Hello! We are JPaul & Alex from Virginia Beach, Virginia. Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about us! We truly admire your decision to consider adoption. We are humbled and excited for you to consider us when you have so many options.
We have always known that we wanted a large family. JPaul was adopted when he was a baby, so adoption has always been a part of our family plan!
We believe that everything happens for a reason, so after years of not being able to conceive on our own, we know now is the time to grow our family through the wonderful possibility of adoption. We hope we are able to paint a picture of the loving, happy, fun life we have built and are excited to add a beautiful new addition to!
We met at a game night at a mutual friend’s house. Alex’s first impression was that JPaul was sooo nice. JPaul’s first impression of Alex was that she takes board games very seriously! Both are still true!
Despite Alex's competitive nature, JPaul was eager to win her heart. Without knowing that Alex's favorite Disney princess was Belle, from Beauty and the Beast, he showed up for their first date with a single red rose. When it came time to propose, JPaul knew exactly when and where to do it. It had to be Disney! Since JPaul knows that his birth family has German heritage, he chose Germany in Epcot to pop the question. Our wedding was magical and a perfect way to start our life together, surrounded by our friends and family in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 2014. We still visit Disney World, play board games, and enjoy spending time with family and friends.
One of our favorite things to do is travel and explore new places. Whether it be to European countries, warm Caribbean beaches, snow-covered Alaskan mountains, or camping in state parks, we love experiencing new places and cultures. We look forward to being able to share these new experiences and adventures with our future child.
When we aren’t traveling, we enjoy cooking at home and trying new recipes. At least two nights a week, we try a recipe we have never tried before and add it to our recipe book!
We enjoy tackling “Do It Yourself” projects around the house. We even started a company where we refurbish old furniture and turn it into something beautiful.
Our favorite pastime is having friends and family over to sit around a bonfire in the backyard. We grill out, roast s’mores, and put a movie up on the projector to watch around the fire.
The most exciting part about us being able to adopt, is that I too was adopted when I was born, and I cannot wait for the day I am able to share that with our future child!
I was born and raised in Fairfax, Virginia which is located on the outskirts of Washington, D.C. Growing up, my family was very focused on spending as much time together as possible. My parents, Ann and Gary, were constantly taking my brother Drake and me to numerous sport games. When we weren’t heading to sporting events, we were heading to visit family across the country. In my free time, I enjoy doing housework, yard work, and above all else, I enjoy spending as much time as possible with our family. My job as a remote corporate recruiter allows me to work from home, have a flexible schedule, and have plenty of time to spend with our future child.
JPaul is the most thoughtful, kind, and generous person I have ever met. He is the kind of person that would give you the shirt off his back. He jumps at the opportunity to help anyone in need; from helping friends move, renovate, and do house projects, to babysitting our nieces, he is constantly going out of his way to be the person our loved ones can always count on. He is also so much fun! He is always smiling and making corny jokes, putting everyone around him at ease. He always finds a new way to brighten up my day, leaving a “have a great day” note on my desk in the morning or bringing me flowers “just because”. Watching how patient and loving he is when he plays with our nieces and nephew just solidifies to me what an amazing dad JPaul will be!
I was born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and have always dreamed of raising a family here! I grew up in a very close-knit family with my mom, Judi; my dad, Joe; and my younger sister, Jillian, who is also my best friend. I studied psychology in college, which helps me better understand and communicate with people. I use these skills daily in my career as a travel nurse recruiter. I’m extremely fortunate to be able to make my own schedule and work from my home office. Most people who know me would describe me as a goofball, but they also know that I’m someone they can always come to if they ever need anything. I’m looking forward to singing, dancing, and being silly with our future child, while always making them feel supported and safe.
Alex is an incredibly funny, considerate, supportive, and caring person. She is compassionate, empathetic, intelligent, and witty and people just seem to gravitate towards her.
She lights up every room she walks into and makes me laugh every single day. She loves to entertain and always makes sure everyone feels welcome and included. Alex has an extraordinary talent when it comes to engaging with children, as her patience and personality allow her to easily connect with them. She is always playing with our nieces, making up songs and dances, or reading to them. It brings her so much joy. She will make an incredible mom.

Growing up, JPaul and his family used to go on a vacation every year to “his favorite place”, Virginia Beach.
He looked forward to this trip every year where he got to go jet skiing, spend all day at the beach, and eat the best seafood! Alex always knew she wanted to settle down and raise a family in her hometown of Virginia Beach. As fate would have it, JPaul moved to Virginia Beach for college and decided he never wanted to leave! We are within walking distance of tons of local restaurants and just a bike ride away from the beach and the neighborhood park. We are excited to push our future child on the same swings and go boogie-boarding at the same beach that we both enjoyed when we were growing up.
Sven is a Great Dane who is 6 years old and never runs out of kisses and snuggles. In keeping with our love for Disney, we could not have found a more suitable name for our dog. He reminds us of the big goofy reindeer from the movie Frozen. He loves to lay on the couch or run around our big backyard. Sven thoroughly enjoys humans of all ages, even when some of the smaller ones pretend he is a pony! He truly is a gentle giant.
We live less than two miles away from Alex’s immediate family and spend time together every weekend, whether it’s for Saturday cookouts by the pool or for Sunday family dinner. Her cousins, aunts, and uncles all come into town every year for Thanksgiving so there is always lots of love, football, and of course board games! JPaul’s parents and his brother’s family all live in North Carolina, which is just a stone’s throw away. We are so fortunate to have our family so close as we have just recently welcomed two nieces, Madison and Olivia, and our nephew, Beau to the family!
We are so excited about adopting a child. We have so much love to give and have always dreamed of being parents and having a family of our own.
We are looking forward to being able to share the wonderful life we have built together, spending time with our close-knit families, traveling the world to learn about new cultures, and creating lasting memories. We can’t wait to teach our future child the little things, like how to ride a bike or how to tie their shoes. But we are looking forward to teaching them about the difficult things too, like coping with their emotions, and showing love and tolerance to those who are different than them. We promise to support your child, listen to them, guide them, protect them, and let them know every day just how loved they are.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving us a chance. We hope our love and happiness comes across in these few short pages! We have so much love to give and cannot wait to become parents. We look forward to helping our future child grow into a caring, determined, kind, confident person and we are honored that you are considering us. We hope you feel a connection to us and our story. We can’t wait to hear more about you and your hopes and dreams for your child’s future.
