We are humbled by your bravery and decision to choose adoption. While you may be feeling anxious and nervous, please know that your selfless decision will allow us to complete our family. We can’t wait to meet you and experience this journey with you.
All our love,
Miguel, Laura & Matthew
Here’s Our Story
We were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend in 2002. We fell in love almost immediately and knew we had both found ‘the one.’ We were engaged in 2003, but waited for Laura to finish school before we married in 2007. We have been happily married for eleven years. After years of trying and failed pregnancies, we were finally blessed with our little miracle, Matthew. We have since struggled with more failed pregnancies and have decided that it is in God’s plan for us to complete our family through adoption. We enjoy many of the same activities and hobbies, while still having our own particular interests which we enjoy exposing to Matthew. Laura enjoys reading, gardening, arts and crafts, scrapbooking, cooking and baking, and photography. Miguel enjoys working on home improvement projects, computers and technology, gardening, sports, and his love for all things Simpson’s, Los Angeles Lakers and Lego. We love traveling and have been many different places throughout the United States and the world. We enjoy experiencing new cultures, environments, lifestyles and food. Providing our family with a wide range of experiences is very important to us. We’ve enjoyed traveling the world and seeing the experience together as a family.
Meet Miguel, written by Laura
Miguel and I met when were both very young, 21 and 19, and it has been such an amazing experience to watch Miguel grow as a man, a husband, and now a father. I didn’t know how much I could love Miguel until I saw him with our son. He is a wonderful husband and father that has provided so much for our family. He has a huge heart and only wants what is best for his family. He strives to make our family better and I am forever grateful for the love, hard work, and time he gives to our family. He is a 911 Communications Supervisor for one of our local police departments. His shift work allows him to attend school functions, sports practices, and other family events, as well as the opportunity to be a stay-at-home dad three to four days a week. Miguel comes from a large family and has always wanted several children. From coaching sports teams to playing dress up and having tea parties, I know Miguel’s drive to be an involved and loving parent will flourish having more than one child to share his heart with. There’s no one else I’d want to go on this journey through life with than with him.
Meet Laura, written by Miguel
From the beginning of us dating I knew Laura would be an amazing mother as she has always had a nurturing and loving demeanor about her. She is easygoing, approachable, understanding and puts everyone else before her needs. While dating, I would go with Laura when she had babysitting jobs and I could see Laura’s parenting style up close way before we even were married. She always took the time to plan outings, cook good meals and ensure the kids were well taken care of. I had fun hanging out with her doing arts and crafts as much as the babysitting kids did! Laura grew up dreaming of being a teacher and fulfilled that goal, and teaches for elementary students with special needs in a local school district. Since having Matthew, she has devoted her time teaching not only her school students but our son as well. In our old house she turned a unused guest bedroom into a playroom with school posters on the wall so our son could start to learn his shapes and numbers. In our current house, she devoted a whole wall to display our son’s school artwork and is looking forward to expanding it for another child’s artwork and setting up another nursery and ultimate play room for the two kids. She is fun, engaging and hard working each and every day. I know she will bring the same commitment to loving and teaching your child.
Welcome to our Neck of the Woods in Oxnard, California
Oxnard became our home in 2007, although Laura has lived here her entire life. We purchased a small starter home not long after getting married. We quickly learned that we had outgrown our first home after Matthew was born. We purchased our forever home, a huge five-bedroom home with a huge park-like backyard in 2015. We are minutes from the beach and many stores and restaurants. Being located in Southern California, we are only a short car trip from many fascinating places and vacation destinations. We enjoy spending time together at the park, the public library, playdates with friends, and local community events.
Our Family & Friends
We have a very large and close group of family and friends that we surround ourselves with on a consistent basis. Laura’s parents and younger sister live just around the corner from us. Matthew is able to spend lots of time with them, including being picked up from school, sleepovers on the weekends, and impromptu quality time. Miguel’s parents live about an hour and a half away and visit several times a month. Our group of friends are our chosen family members. From local playdates and visits, to airplane rides and joint vacations, we include our friends in all of our important family events. We believe it takes a village to raise a child, and we have established a wonderful group of family and friends to help us thrive along the way.
A big brother anxiously waiting!
Our son Matthew was born in 2013. He is such a sweet, kind, polite and respectful little gentleman. He has so much love to give and has been praying for a sibling for several years. He talks about his old nursery as the baby’s room for his future brother and sister. He even has several toys picked out to share with your child. Matthew is going to make such a wonderful big brother! We can not wait to see the bond and relationship between them grow.
Miguel and I have always had dogs growing up. After we got married and bought our first home, we knew we needed a dog. We rescued Homer in 2012. He is a 75 pound lap dog that loves to give kisses and cuddles. He loves to chase balls around the yard, go for long walks, play with all of us.
Our Catholic faith is an instrumental component of our daily live. We attend mass weekly, are involved in our church, Matthew attends a Catholic private school, and we try our best to live our lives through His Word. Your child will be baptized into our faith and grow up in a loving church and will receive a private school education starting in preschool.
