4 Ways to Create a Successful Adoption Plan

Placing your baby for adoption is a life-changing decision. Once you have made this emotional decision, the next step is creating an adoption plan that will help you select the right adoptive family for your baby and ensure a happy and bright future for your child. As with any major undertaking, a well-thought-out plan will help ensure success.

Adoption Plan

At AdoptHelp, we will help you create a personalized and successful adoption plan that is right for you. Our birth mother advocates will help you in every step of the adoption process and will handle all the details of your adoption plan.

Here are the steps to creating a successful adoption plan for your baby:

Research Your Options
Be sure that adoption is the right choice for you and your baby (please add back in the link). Determine what degree of openness you would like to have and ensure that is understood and communicated to your case worker and the adoptive parents. There are many degrees of openness within adoption and it all comes down to the comfortability of all involved. The birth mother, adoptive parent(s) and adoptee can all be connected with each other through a variety of channels: letters, phone calls, emails, or visits (all depending on the degree of openness).

Create an Ideal Situation for your Baby
To narrow down your options and create an ideal situation for your baby. Ask yourself what kind of life you want for your baby and what is best for them. Decide what kind of adoptive family you want for your baby including what characteristics and values you are looking for.

At AdoptHelp, our case workers will answer all your questions and give you the information you need before placing your child for adoption.

Explore Adoptive Family Profiles
AdoptHelp has a large number of wonderful, pre-screened adoptive families for you to choose from. Share the characteristics and qualities you are looking for in adoptive parents with us and how much contact you want with them; we will send you the profiles, so you can review and select the perfect adoptive family for your child.

Analyze everything and take some time to select the ideal adoptive family for your baby. Once you find a family that you are interested in, contact a case worker who will connect you with the family.

If you find that they are not the right fit, you can always select another family.

Feel Confident with Your Decision
Even if you have already selected a loving adoptive family for your baby, you may still wonder whether you’ve made the right decision. Ask yourself if you’re comfortable with the openness of your adoption and discuss that with the family and your case worker if you have any concerns. Communication is key. Make sure you’re confident with your adoption plan and that you are placing your baby in the right hands. Once you are confident with your decision, you can create a birth plan that includes whether you want adoptive parent(s) to be present in the hospital during delivery.

At AdoptHelp, we provide moral, legal, and financial assistance throughout your adoption journey. We can also assist birth mothers with obtaining the medical coverage they need for their pregnancy. In most states, birth mothers can receive assistance with pregnancy-related living expenses such as food, rent, utilities, maternity clothing, and transportation as well as legal and counseling services. You will also receive lifelong ongoing support and assistance after placement.
