celery and lettuce to cows, goats, and sheep. Or, we go to a local wildlife center where she can see birds and animals that are native to our area.
Things Your Child Will Enjoy Doing With Me:
- Play dates with friends
- Feeding the animals at a nearby farm
- Arts and crafts
- Going to the park
Patrick is a loving and caring husband and I could not ask for a better man to share my life. He is outgoing, kind, generous, loyal and trustworthy. Patrick has a great sense of humor. He loves to have fun and be silly, and he always makes me laugh. I love listening to him sing songs to Julia. He reads books to her while making up voices for the characters and creates fun games for them to play together. Patrick is very hands on and he will definitely be the father who is out playing catch with his son or daughter and helping them practice whatever sport they choose. Patrick’s enthusiasm for life and loving patience make him an amazing father. It will be his greatest joy to become a father again!
About Patrick, by Patrick
I was born in Walnut Creek, California and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area with my parents and my older brother. My grandparents on my mother’s side lived in Belgium, so we would go visit them every other summer and stay for a few weeks. I had a special bond with my grandmother. Julia is named after her. In college I discovered a love for public speaking. I participated on the speech team and really enjoyed the camaraderie and the challenge of competing. I earned a degree in Communications from UC Davis, where I also DJ’d at the radio station and was a commentator for several sports. I translated my college degree into a career in corporate training and development. I design programs that help my colleagues achieve success in their roles. I dedicate evenings and weekends to my family. My biggest hobbies are music, photography and reading. All of these come in handy with Julia. She’ll strum the guitar for me while I sing. Julia loves books as much as I do. We take turns reading to each other. We both look forward to reading books and singing songs to your child!
Things Your Child Will Enjoy Doing With Me:

Our Loving Families
Meet Our Daughter, Julia
Our daughter, Julia, joined our family through adoption, and she is the light of our lives! Julia is spirited, smart, strong, curious, sensitive, funny and gentle. She loves to run, jump and dance. Julia loves playing outside – either on the play structure in our backyard or at our neighborhood park where she can climb, go down the slide and swing. Julia is going to be an awesome big sister and can’t wait to have a little brother or sister to play with!
- FOOD: Macaroni and Cheese
- BOOK (right now): Ducks Away!
- TOY: Leap Frog Picnic Basket
- SONG: If You’re Happy and You Know It (Clap Your Hands)
We were blessed to spend 2 days in the hospital with Julia’s birth parents when she was born. We continue to send pictures and communicate with Julia’s birth mother, but at this point it’s too hard for her to have a relationship with us. We want Julia to be proud of being adopted and know where she came from, so we hope to have an open relationship in the future.
Meet Our Family and Friends
Our families blended together very easily. Since we all live close, we have family dinners to celebrate the holidays and birthdays. We host Thanksgiving, Easter and Christmas every year. Kristine’s parents live 20 minutes away and are excited to become grandparents for the second time. They are retired and care for Julia four days a week. There will be many backyard BBQs and summers spent swimming in the pool at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Patrick’s mom lives just an hour away and she is also excited to be a grandma for the second time. Grandma Claude comes to visit every few weeks and spends the weekend with us. Our future child will have two doting uncles. Patrick’s brother, Greg and Kristine’s brother, Jon, look forward to having another niece or nephew to play games with and have fun at family get-togethers. Kristine is godmother to her cousin’s son, Parker, who lives in Illinois. We look forward to many trips to visit Parker’s family and Kristine’s other relatives who live in both Illinois and California.
Our Home and Closing Thoughts
Where We Call Home
We live in Martinez, a quiet suburban neighborhood 40 miles east of San Francisco, California. Our home is on a court with several other families and a nice sense of community. We are a five-minute walk from the elementary school, which has a great reputation. There are several parks nearby with lots of playground equipment and ball fields. We go to family-friendly events in downtown Martinez, such as the Fourth of July parade, Trunk-or-Treat at Halloween and the Christmas parade. We are centrally located in the Bay Area, so there are lots of great activities within a couple of hours. We can see the animals up close at the Oakland Zoo, or the sea life at Monterey Bay Aquarium. We can take family trips to Lake Tahoe, or BART into San Francisco for a Giants game.
We Thank You!
Thank you for taking the time to learn about us. We would be honored if you considered us in your adoption plan. Growing our family through adoption again is our heart’s desire. We have so much love to share with your child. We will always speak to your child of the love you have for him/her. You gave your child life and you chose to make an adoption plan out of your love for him/her. Even though we haven’t met yet, you are in our thoughts. We wish you comfort and peace as you find your way through this very big decision. We can’t wait to get to know more about you and your dreams for the future.
