Hello! We are Nicole and Mike from San Diego, California.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We are so grateful to you for considering adoption and excited about being given an opportunity to expand our family. We admire your strength and courage to consider such a selfless act for your child. We are eager to share a little about ourselves and our ability to provide your baby with a secure, happy, loving and supportive home.

About Us, Our Story

We met on Valentine’s Day 2005, which was also Nicole’s first day of work in San Diego. Mike was working as a Civil Engineer and Nicole had just started as the Office Manager. Mike had a huge bouquet of flowers on his desk, Nicole assumed they were for a girlfriend, but before he left work that day Mike informed her that the flowers were for his mom, Shirley. A few months later Mike left and started his own Engineering firm and asked Nicole out on a date. After four years of dating we got engaged but decided to not tell any of our friends. Instead we told our friends to meet us at the boat harbor in San Diego on Valentine’s Day 2009, they thought it was because we were announcing our engagement. In actuality, we had secretly planned a small wedding. Together with our family and close friends we were married at sunset onboard a boat off the coast of Point Loma.

Fun Facts About Us:

  • We spend every Sunday afternoon at the beach surfing and playing in the sand
  • We take several family vacations a year. Exploring Washington, DC and spending New Year’s Eve in Times Square are some of our recent favorite trips
  • We are both active in our local church and weekly Bible studies
  • Our favorite holiday is Fourth of July, we love to BBQ and watch fireworks from our backyard
  • We both grew up playing the piano, but Mike is definitely the more talented musician
  • Nicole’s most memorable trip was snorkeling in Israel; and Mike’s was snowboarding in Canada

Meet Mike

About Mike, by Mike: I grew up as an only child in a Navy family. My father was a Chief Petty Officer and my mother was a registered nurse. I was born in South Carolina, but because of the Navy, moved on to Morocco, New Orleans and finally to San Diego, California. My childhood was certainly special. Whether it was band practice, sports, martial arts, piano, or academics, my parents were always there to support me and always managed to provide an avenue for me to pursue whatever venture my interests would take me. After high school I attended UC Santa Barbara and graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. I am a senior design engineer for a geotechnical construction company. Finding balance between work and family is important to me. I am fortunate enough to have a career that provides enough flexibility to facilitate a healthy work-life balance. My favorite job is being a dad and I love watching our 4-year old daughter grow. Family time is important to me, and we frequent Sea World, the San Diego Zoo and local museums. The beach is our favorite family destination. I cannot wait to take our future child along!

More About Mike, by Nicole: I fell in love with Mike’s thoughtfulness and unconditional love for his family. He is the best friend anyone could ever ask for. He is thoughtful and kind, funny and smart, and always reliable. He works so hard to provide a safe and comfortable life for our daughter and myself. Mike is the best husband and father I could ever ask for and I can’t imagine a day without him.

Fun Facts:

  • Enlisted in the US Marine Corps as a reservist and served during college
  • Enjoys surfing, snowboarding, golfing, and swimming
  • Big Dallas Cowboy Fan
  • Still waiting for a San Diego Padres Championship

Meet Nicole

Nicole, by Nicole: I was born and raised in Alaska. My dad owns a construction company and my mom works for an oil company. I am the oldest of three girls, both of my sisters and their families now live in California and we see each other very often. Growing up in Alaska was amazing. My sisters and I are very close and grew up in a small town. Twenty five of the people I graduated with had been in the same class with me since Kindergarten. I am still very close with my High School friends and travel to Alaska every year to see my parents. I left Alaska to attend college in Los Angeles and graduated with a BS in Business Management. After graduation I moved to San Diego and spent 9 years working for a large construction company and always thought I would return to work after starting a family. However, once our daughter was born I realized that my only desire was to make sure that she is cared for and given every opportunity to grow and learn, so I quit my job and became a full time Mom. I love having more time to focus on our family and take our daughter to music, yoga, horseback riding, and swimming lessons. Mike and I have a strong desire to make sure our children do well in school and have every opportunity to attend college. Even though Micaiah is only 4, I make sure that we are learning new things every day. I am so fortunate for the time spent with my daughter and cannot wait to do the same with our future child.

About Nicole, by Mike: I am always amazed by Nicole’s thoughtfulness and consideration for others. She has a unique sense of humor and is sensitive. It makes me laugh when she tears up at the most unexpected times in a movie. I love her passion for cooking and her attention to detail when hosting a dinner party. As a mother she is completely dedicated to our daughter’s enrichment and has selflessly taken on the position as a full-time homemaker.

Fun Facts About Nicole:

  • Enjoy making mosaic designs to give as gifts or place in our garden
  • Loves gardening, but hates bugs…
  • Traveled to Thailand in college to teach English to young children
  • Loves fishing and camping and misses summertime in Alaska

Our Loving Families

Our Daughter, Micaiah: In 2014 we were blessed by the birth of our daughter, Micaiah. She has changed our lives forever and we are fortunate to be her parents. Micaiah attends preschool a few minutes from our home and loves all of the art projects she gets to work on with her classmates. She is compassionate, silly, and always looking for an adventure. She attended a preschool nature class last spring and quickly became the leader of the pack, leading all of the children off to find pinecones and sticks. She is so excited to grow our family through adoption and we know that she will be the best big sister!

Fun Facts:

  • Has attended music class since she was 6 months old, loves instruments
  • Loves to help cook and wants to be a chef when she grows up
  • Has a swing set and plays on it every day
  • Loves vanilla ice cream with lots of sprinkles

Our Loving Families: Family is extremely important to both of us. Mike is an only child and his father passed away a few years ago. His mom lives 25 minutes away and comes over often. Nicole’s parents live in Alaska, but come to visit 2-3 times a year. Both of her sisters live in Los Angeles and are married. One of her sisters has a 2-year old daughter, Avery. We see Nicole’s sisters once or twice a month and spend most holidays together. We have been very fortunate to travel with our families and have taken family trips to both Hawaii and New York. Our Home and Closing Thoughts

Our Home: We live in a small town in San Diego county. Our home is located in a private gated community with playgrounds, lakes, tennis courts, and hiking trails. We are only 30 minutes from the city and beach, yet far enough to own over 2 acres of land in a quiet, family centered community. We are fortunate to live in an amazing school district, but plan on sending our children to a private school for their education. The small town we live in is a wonderful place to raise a family.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for considering us as adoptive parents to your child. We hope our photos and words have given you some insight into our personalities, lifestyle, values, and goals as parents. As you take time to make your decision please know that we are here for you and your child each step of the way.
