Hello! We are Leslie & Chet, from Valley Glen California!

Thanks for taking the time to get to know us.  Both of us have a deep respect for the courage and strength you’ve already shown in coming this far.  To get to know us better…read on!  Look at the pictures, reach out, ask us questions.  We want you to be just as excited in choosing us as we will be in raising a child!   We hope you enjoy learning about us, our values, and our family.

Here is Our Story:

We first met 21 years ago all because of a search for medical benefits.  Yeah, it sounds funny…but hear us out.  Chet found out that a coffee shop was offering benefits for part time employees and decided to drop off an application – he was hired.  Soon after a new manager, Leslie, was transferred in.   At first, a strong friendship percolated.  It then brewed into a full-bodied, flavorful romance.  It finally blossomed into our marriage which remains rich and robust to this very day. We are truly best friends who compliment each other better than a yin yang symbol.  Chet is boundlessly energetic and creative which serve him well in his career as an actor who also works in commercial production.  Leslie is grounded, thoughtful and passionate which makes her a perfect match as a district manager for the same coffee company where we first met many moons ago.

We both love travel.  Some of our favorite spots so far:  San Francisco, New York, and Paris.  Though travel is fun, we also live by this Seth Goldin quote “Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, you ought to set up a life you don’t need to escape from.”Who is Chet, as told by Leslie:

Chet  was raised by an energetic single mom and is one of two brothers.  He has been shaped into the man he is today by being open, honest and incredibly generous.  Known as “Uncle Coach” to nieces and nephews this is no surprise as he grew up with a passion for sports as well as teaching. I envision Chet as a dad taking his kid to the ballpark and sharing hot dogs and a soda.  I see a ball toss in the back yard followed by a case of the giggles from perhaps a not so perfect pitch. Chet is patient, kind, and also the best cheerleader.  He believes that anything is possible when you follow your dreams.  I am excited to watch Chet blossom into the thoughtful dad I know he will be.Who is Leslie, as told by Chet:

Leslie is quite simply the best person I have ever known.  She has a deep commitment to physical fitness, as well as a keen eye for fashion and design.  She designed our own kitchen and swimming pool herself!  The amazing thing is she does all of this while balancing a full time career, community fundraising, being the centerpiece of her huge family gatherings, and staying connected with a great group of friends. She has a nurturing, adventurous spirit that brings out the best in all those she touches.  Always quick with a supportive smile, she is an incredible listener and an even better adviser. These traits will be awesome in raising our first child.  I can just to see Leslie going on adventures to the zoo, or a trip to a children’s museum, or even a simple ride on the swings at our local park.  I know she will surround our child with love, support, and a great education. It’s All in a Name:

Our family picture would not be complete without mentioning our joyful rescue dog Zuzu.  We got her from the shelter her on Christmas Eve during our annual tradition of watching the movie “It’s A Wonderful Life.”  She’s named after one of the characters!  We all can’t wait to share walks, movie nights, connecting with family and embracing any new experiences that come our way.

Our Home = Family + Friends:

We are extremely lucky to live in the Los Angeles suburb of Valley Glen.  Our neighborhood has a mix of all nationalities, races, and creeds – and we all get along!  Our annual summer block party is the stuff of legends.  Families and kids of all ages get together, eat, dance, play games and just enjoy each others company.  We can’t wait to watch our child running up and down the sidewalk with the rest of the neighborhood kids! We know it takes more than just the two of us to raise our child and our warm, open neighborhood is a big part of that.

On top of our neighborhood, both of us have extended family nearby who can’t wait to be future grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.  Leslie’s folks live a 20 minute drive in one direction and Chet’s relatives are 20 minutes the other way.  With all these people around, almost every weekend has some kind of pool party or bar-b-que happening.  Whether it be a piano recital, soccer match, or school presentation our child will have truckloads of support in anything they do!Family life…what’s important:

Today’s families are created in all sorts of ways.  We know that honesty and love are the foundation upon which any strong family is made.  Having that strong base makes it that much easier to handle any problems life throws our way.  To that end, it is our promise to provide our child a nurturing, open household to grow up in 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Saturday mornings might begin with a dog walk to the park followed by a warm meal of pancakes and most importantly: conversation.  Open communication has been the strength of our relationship and we look forward to passing that on to our child. Additionally, the job flexibility we both have allows us to make any day a Saturday morning of pancakes and conversation whenever necessary.

Excited to Hear From You:

We look forward to welcoming you as a part of our extended family.  Thank you for taking the time to discover our goals, hopes and dreams.  We hope this resonates with you.  We can’t wait to hear from you.
