Choose a Family

Tom and Kelly

Hello and welcome, we are Tom and Kelly from Massachusetts.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at our profile and get to know a little bit about us! We hope to have an open adoption with whomever chooses us for their child and we look forward to getting to know them and building our relationship! We hope this profile will give you a sense of us as a family and the life we can provide for a child. We wish you strength and comfort as you make the decision that’s best for you and your baby.

We are a friendly, affectionate, fun-loving couple who have been together for 8 ½ years (married for 6) and we live in a single family house in a suburb north of Boston, MA. Although we are not able to have biological children, we both love kids, so pursuing adoption seemed like a natural plan for us! We are very grateful for the chance to become parents and our families are so excited and supportive of us adding to our family through adoption. We are fortunate to live near both sides of our family and we get to see them often. We are blessed to have three nieces and a nephew between our families plus many of our friends’ children in our lives. We enjoy spending time with them whether it is babysitting, hosting sleepovers, watching their sporting events, going apple picking in the fall or throwing cookouts in the summer, whatever we end up doing we always have so much fun with them!

Tom and I didn’t officially meet until a year after college although we graduated from Northeastern University at the same time. Tom and I were introduced through a mutual friend at a birthday party. We realized later on, that although we had never spoken before, we had been at the same place a few times over the years! We started dating after that night and have been together ever since! We both lived and worked in Boston at the time and stayed in the city for about two years after we got married, until we moved back to my hometown and bought our home. Although we don’t live in the city anymore we are happy to still be so close to Boston. We enjoy having date nights in the city, going to our favorite restaurants, seeing comedy shows, or going to concerts. There are many daytime activities we enjoy there as well, visiting the aquarium, having picnics in Boston Common, going to Red Sox games, and taking walks around Castle Island.

– Honeymooning in Punta Cana, D.R.

– Attending a friend’s wedding in San Francisco, CA

– Sightseeing for our five year wedding anniversary in New York City, NY

– Visiting college friends in Philadelphia, PA

– Touring the wineries and mansions of Newport, RI

– Hiking the White Mountain in Jackson, NH

– Renting a beach house in Wells, ME  every year with Kelly’s family

We live in a cozy renovated farmhouse, which has a nice blend of modern updates and old-fashion charm. We live in the rural section of our city, and our house is across the street from a horse farm. It is so peaceful to look out and see the horses grazing! We have a large flat side yard and backyard where we plan to put a swing set. Most importantly though we made sure that our house was in a good school district when we purchased it four years ago, in hopes of one day expanding our family! We have recently set up a neutral nursery so that we will be ready whenever that time comes!

I am so lucky to be married to such a wonderful person! Tom is an amazing husband, he is so warm, thoughtful, handsome, smart, funny and hardworking (he earned his Master’s Degree in Business while working full time!). We always have so much fun together, some of our favorite activities are hiking, going mini-golfing or to the driving range (I haven’t graduated to real golf yet!) bowling, playing board games, watching movies or even just going on drives together; where we enjoy talking, good natured teasing, playing car games that we have made up or listening to one of our favorite Podcasts. I can tell by the way he takes care of me that he will be an awesome father one day. Tom is a great uncle to our nieces and nephew too. My sister’s kids always run to him right away, asking him to play with them whenever we get together which he happily does. He is always quick with a joke or a silly face to make them laugh. He also loves taking care of his sister’s toddler Emma and baby Abby, feeding them, changing their diapers, reading to them or chasing Emma around.

Tom’s Hobbies

– Golfing

– Playing basketball with co-workers

– Watching football

– Reading

– Watching movies

Tom is one of three siblings each born a year apart. Tom’s father who he was very close to, passed away three years ago after a battle with cancer. Luckily he had lived nearby so we got to see him often. Tom’s mother, two sisters, brother-in-law and two nieces (Emma age 3 and Abby age 1) live close by so we see them as much as we can! We love getting together with them, playing board games, watching football and babysitting our nieces. Tom has a large close knit extended family as well many of whom still live in the area.

Kelly is my best friend. She is beautiful, funny, kind, warm, caring, selfless and the easiest person in the world to talk to. From the night we met we were inseparable. Kelly allows me to be myself, and is very supportive in both my career and our relationship. I always enjoy every minute I spend with her, as we can be serious or silly and it’s always a great time. We thoroughly enjoy spending time together whether its hiking and being active outdoors to just lounging around the house having a conversation. We enjoy a lot of the same movies, TV shows and Podcasts. I love watching Kelly interact with our nieces and our nephew, they adore her. She is just as wonderful with our friends’ kids as she is with family, she is always happy to play with them, sing them silly songs, or read them stories. Kelly’s job as a pediatric nurse goes to show you how caring and selfless she can be, she takes pride in her job and is always looking to take care of people. Kelly works at Boston Children’s Hospital which is the number one pediatric hospital in the country (and where Kelly received her care growing up!), it is a comfort to know that if our child needed medical care we live so close to a great hospital. I am very proud of her and what she has accomplished. The qualities that make her a great nurse will allow her to be a great mother as well. I know she will be caring as well as firm when needed and I cannot wait to see her blossom as a mother.

Kelly is really close with her parents who have been married for over forty years and live just 10 minutes away from us. They are very involved grandparents to our niece and nephew and are excited for us to add to our family and to help us with child care. Kelly’s sister, her husband and our niece (Allison age 9) and nephew (Ryan age 5) live in our city too which is where Kelly and her sister grew up. We love spending time with them, hanging out at home, going to the movies, hosting sleepovers and watching their sporting events. Most of Kelly’s extended family still lives in our city or in neighboring towns, so she has many aunts, uncles, and cousins who have children, only minutes away.

We realized even from early in our relationship that we had the same values and hopes for our future and a big part of that was having a family. All of our major decisions as a couple have been centered around our goal of becoming parents one day. We made sure when advancing in our careers that our schedules would allow us to spend more time together as a family. As a nurse, I am able to work only three days a week and Tom’s job as an accountant allows him to work from home when needed. We now feel we are in a great position to begin parenthood!

  • We promise to provide a loving, safe and supportive home for a child to thrive and an environment filled with friends and family.
  • We are excited for the “everyday” activities like helping them with their homework, teaching them to read and ride a bike, and even simply spending the afternoon playing with our kid in our yard.
  • Education is very important to us, and we will strive to provide all the opportunities we can to our child throughout their life.
  • We will instill the virtues our parents’ raised us with that will teach our child to grow up with respect for others and accepting of all people.
  • We will emphasize open and honest communication in our family. We want our child to be able to talk to us about anything, knowing we will always be there for them.

In closing, thank you for taking the time to learn about us as you consider adoption for your family. We are ready to share our unconditional love with a child and expand our family through adoption. Should you decide that adoption is the right path for your family, we respect and acknowledge the importance of choosing the people that you feel are the right ones to raise your child. If you feel connected to us, we would love to hear from you!
