Hi! We’re Mamie and Sheryl. Thank you for taking the time to read our profile. Together for 16 years, married for 6, and still goofy and young at heart even in our early 40s. Our friends call us “two peas in a pod” because we do almost everything together (even grocery runs!). We share our home with our sweet 9-year-old Yorkie-Shih Tzu mix, Freddie, and we are both animal lovers —especially Sheryl, who has a soft spot for chubby cats! We are truly excited to grow our family through adoption. Our hope is to raise a kind, curious, and confident person who knows how deeply they are loved—by us and by you.

Adoption has always felt like the right path for us. We’ve dreamed of becoming parents since our 30s, but we made the decision to wait until we felt truly ready—emotionally, financially, and professionally. We wanted to make sure we could offer a child a safe, loving, and stable home, filled with support and opportunity. We’re excited to be on this journey and are waiting with joyful anticipation and holding space in our hearts for the child meant for us.

I’m originally from China and grew up in a close-knit family with my parents and grandparents in Los Angeles. They were calm, steady people who always saw the best in me and gave me the space to be myself. My childhood was full of drawing, playing music, and traveling together as a family. That encouragement and freedom to explore helped shape who I am today and led me to a career in the creative arts. These days, I try to live a creative and balanced life, filled with stories, art, time outdoors, and being present for the little moments that make each day meaningful. I love trying new things and taking on challenges—I see life as one big adventure. Becoming a parent has been a longtime dream, and I’d be honored to share that sense of curiosity and joy with a child, and to help them grow into someone who is confident, resilient, and ready to face whatever life brings, all while staying true to themselves.

Mamie is truly one of a kind—she’s smart, generous, loving, and strong, who cares deeply for the people in her life. She’s the kind of person who shows up with a full heart and helping hands, whether it’s cooking my favorite noodles whenever I get the cravings, taking care of her parents, or cat sitting for a friend. It’s in these small, everyday moments that her big heart shines through. She’s also thoughtful and determined, always thinking things through and putting her whole heart into everything she does. And I know, with all of her love, patience, and strength—that any child will be loved, nurtured, and supported by her every step of the way.

I was born in the Philippines and raised by my loving grandma. Because of her, I’ve always had a soft spot for grandmas—and a deep appreciation for the simple, meaningful moments in life. I grew up in a big, fun-loving family full of cousins, aunties, and uncles who were always joking around—so I learned to keep up with a big sense of humor. Music, especially love songs, has always been part of my life, thanks to karaoke which is a treasured part of the Filipino culture. I enjoy going for walks and hikes, but I’m just as happy staying in and enjoying the quiet comforts of home. I feel incredibly grateful for what life has given me—love, laughter, and meaningful experiences. I’m excited to be a parent and experience life with a child.

One of the many things I admire about Sheryl is her calm and steady nature. She’s thoughtful, grounded, and someone who approaches life with quiet strength and care. I know she will be a nurturing and loving parent, the kind of person a child can turn to in moments of joy or challenge, and always feel safe. Sheryl is incredibly loyal and puts family first. She’s also deeply dependable—someone I trust completely, who naturally steps in and keeps things steady, no matter what’s going on. Her loving presence is what makes our house feel like home. She’s the one who gets up first in the morning and gently sets the day in motion: opening the blinds, starting the coffee, setting the rhythm of our home. It’s a small thing, but it carries so much warmth. That kind of care is something I’ve come to treasure, and I know a child will feel that same sense of comfort and belonging in her care.

We live in a beautiful, tree-lined neighborhood in Pasadena, California—a quiet and family friendly atmosphere. Our apartment is just across the street from a private junior school, so we often see kids walking to class with their families dropping them off. In the spring, the air smells lovely from the Camphor trees, making walks especially enjoyable. It’s a neighborhood where you often see neighbors out on walks or tending to their gardens. We’re within walking distance of retail shops, a public library, and a neighborhood park. We’re also close to some of Los Angeles’ most iconic places, like the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the historic Rose Bowl, and the beautiful Huntington Library Botanical Gardens. We love our community because it’s truly a safe, welcoming, and warm place for raising a family.

Our 9-year-old Yorkie-shih-tzu mix. Freddie is an absolute charmer. He has a gentle, playful personality, and the cutest face, so he wins over everyone he meets. His favorite treats are blueberries and boiled eggs. We are very lucky to have him.

Our family and friends mean the world to us. We both grew up surrounded by lots of cousins, aunties, uncles, and lifelong friends, so every get-together is full of laughter, gossips, delicious food—and of course, karaoke! When we visit our niece and nephews, we always end up on the floor playing boardgames, sharing snacks, and chatting about everything from school projects to video games. We also enjoy spending time with our friends, whether we’re hosting dinners at home or catching up over coffee or lunch. These moments with our loved ones bring us so much joy, and we look forward to sharing that love and connection with a child.

We don’t belong to any religion, but we have spiritual beliefs based on kindness, compassion, and respect for all living things. We believe in treating others with empathy and understanding, and in finding meaning through our connections with people and nature. We try to move through life with an open heart and a deep appreciation for the beauty and diversity around us. These are the values that guide us every day, and the ones we hope to pass on to a child.

Over the years, as our lives have grown more stable, the thoughts of becoming parents fill us with so much joy and excitement. We’re ready to give our love, to nurture, guide, protect, and grow alongside the child the universe brings into our lives. We think often about the small, meaningful moments—reading bedtime stories, exploring nature, sharing jokes, and creating memories that will become part of their story. We hope to raise a child who is kind, curious, respectful, and resilient—someone who feels deeply loved and supported as they navigate the ups and downs in life.
