We are Mark and Reza from Los Angeles, California! THANK YOU for taking the time to consider us as your child’s adoptive parents. Adoption will allow us to complete our family and provide your child with the love, support, and opportunity that he or she will need to have a happy and fulfilling life. We feel blessed to have a happy home and loving family and friends. We hope you find in us the type of loving and supportive home you would want for your child.
WE MET AT MARK’S NEIGHBORHOOD STARBUCKS in Boston during Reza’s first week of surgery residency. Reza had just moved from Los Angeles and was reading a textbook on a break from the hospital. Mark caught his eye and we struck up a conversation. We felt instant chemistry and began dating. Two years later, Mark was promoted at work and moved to Los Angeles. Knowing we were meant for each other, we embarked on a long-distance relationship for 5 years and took turns flying across the country to see each other every 2-3 weeks! Sometimes we would meet in different cities for the weekend. Once the weekend ended, the “countdown” would begin until when we would see each other again.
When Reza’s surgical training ended, we finally got married and bought our dream house in Studio City, CA, an idyllic neighborhood only an hour away from Reza’s family. We love to eat out and take walks with our 6-year-old Beagle, Mr. Magoo. Fortunately, we have a lot of great restaurants in the neighborhood that are dog friendly and a wonderful park within walking distance from our house, which is rare in Los Angeles.
At home, we enjoy binge watching many different TV shows and some of our favorites are House of Cards, The Handmaid’s Tale, and American Gods. Reza prefers zombies and alien/UFO shows while Mark prefers dramas and reality TV. Regardless, we will watch the other’s favorite just to spend time together.

I was born in Iran, but moved to Los Angeles with my family at 5 years old. As an immigrant, I experienced the traumatic effects of poverty and this made me determined to work hard to be as successful as I could. That part aside, my childhood was a relatively happy one: full of friends, activities, video games, and most importantly, loving parents. I enjoyed playing at the park, marching in the school’s band (as a drummer), working on the school’s newspaper, and I developed a love for science and technology. I attended UCLA and began the journey to become a trauma surgeon.
I’m still a big science fiction geek and during my free time, I watch documentaries on UFOs and read books about science and space. I’ve always dreamed of one day taking my future child to NASA’s Space Camp. I also love music. I still attend at least 5 concerts a year and pretty much always have music playing in the background. Your child is guaranteed to learn to dance at a very young age!
What I Do For Work
Although my job can be very demanding, I have learned how to obtain a balance. About three days a month, I work in the hospital overnight doing a 24 hour shift, but the benefit of that is that the next day I’m completely off to catch up on sleep, spend the day with family, and get things done around the house. I am currently in the process of adjusting my practice to be home by early afternoon most days.
About Reza, by Mark
Reza is a kind and free spirit who has a passion for life. He became a doctor for the sole reason of helping others. He is smart, hardworking, gentle, and has a smile that lights up a room. He balances me and gives me perspective. He always sees the best in everyone and in every situation. Reza will be a great father and make our future child’s well-being a priority. He will do everything possible to see that they are well-educated, informed, and compassionate.
I was raised in Medford and Lexington, MA, both suburbs of Boston. My childhood was fairly “normal”. We lived in a safe, upper middle-class neighborhood with lots of young families. Growing up as the middle triplet, it was always nice to have my siblings at my side, especially when we moved from Medford to Lexington in the 6th grade. My time at Lafayette College (in Pennsylvania) was invaluable in shaping me to be who I am today. It was the first time that I was away from my brother and sister, which allowed for me to make my own friends. Being “in the closet” in the early 1990’s was hard but did not hamper my college experience. My best friends to this day are my friends from Lafayette.
About Mark, by Reza
They say opposites attract and Mark and I are the textbook example. I’m frequently relaxed and late to things. Mark on the other hand, is the most dependable person you will meet in your life. I often reflect on how lucky I am to have met the greatest man in the world. He would do anything for someone he loves. He even donated a kidney to a friend! Mark has impeccable taste and I trust his judgement more than anyone’s. As a father, I think he will serve as an amazing role model. I think he will be the most dependable force in our future child’s life.
What I Do For Work
Today, I work for a large wealth management firm. I work as a branch manager in Southern California and have been there since graduating from college. I have a wonderful career and feel very fortunate to do what I do. My schedule is fairly routine. I’m usually home by 4pm during the week and do not work weekends. I’m a pretty simple guy and enjoy spending time with Reza and our dog, Mr. Magoo. I look forward to raising a child with Reza and experiencing the world through a child’s eyes.
Our Family and Friends
Reza’s family all lives within an hour drive from us in suburban Los Angeles. Reza is the eldest child and has 3 siblings; Ramin, a lawyer who lives in Santa Monica and twins Amir and Neda. Amir is in law school and helps out with Ramin’s practice and Neda is studying to be a pharmacist. They are all very excited to have their first niece/nephew. Reza’s mom is a hairstylist who loves cooking for the family and singing to babies and pets. His dad is a soft-spoken retired engineer. They’ve always dreamed of having grandchildren and couldn’t be more excited. We see them often and also gather for all major Persian and American holidays.
Mark is a triplet and has a brother Gregg, and sister Caryn, who live in the Boston area. Gregg is married to Alyssa and has two high school aged sons, Matthew and Kevin. His parents are retired and live in Downtown Boston. They have been very involved grandparents and have enjoyed spoiling the boys. Mark’s family visits us in LA a few times a year, especially in the winter months, and we make sure to go to Boston at least once a year to see them.
We both have a wonderful group of close friends, many of whom we’ve known since college. Mark’s friend Pauline lives just a few blocks away and is very excited about being an “Auntie” to our future child. His closest friends are his old college buddies who make a point to see each other at least twice a year. He is also a Godparent to one of his best friend’s daughter. With so many friends with children of their own living close by, a regular play date will be a guarantee.
Our Home and Community
We live in the heart of the entertainment industry in Los Angeles, California and our neighborhood is very diverse. On any given morning you’ll see many of our neighbors walking their dogs with their children. Everyone is friendly. Two years ago we bought a brand new 4100-square-foot Spanish style home with an open floor plan. It has five bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, which is great when Mark’s family and friends visits from the East Coast. There’s plenty of space for a “little one” to enjoy. Despite being a large house, it feels very cozy and relaxed. It also has a great swimming pool and jacuzzi in the back yard for the hot summers.
We can’t wait to enjoy all the fun things Los Angeles has to offer with our child! Disneyland and Universal Studios are only a short drive away. The ocean is nearby, as are mountains for hiking, lakes for fishing, and slopes for skiing. We look forward to many camping trips and fishing trips. The summers are going to be full of beach days and fun outings. We feel lucky to enjoy near perfect weather year round!
Our beagle, Mr. Magoo, is the cutest, most adorable dog you’ll ever meet. We rescued him when he was 18 months old. We went to a pet adoption fair and he was the first dog we saw. Mark instantly connected with him. Magoo is very kind and gentle and loves children. He likes to eat, sleep, and cuddle in bed. He brings us such joy and has been an integral member of our family for the past 5 years. He can’t wait to be a “big brother!”
Thank You for taking the time to get to know us. We know this is not an easy decision for you to make, but we want to make sure you know how much love, care, and joy we will provide your child. Thank you for making our dream of parenthood a reality.
