We want you to know that your baby has been a priority in our family from the very beginning when Trevor proposed marriage & adoption. Because of fertility issues, we have always known we would make a family through adoption. Both our extended families have adopted members & we met at a children’s museum working with children born to others, so it’s a natural fit for us.

As former co-teachers, we’re thrilled about becoming parents. Your child would be the 1st grandchild in a close-knit family of teachers & singers who are beyond excited to welcome a new family member. We promise whenever we celebrate this child’s accomplishments, we will remind them their original strength comes from you.

Paisley first met Trevor at Pretend City Children’s Museum on Halloween in 2011. She was dressed as Rainbow Brite, running the art studio. He worked his first day as a farmer, bringing fruit for drawing class. Trevor captured Paisley’s heart by sculpting a flux capacitor time machine with a girl scout troop for her “Back 2 the Future” museum mural. As co-workers, we painted with thousands of kids, but Paisley was very professional and we didn’t kiss until Trev’s Pretend City retirement party.

We enjoy movies, collecting animation cell art and dog sitting together. Paisley is a painter/ceramicist and Trevor is a graphic artist, so we love making art for our home together. We’re so in synch, we once sculpted each other the exact same ‘surprise’ gift and couldn’t stop laughing. We are both close to our parents and enjoy dinner or an backyard outdoor movie together monthly. We dated for several years and enjoyed many movie-set art shows & Hollywood Bowl concerts before marrying in 2019 surrounded by family & friends in our backyard.

As a diplomat’s daughter growing up in international schools, I thought learning about different cultures was the purpose of life. And honestly, as a UCLA Arts grad and an international art & architecture teacher, I kind of still do! Even teaching in the United States, I’ve loved creating art with Nicaraguan church school children, Haitian farm community preschoolers & kids in Snoop Dogg’s entourage. But my favorite is still when families share their home culture’s clothing or food with our class.

As an early childhood teacher, I’ve helped children learn to speak & read so I can’t wait to experience those life stages with our future child! I’ve shifted into contract teaching, giving me flexibility to be at home for those precious early childhood years. I’m excited to explore frozen popsicle paint with our future toddler and to learn the letter “O” from Beyonce’s “Single Babies” ringtoss.

I love Paisley’s creativity! At the children’s museum, I loved seeing her get kids excited about projects like glow-in-the-dark jellyfish sculptures. She’ll be a magical Mom who turns homework assignments into fascinating adventures.

I sang and danced my way through childhood with my musical theater star mom in San Diego. We have the same laugh and she still leaves me voicemails in the Grover voice from Sesame Street. Most years my California cousins met up for fun stuff like Knotts’ Berry Farm & baseball games. At San Francisco State, I majored in graphic design & my housemates became lifelong friends who introduced me to international foods and music. After graduation, I traveled throughout Europe & the Middle East & on to New Zealand, working as an international camp counselor in Croatia & teaching film & set design to kids from different countries. Some of them still stay in touch and visit.

Now, running my own graphic design business, I have a flexible schedule that will allow me to coach kids’ basketball again or see our future child’s school concert. In my free time, I repair vintage Nintendo games & bike with friends. I’m looking forward to playing with our future child at our local “Atlantis”- themed toddler water park & building Lego robots when they’re older.

I love Trevor’s imagination! He has this super fun, relaxed attitude that inspired kids to create their best art at the children’s museum. While making our New York City mural, Trevor worked with a T-ball team to create a huge, hairy King Kong atop the Chrysler building fighting off toy helicopters with a giant creamsicle!

We live in a quiet suburb between two of Southern California’s best loved theme parks — Disneyland & Knotts’ Berry Farm — plus a 30 min drive connects us to the beach or Los Angeles arts events! Our house sits on a quiet cul-de-sac where kids can safely bike in the street and attend excellent public schools. We’ve grown close to several families with children on evening walks through our friendly, diverse community of East Asian, Latino, Pacific Islander, Black, South Asian and Persian neighbors, who generously give us plants for our blooming backyard. Indoors, our friends’ kids love Trevor’s Nintendo gaming room and Paisley’s art teacher studio full of paints, Montessori games, clay, and finger puppets. We’ve got orange, grapefruit, pomegranate and lemon trees in our yard so if our future kiddo is into lemonade stands, we’re set!

Our home is so inviting, a neighborhood cat insisted on moving in! Nandor loves cuddling, playing ball and jumping with crickets. She always joins our nightly walks and neighborhood children love to walk along and pet her.

All our parents live nearby and can’t wait to celebrate Christmas with their 1st grandchild! We alternate hosting Thanksgiving and Paisley’s family rings in the Lunar New Year in Chinatown with lion dance & gyoza that remind them of their Taiwan years.

Trevor’s cousin Elise & husband Ramon, who visit each year when his large family vacations at Disney, just had a baby. We’re excited for our kids to Disney together and to spend some cousin Christmases in Idaho enjoying snow & family tamale-making traditions.

We celebrate lots of traditions. Some of Trevor’s cousins are Jewish so we like cooking latkes & playing dreidel each Hannukah with friends. Since Paisley grew up in Okinawa with summers in Hawaii, we love the chance to celebrate Asian Pacific Islander heritage in Hawaii with our Kupuna (elders), enjoying Okinawan Soba & sanshin music. We also celebrate Dia de Los Muertos by remembering our dearly departed’s favorite foods on our ofrenda & painting sugar skulls. Paisley’s midwest cousins & aunts/uncles meet up most years in Idaho or California to explore nature & hike together.

As you can probably tell, we want to offer your child lots of diverse cultural experiences like Paisley enjoyed growing up overseas. We will make it a priority for your child to feel connected with their birth culture and surrounded by an international circle full of diverse aunts, uncles & friends.
