After several years of trying to grow our family, we realized that adoption was the right choice for us.

Adoption also holds a special meaning for our family as Shawn’s father was raised in an orphanage, and we often reflect on how much he would have benefited from the stability and love of an adoptive home.

With the support of our extended family and guidance from friends who have adopted, we are grateful and excited for the opportunity to welcome a child into our lives and to provide a loving, supportive home where they can grow and thrive.

We met when a mutual friend invited Shannon to Shawn’s birthday party. As soon as we started chatting, we both felt an immediate connection and ease with each other. We were together soon after that. When you know, you know.

We've been together for 11 years and happily married for over eight! Our relationship is built on deep love, respect, and a lot of laughter. We love being silly together and can't wait to share that joy with our child.

I grew up in Los Angeles with my parents and older sister. My dad, a film editor, sparked my love of film while my mom—born and raised in Mexico—shared her love of Mexican cooking and encouraged my interest in music by taking my friends and me to concerts. My sister and I are close in age, and we spent much of our childhood playing sports, making up dances, and riding bikes. Attending Catholic school instilled in me a strong desire to help others. My parents divorced when I was in high school, and my dad later married my stepmother, Meg, who has been a wonderful source of support. My dad and Meg now live in South Carolina, and despite the distance, we stay connected. My mom lives nearby, and we see each other often. I’m passionate about improving people’s lives and have dedicated my career to public service in local government, focusing on community initiatives. I hold a bachelor’s degree in sociology and political science and a master’s in public administration.

Shannon is generous, thoughtful, and funny. She makes me a better person, and I’m so grateful to share my life with her. A fantastic listener, she talks things through with me and stays by my side as we navigate whatever comes our way. Her dedication to improving our community inspires me to give back more.

I grew up in a suburb of Boston with my parents and older sister. It was a supportive home that valued education, creativity, and physical activity. My sister and I are close, and we’ve always shared a love of movies and storytelling, spending hours watching films together and talking about what we loved. My mom is a psychologist, my dad worked in sales, and I cheered them on as they ran the Boston Marathon multiple times. After college, I spent several years in New York pursuing acting and writing, performing in commercials and off-Broadway productions. I later moved west to focus on writing and found a welcoming, diverse community of creative friends.

I’m now a screenwriter, director, and advertising creative, working full time at an ad agency where I collaborate on campaigns and TV spots and get to use my love of comedy. I continue to develop personal projects and value creativity, imagination, and play—qualities I’m excited to share with our future child.

Shawn is smart, hilarious, and compassionate. Marrying him was the best decision I’ve made. He listens thoughtfully and is great at communicating. I love how he rolls with life’s punches, approaches challenges with creativity, and stays positive. His quick wit and sense of humor keep me laughing every day.

We love spending time with family and close friends—whether that means going to the movies, hiking, sharing a meal, or simply taking a walk around the neighborhood. We look forward to including our future child in these everyday moments.

Shawn is a wonderful cook and loves bringing people together over home-cooked meals. Shannon finds joy in gardening and bird watching and is excited to share her love of nature with our child. She also plays guitar and looks forward to family sing-alongs and impromptu jam sessions at home.

Giving back is important to us. We have both volunteered tutoring children, and one of our favorite traditions is helping foster youth get ready for prom at the annual Glamour Gowns and Suit Up event.

We’re big fans of movie nights, whether out at the theater or at home on the couch. Popcorn is always required! We’re also very active and see exercise as a way to have fun while supporting our mental and physical health. Hiking, running, dancing, and going to the gym are all part of our routine—things we’re excited to share with our future child.

We love our beautiful neighborhood and spacious apartment. It’s diverse, walkable, and filled with great schools, parks, and close friends nearby. We live on a quiet street, and we’re excited to make our place a warm, loving home for a child. We love relaxing on our porch with a book or watching the birds visit our feeder. Many of our friends live nearby and have children, giving us a built-in community of playmates, hand-me-downs, and plenty of shared support.

We love cuddling and playing with our furry family - Junebug and Sadie. They are constantly amusing us with their antics and cuteness. Sadie loves belly rubs and chasing treats, while Junebug enjoys being brushed and making biscuits on Shannon every night.

We’re incredibly lucky to have loving family and friends, near and far, who are very important to us and excited about our decision to adopt. Shawn’s sister and Shannon’s cousin live just 10 minutes away and are thrilled to become aunties. We see them often for dinners, walks, and outings together. Shawn’s parents live in Boston, but they visit often to enjoy the southern California sunshine and spend quality time with us. Shannon’s mom lives nearby and often joins us for lunch or a shopping day. Her dad and step-mom recently moved to South Carolina, and we are excited to visit them soon. Each year, Shannon’s sister and her husband visit from Spain, and their time here is always a highlight for our family.

We hope to provide a loving and supportive home where your child will feel deeply and unconditionally loved. We want you to know that we will be steady, present, and compassionate. Our parenting philosophy is grounded in balance: offering enough structure to help a child feel safe and secure, while giving them the freedom to express themselves, ask questions, and grow into who they are.
