Hello there! Our names are Yuning and Jeff. We live in Redwood City, California. Although we haven’t met you, we already know what a courageous and selfless woman you are. We both love children and have always wanted to grow our family. Even before marriage, we talked about wanting to adopt a child whether we could have biological children or not. We appreciate your willingness to let your child come to a loving home like ours.

Your child will know you as the courageous woman that gave them life and your love for them is selfless and unconditional.

We love to travel and have been to many countries together including:
Canada, China, Israel, Japan, French Polynesia, the United Kingdom, and Mexico. We met by chance on Valentine's Day in 2009. Yuning went out to dance with a friend and ended up at a "Singles Awareness Day Party". The party was hosted by her future husband – Jeff.

We hit it off right away. Yuning tried Jeff’s homemade mead (honey wine) and loved it. Jeff was impressed by Yuning’s knowledge of winemaking. We found out we both love Russell Peters - the Indian Canadian comedian. Jeff grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and can do a pretty good Bill Clinton impersonation. Yuning laughed so hard that her jaw hurt. Four years later we were married, surrounded by our closest friends and family.
Today, we enjoy a number of activities together. We enjoy spending time on our sailboat, hiking in the Redwoods with friends, or visiting museums.

We have a sailboat that we call our "2nd home". We enjoy participating in sailboat races and casual cruising. Sailing is also a vehicle for us to give back to the community. We donate trips on our sailboat to fundraisers and take underprivileged children on sails. Our yacht club offers great youth sailing programs for children of all ages. We can see our future child among the cute kids in their little sailboats.

Yuning is an energetic, fun, smart, caring woman who people love to be around. She loves to joke and laugh and have a great time in the moment. Always on the move, she doesn't waste a second of the day as she comes up with the next best idea to improve the world or just improve the mood in the room!

Yuning is a civil engineer and works at a real estate development firm. In her spare time, she’s also a talented painter and pianist. She’s also a travel lover and is willing to learn new things constantly. She believes being curious is the key to a healthy life. She will be an inspiration to a passionate, loving, and strong child.

I couldn't be happier with our life together. Yuning is ready to take on the role of mother to a new generation and is excited about this next step in life.

Jeff is decisive and never second guesses himself. He’s social, charismatic, and quite a leader. While he was studying computer engineering at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, he co-founded the local AEPi chapter. To this day, he remains a great friend and mentor to his fraternity brothers. He also serves on the board of directors at our yacht club.

He is very loving, warm, and a great communicator. Life with him is so easy because there is nothing that we can’t talk about. He has a great sense of humor. (I think all my wrinkles are laugh lines.) Despite his demanding job in a high tech company, Jeff has many talents and hobbies. He’s also very handy around the house and around our sailboat.

He is a very family-oriented man. He talks to his parents and sister almost everyday and calls his grandparents every week. I love watching him interact with children. He can always keep kids happy and entertained, regardless of age.

Redwood City is a medium-sized city on the San Francisco Peninsula. Our home is an open concept single story that we love to entertain guests in or simply relax in. It has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There is plenty of room for a child to join our family. The backyard has a garden and a good-sized chicken coop for our 7 little “girls” (chickens).

Our neighborhood is nice and established. We are seeing a growing number of families with children who have moved in over the last few years. The elementary school is one block away. We live on a one-way street that has little traffic. Most of the children in our neighborhood walk to school as it is very safe.

We have chickens in our backyard! We got them when they were two days old. All of them have their own names. Some of them are named after our friends so they have first and last names. They provide delicious, organic eggs daily for our family. Each chicken has their own personality and it’s super fun to watch them interact with each other. We are working on a children’s book about backyard chickens based on the true story of our “girls”. Jeff is the author and Yuning is the illustrator.

We both come from very loving and calm families. Yuning is an only child. She and her mother are very close. After Yuning’s father passed away in 2015, her mother moved in with us. She is a retired chemistry teacher. Now, she is teaching Mandarin Chinese to children in a Chinese after school program. She loves kids and is looking forward to providing the love and support that only a grandmother can give. Jeff’s younger sister lives in Kansas with her husband, son, and daughter. His parents live in Southern California. Although we live somewhat far geographically, we get together often. Every year we have at least one family vacation together. We rotate Thanksgiving among Southern California, Northern California, and Kansas. Our nephew is three years old and our niece is four months old. Spending time as a family with them and seeing how much they have grown is very meaningful for us.

Over the years we have found a community for ourselves in our neighborhood and through school, work, sailing, hiking and traveling.

In addition to American holidays, we also celebrate Chinese New Year. Every year, we host a Chinese New Year party. Jeff’s parents always come up from Southern California for it.

Jeff grew up in Birmingham, Alabama until the age of 14. We still have many family friends there. Going to Tuscaloosa to watch an Alabama game and immerse ourselves in the South is one of our favorite family trips. Roll Tide!
