Hello - my name is Neema from Boston currently stationed in New Mexico! It is truly a pleasure to meet you and to connect in this special way. I look forward to getting to know you, and to being part of your child’s journey to a happy childhood and a fulfilling life. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and thank you for considering me as a possible parent to your child.

I have always loved children. In fact, I take care of children as part of my work. I love my work helping children in rural communities, and I have dedicated most of my time and energy to it. I have now come to a point where I have more balance in my life, and I would cherish the opportunity to be a parent at this stage in my life.

The most important things in my life are friends and family, working to help children, and discovering new places and cultures. I have lived and worked in the US, Geneva Switzerland, and in multiple countries in Africa including Kenya, Liberia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Central African Republic. I have also lived and worked in Haiti.

I speak French, Swahili, Luo, and German; and I have a basic knowledge of Spanish.

In my free time I enjoy hiking, listening to music, reading books, and spending time with my siblings, parents, nieces, and friends.

I am excited about providing support and life skills to a child. With my support and guidance, my greatest hope is that they will grow up to be happy and fulfilled adults. I look forward to supporting their growth, helping them discover their talents, and guiding them through life’s challenges. I will do everything in my power to protect them and provide them with the security they need to fulfill their potential.

I look forward to including my child in my travels, outdoor activities (hiking and skiing), and arts (music and museums). I also look forward to reading to them and passing on my love for books.

I am a humanitarian surgeon and public health specialist. I have spent most of my adult life caring for children in rural communities and children affected by conflict. It has been such a privilege to be part of their journey to healing.

Where I am currently stationed in New Mexico is known for its amazing weather, outdoor sceneries, and activities. There are hiking trails, outdoor concerts, and the Santa Fe Opera in the summer. Where I am currently stationed has beautiful open space scenery with rabbits that occasionally cross our paths. There is a tennis court and a playground. The neighborhood is safe, and we all look out for each other. I love to garden and I always have herbs and cherry tomatoes growing wherever I am.

My mum was a wonderful mum to me and my 3 siblings when we were growing up. She will be living with me during the first 3 months of my journey, and she cannot wait to meet her next grandchild! I will also have a nanny to help me, when I need to care for other children who are sick. I live a few minutes walk from my workplace - and I plan to be home during lunch breaks. In case of any emergency, I can be home in minutes. I will have a whole village around me - my siblings and friends will be here to support me. My neighborhood has multiple families with young children who will make wonderful playmates and friends.

I am very close to my family & friends. All of my friends and family are supportive of my decision to adopt - and they will be there for me as I raise them. One huge blessing of the pandemic was that my siblings and I were locked down at our parents’ house. It was a wonderful time of getting to know each other again and spending time together. We grew closer during this time, and we even worked on joint projects together. My nieces and I have a very special relationship and I always make an extra effort to visit with them. I also enjoy seeing their love for reading grow! I have a diverse group of friends from different ethnic groups and countries.

My dad’s only brother was his adopted older brother. My family have all promised to be there for me as I embark on this new journey of parenthood. I am so lucky that my future child will have my dad, mum, and siblings as additional positive role models in their life. I will provide them with educational and enrichment opportunities. They will have the opportunity to learn multiple languages and to visit multiple countries in different continents. They will also have the opportunity to learn about cultures in Europe and Africa. With the ability to speak multiple languages, in the future, they will be able to live and work in multiple countries in different continents.

I hope to share the importance of commitment and dedication. I hope to support them so that they can fulfill their potential and have the courage to make choices that are best for them and their wellbeing.
