Hello! We are Miatta, Anthony, and Brielle from Southern California! We are so happy that you’re reading our profile and we’re excited that you may choose us as adoptive parents to raise your beautiful baby. We adopted our daughter Brielle in 2013. Building our family through adoption has been an exciting and rewarding experience, and we can’t wait for that journey to continue. We are unable to have children of our own, but we have endless love to share. We know the decision and experience for you is a difficult one. Having stepped through the process and beyond once before, we can say that we have a better understanding of what you are going through. We commend you for choosing to give your child life and we understand your desire to give them a wonderful life. It truly is a remarkable and selfless act of love.  Brielle is ready to be a big sister!

  • My grandparents had ten kids! So I grew up with 23 cousins!
  • I spent a summer in college studying in Moscow, Russia.
  • I can name all the US Presidents in order in under a minute!
  • I’ve had poetry published in my local newspaper.
  • I’ve visited 24 countries.

  • My father was a stylist for Vogue magazine.
  • I designed the set of Spider-Man II.
  • I played basketball in high school.
  • My distant cousin is former NFL quarterback Joe Montana.
  • I’ve been to the Arctic Circle.

It may be hard to believe, but we’ve been married for 18 years! We met in Atlanta after Miatta graduated from college and moved to the big city to work for a magazine. Anthony was working as a structural engineer. From the moment we met, we knew that we would be each other’s partner-in-crime!  Now, Miatta is a stay-at-home mom. Anthony works as a structural engineer. Four years ago our family grew with the addition of our beautiful daughter Brielle. We’re all really lucky to have a great support system of family and friends who have expressed nothing but love and joy as we continue on our adoption journey.

  • An education is key and college is non-negotiable.
  • A child should learn about God when s/he is young and can decide what s/he chooses to believe when s/he is older.
  • Rainy days are made for baking cookies.
  • It’s our responsibility to mold our children to become good human beings.
  • Only through charity can you really appreciate the blessings that you have at home.
  • Traveling will open a child’s mind.
  • If you ask to start karate lessons, you have to stick with it until the end.
  • Our arms are always open when our children need a place to lay their heads.
  • Sundays are declared national pancake breakfast day!
  • Hugs and kisses should be unlimited.
  • Promises must be kept.
  • Birth mothers must always be remembered and thanked for bringing our family together!

MEET MIATTA, by Miatta

I was born in Brooklyn, NY to a Liberian father and Haitian mother. My parents separated when I was a year old. While they were sorting things out, I spent a few years in Haiti living with my great aunt Grace, which is where I learned to speak the native language…Creole. I then spent four years living in Montreal, Canada with my aunt and my two younger cousins. I went to a French school where I learned my #1 party trick…speaking fluent French! Montreal is beautiful and I’d recommend that you visit it one day…but not in winter…never in winter!  When I was nine, I moved back to New York to live with my mother. It wasn’t until then that I finally learned to speak English.  We moved to Florida when I was 13 and my little brother was born. I absolutely adore him. I went to college at the University of Florida where I received a full scholarship….so being a nerd paid off! After graduating, I landed a job at a magazine in Atlanta (another great city to visit). A few months later, I met Anthony and the rest is history!

Miatta is the most inspirational, creative, and caring individual I know and from the moment we met I have been hooked on her humor. Miatta’s spirit is young and strong and we joke that she will be the dancing grandma well into her 90’s! Although you’d be hard-pressed to get Miatta to pass up a hike on a sunny day, she’s just as comfortable snuggling up with a movie and hot chocolate. I’m so excited to see her continue to redirect that energy into her role as a mother…what lucky children!  My life has been so enriched by my wife and I love her for it. I know our children will feel the same and I am so excited to see her become a mother again.

MEET ANTHONY, by Anthony

I was born in Miami, FL to Italian parents and I am a first-generation American. I am the eldest of three children – one brother and one sister. I spent half of my childhood in south Florida and the other half in North Carolina. I grew up with two very loving parents (who have been married for 51 years), grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins. I excelled in academics, participating in high school math competitions and science fairs.    Playing high school basketball and running track helped to balance the brains and brawn.  I served in the U.S. Air Force after which I completed my degree in civil engineering. I have been a practicing engineer for over 20 years, love my career, and have designed structures for major motion pictures, the Arctic Circle, and everywhere in between.   I love to travel and have been fortunate enough to visit 21 countries. My travels, my marriage, and adopting Brielle have all helped to enrich my life by providing broad cultural experiences and understanding. I am at the perfect point in life to provide my children with the love, guidance, and experience that have so generously been given to me over the years.

Anthony is an amazing dad! He’s patient, smart and loving. He loves to teach and is going to be great at helping out with homework. He takes parenting very seriously. We used to talk for hours about everything we would do to raise our future children well. He definitely wants to get it right. Anthony is also one of the most reliable people I know and that means a lot. But his claim to fame is that he’s the best hugger in all of California, hands down! I can’t wait for Anthony to become a father again as we pursue adoption to become a family of four!

Our lives changed forever four years ago when our beautiful daughter Brielle was born. Nothing could have prepared us for being in the delivery room and watching Brielle come into the world. It was a privilege that her birth mother afforded us and one we will cherish forever. We were very fortunate to have been chosen quickly. We know our story is not typical. We feel so lucky her birth mother chose us to share our lives and love with this little angel. She has been a blessing beyond anything we could ever have imagined or hoped for!  Brielle adores babies and can’t wait to become a big sister. She’s an affectionate little girl who loves books, drawing, going to the park, collecting rocks and dancing. She’s going to be an amazing big sister.

Our home is located in a beautiful neighborhood in Pasadena California.  When we were first married we used to daydream about one day living in a pretty house on a tree-lined street. And now that we’re here, we pinch ourselves every day! The schools here are great.  We spend our weekends at the Botanical Gardens to the park and kids museum. We’re only a short drive away from Los Angeles. So we get the best of the big city and the suburbs.

We have a large extended family that includes a rainbow of races and nationalities. We have Haitians, Jamaicans, Italians, irish, Mexicans and Russians! Between the two of us we have over 30 cousins. Although most of them are on the east coast, we fly back each year for the holidays and special occasions (like Miatta’s grandmother’s 90th birthday). We also have at least a few family members who come out to visit us each year.

  • Spontaneous dance parties.
  • Go to museums.
  • Watch animated movies.
  • Go for walks.
  • Have tea parties.

Thank you for taking the time to consider us as your child’s adoptive parents. We know that you have so many amazing people to choose from. Whoever you choose, just know that you are making such a wonderful decision. And on behalf of all of us, thank you for allowing us the privilege of raising your beautiful baby.
