Hi! We are Jhonatan & Sandra from Inglewood, California. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to get to know us!

We pray for peace and love to overflow in your life and for the health and happiness of your child. We want nothing more than the opportunity to love a child deeply and guide them through every stage and challenge in life. During the 17 years we have been together, we've dreamed about being parents, and now that we are here, being considered to adopt your child, we are over the moon excited to finally live our dream.

We were both raised by our non-biological parents: Jhonatan was raised by his maternal grandparents, and Sandra was adopted at one year old. Jhonatan’s love for his grandparents grew with every folk-tale story his grandma told him as they snuggled and with every scoop-up bear hug his grandpa gave him when he took him freshly-cooked corn tortillas tightly wrapped with refried beans and cheese. Sandra’s love for her adoptive parents grew with every spur-of-the-moment fun adventure her adoptive mom created and with every new receipt she and her adoptive dad endeavored. Since childhood, we’ve known what true unconditional love feels like. So the day we received the news about our infertility, God reassured us adoption was always our destined journey to grow our family.

Only knowing we had a mutual friend in common, we spoke on the phone for three long hours. Sandra told her mom, “I don’t know why I’m saying this, but this is the guy I’m going to marry.”

Seventeen years later, we haven’t spent a minute apart. Sandra was 14 years old, Jhonatan was 16 when we started dating (Yup, that makes us high school sweethearts!), and we just celebrated 11 years of marriage. We are truly blessed to do - life - with our best friend. We are each other’s biggest supporters and confidants, making it easy to rely on, trust, and communicate with. It’s Jhonatan’s generosity and humbleness that Sandra cherishes and Sandra’s softhearted affection and joyful nature that Jhonatan treasures. We laugh at each other’s quirkiness, enjoy traveling, and trying new food. We attended the same high school, university, and law school and now work in education.

I am the type of wife who will surprise Jhonatan with his favorite dishes just to see his smile, spontaneously dance around, or act silly to hear his laughter. I am the kind of daughter who will wake up early to have coffee and go on morning strolls to the beach to see the sunrise, and a sister who will hold your hand through challenging times and celebrate your successes. I am a friend who will carve time to join your workouts to help you reach a goal, but I’m also a friend that can laugh at everything and nothing at all with you. I have always known I wanted to be a mother, and devote my life to nurturing a friendship, and creating memories with my child. I envision being a mom that makes confetti cupcakes with all different types of sprinkles with them just because it’s Saturday, having a pizza and movie night, and singing and dancing to all the songs with them. Plan the holidays to be all about family - invite all the cousins, aunts, and uncles, and play games together to commemorate the special occasion.

When Sandra arrives home after a long day at work and in L.A. traffic, she is always welcomed home with endless kisses and wiggle butts from her fur babies. She then heads over to her sister’s house, where her niece and nephew run to her with open arms and say, “I missed you, Tia!” and rush her inside to tell her all about their day at school. Being showered with love from the people she most cares about soothes away any rough day.

Anyone who knows Sandra will always tell you that she is the most kind-hearted and personable person you will ever meet!

Sandra shows you love by dedicating you time, making you a special dessert, holding your hand as you embark on a new journey. Sandra is the most cheerful morning person; she wakes up singing songs to her fur babies as she prepares their breakfast. Sandra was born to be a mother! I’ve seen how devoted she is to her nieces & nephews. She makes their birthday cakes and jumps in the bouncy houses with them - they genuinely love her and respect her so much!

As I sit on my couch, looking out into the rain, deciding what to share about myself, my mind travels back to those pitch-black stormy nights in Benito Juarez, Mexico; when the roof of my house —made of crude banana leaf and cardboard— would often collapse. Although my childhood home was always filled with love, on nights like that, I dreamed of a better tomorrow - where food, money, and stability were not impossible to acquire.

My upbringing shaped me into the man I am today - the backbone of my close friends and family.

I provide guidance and I am the trusting person they can feel vulnerable with. I have intentionally chosen my path from those nights to this moment. I understand the determination and resilience needed to cultivate a loving, stable, and humble home. I want to be a dad who teaches my child to value the little things in life but also prepares them for what life has to offer.

