¡Hola! We’re Laura and Victor from San Diego, California. We’re really grateful you’re taking a moment to read about us. We know this may be an emotional time, and we don’t take lightly the trust involved in considering us as parents for your child. We hope these pages give you a real sense of who we are and the kind of everyday life your child would grow up in. If chosen, we would raise your child in a bilingual home where Spanish and English mix at the dinner table, music plays in the kitchen, and weekends often end with sandy feet and a tired, happy puppy.

We always imagined building a family together. There was grief in infertility, but there was also clarity. We realized our dream wasn’t about pregnancy. It was about parenting. Adoption felt like the right way for us to become parents.

We imagine kneeling on the floor building block towers, answering a hundred ‘why’ questions before breakfast, and ending the day curled up together reading one more story before our “buenas noches”. We are excited and ready to become parents through adoption and to welcome your child into a life filled with the everyday adventures that make us happy.

From the beginning, our relationship has been grounded in humor, honest conversation, and a shared sense of adventure. We love being outdoors, but we are just as happy at home reading, listening to music, or watching a movie together. Most evenings you will find us in the kitchen with music playing, food sizzling, and our dog Churro circling our feet while conversations drift easily between Spanish and English.

We talk openly about everything, from future plans to small everyday worries, and Laura often adds imaginative “what if” scenarios that spark thoughtful and sometimes hilarious discussions. Over time we have learned how to slow down, listen, and support one another with patience and care. That steady sense of teamwork is something we look forward to bringing into parenting.

El español es parte esencial de quienes somos. En nuestra casa se habla en inglés y en español, y soñamos con criar a un hijo/a que pueda sentirse cómodo/a en ambos idiomas. Nos encantaría compartir tradiciones, canciones, conversaciones alrededor de la mesa y visitas con familia donde el español fluya con naturalidad. Queremos que un hijo/a se sienta orgulloso/a de cada parte de su identidad y que el idioma sea un puente que lo/a conecte con sus raíces y con el mundo.

I love creating thoughtful, handmade things. One of the first gifts I gave Victor was a card with a poem and sketch cut into puzzle pieces that he had to put together. I often lose track of time sewing or mending Churro’s toys, or making shirts or jackets for my siblings. That playful creativity carries into how I spend time with kids. I love their honesty and curiosity, and I enjoy laughing with them as they say exactly what’s on their minds. I like teaching everyday skills in a hands-on way, whether that’s cooking a simple meal side by side with my niece or helping build a giant backyard igloo when I worked as a nanny. In San Diego, I’ll gladly settle for building sand castles instead. I’m excited about becoming a parent and watching a child grow into their own confidence. I hope to teach resilience not just through words, but by modeling it.

Laura’s joy is contagious. Recently, she accidentally butt-dialed me while doing chores. The voicemail started with her talking to Churro and slowly turned into her singing in a completely silly voice. It was unfiltered, joyful, and entirely her.

That natural joy helps others feel comfortable quickly, and I am always struck by how genuinely curious she is about people. Many of my friends’ kids still ask about her after meeting her only once, drawn to her laughter and the way she connects with them so easily.

I deeply admire her determination and resilience. She moved from Colombia as a teenager, learned English, and worked full time while completing college. Laura balances strength with humor, and I know she will create a home where a child feels free to be themselves.

I’m naturally curious and enjoy learning new things, whether it’s trying a new recipe, exploring a new trail, or taking classes for a new woodworking hobby.

I can be silly, especially when I’m improvising an obstacle course for my niece and nephew or playing tug with our puppy, Churro. I value communication and try to approach challenges with calm conversation and consistency.

I lost my father when I was young. It taught me how much steady presence matters, and it’s one of the reasons I care so deeply about being an engaged dad. I’m most excited about the everyday parts of being a dad: bedtime stories, changing a bike tire in the driveway, or crouching down to look at ants with a magnifying glass. I hope to create a home that feels dependable, where a child feels safe to ask questions and make mistakes, knowing that they are loved.

Victor is one of the most thoughtful and quietly driven people I know. I admire how incredibly smart and humble he is. Whether he is caring for patients at work or building something in the garage, I see how seriously he takes responsibility and how much he cares about doing things well. He will happily spend an evening watching videos or reading about dog training, determined to be the best possible dog dad to Churrito.

When things feel uncertain, he slows down, thinks it through, and brings a steadiness that makes our life feel secure. Last year, when I had a medical scare, that steadiness carried us through it. He asked thoughtful questions, made sure I understood what was happening, and helped me feel calm when I was overwhelmed. I know he will be a loving, patient father who shows up every single day.

We love being outdoors, whether that means biking along the coast, heading to the beach, or spending time at the San Diego Zoo with friends. Victor enjoys running and recently took up woodworking, while Laura loves sewing and creating things with her hands.

Our favorite days are the ones that are unplanned and a little messy, when we spontaneously run into friends, are outside too long or lose track of time cooking dinner.

We live in a residential neighborhood in San Diego. Our home has a front patio and a spacious backyard where we share meals with friends, play with Churro, and spend warm evenings outside.

We are fortunate to live next to a community park with a basketball court, playground, and cactus garden. On most afternoons it is filled with kids riding bikes and playing, and on weekends it comes alive with birthday parties, family barbecues, and even quinceañeras. It feels vibrant and welcoming.

Our neighborhood is easy to walk, and we have built simple daily routines here, like evening walks with Churro. We are about ten minutes from Balboa Park and fifteen minutes from the beach, so the zoo, museums, open spaces, and the ocean are always close by.

We imagine putting down deep roots here and raising a child in a place that already feels like home.

Churrito is our playful, wiggly, sugar-and-cinnamon–sprinkled pup. He loves tugging on ropes and proudly carries his favorite stuffed animals, “Chicken,” “Bear,” and “Frog,” from room to room. We have taught him sit, down, come, and stay, but he already seemed to know “love.” He reminds us daily how much joy and connection can come from patience, consistency, and a lot of encouragement.

Family is very important to both of us. Many of our relatives live in different parts of the country and in Colombia, so while we are not together every week, we stay connected through regular calls, and meaningful time together when we can. When we are with family, the focus is long meals, conversation, and shared activities.

Because distance is part of our reality, we have built a strong community locally as well. We have a close circle of friends in San Diego and Los Angeles who feel like extended family. Many of them have children, and we spend time together at parks, dinners, and celebrations. These are the people we see regularly and who are already part of our daily rhythm.

We feel grateful to have both family roots and close friendships that will be part of a child’s life as our family grows.

We believe our child’s story begins before us. Your child will always have roots that matter, and we would never want that to be hidden or minimized.