Jhonatan is the kind of husband who helps with housework after a long day at work so that we can spend our evenings together watching our favorite series on Netflix while treating ourselves to a guilty-pleasure snack. He is the kind of son and brother who will always take your call and is there at a moment’s notice just to make sure you are okay. Jhonatan is the kind of friend who will agree to raise his hands on scary rides in Universal Studios just to indulge in the fun but is also the friend you could rely on to give you honest and loving advice.

For Jhonatan, there is nothing better in life than devoting time and creating memories with his child.

He envisions playing with them outdoors in the dirt, pretending they live in a castle while being invaded by dragons, teaching them how to ride a bike, and being there for them if they fall. Jhonatan will be a dad who helps with school projects and cuddles with them in a fort created by bed sheets as he shares the folk-tale stories his grandma used to tell him as a child.

Our enthusiasm for the law and advocacy directed us to a less traditional path than our law school classmates. Armed with the benefits of a legal education, the perspective gained from our unique personal experiences, and having had the privilege to work with diverse students from all backgrounds only enhanced our true passion - advocating and develop plans for equity and inclusion for all students in education. Also, working in education allow us to have a work-life balance, something that is very important to us.

We live in a house with two bedrooms, one bathroom, a cozy open-floor living room and kitchen, a large front yard, and a connecting backyard to Sandra’s sister and mom’s house.

We live half a block away from our community park: where we take our dogs to walk and where we both learned to swim as children. Every Cinco de Mayo and Halloween, the surrounding schools organize a parade and fair where the community gathers to celebrate. We live within a five-mile radius of ten elementary schools with a range of focus in early coding to advance math, three middle schools with partnerships with Boeing and Northrop Grumman, and six charter high schools with access to free tutoring and partnerships with prestige universities. We are also one mile away from the Sofi Stadium, YouTube Theater, KIA Forum, and Clippers Stadium - all known to host events, concerts, the 2022 Superbowl, football, basketball, and soccer games, and are scheduled to host the 2026 soccer world cup. We are also one mile from the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles, where children can learn to play various instruments. These are some of the opportunities we will offer our child.

We have two precious and kind-hearted fur babies, Luna and Bella. Luna, our sweet marshmallow, is 6 years old; she has filled our lives with so much joy and brings out the kids in us. Because of her love, a seed was planted in our hearts to begin growing our family. Bella, our Queen B, is 5 years old; she came from a negligent home, but our nurture and patience made her the kindness and most joyfully affectionate dog you will ever meet. Bella taught us that true unconditional love is not just given but earned - she was our hidden gem.

Our families have anxiously waited for many years for us to be parents and bring a baby into the family - so the day we announced we would be adopting, they cheered and quickly began composing a babysitting schedule.

Sandra’s mom, sister, brother-in-law, niece, and nephew live in the back house - just 30 seconds away from our house - making it so easy to spend time together. Multiple times a day, we head over to their house to make food together, drink coffee, or just hang out. Jhonatan’s mom, stepdad, brother, and sister live just 15 minutes away, so we spend Sunday mornings cooking traditional Salvadorian or Mexican food while reminiscing about funny childhood memories. Sandra and her sister were adopted through open adoption, so we know firsthand how inviting and nurturing our extended families have been to them and their birth mother. Both our families are over the moon to welcome your baby into our homes and shower them with kindness and unconditional love.

We have been truly blessed to have developed such admiration and genuine friendships with our parents. Most of the time, our parents were our go-to couple for dinner and traveling. We aspire to build and nurture our bond with our child so we can have a genuine friendship with them and, later in life - with their significant other. We are eager to shower our child with endless kisses and hugs and open their worlds to endless possibilities. We are passionate about teaching our child: the importance of being kind and helpful to others but respecting their boundaries, being comfortable with having the self-confidence to express how they feel, understanding that it takes dedication and hard work to get what you wish, always being grateful and humble for what God has blessed you with, treasure the little moments in life and cherish all of the great things that happen in your life.
