Hello! We’re Andrew, Brendan, and Emmett from Cincinnati, Ohio. We are grateful to have the opportunity to share a bit about ourselves, and we admire your courage and strength as you consider adoption for your child.
Since we first met in 2017 we hoped to start a family together one day. We were overjoyed to adopt our son Emmett when he was born in 2023. We have loved every part of family life—morning cuddles, neighborhood walks, family dinners, vacations, and dance parties. Now we feel ready to welcome another precious child and grow our family to four!
We met in Cleveland, Ohio in 2017 and bonded over our love of music, spending time outdoors, and our big extended families. We dated long-distance for several years (Brendan in Chicago, Andrew in Cleveland) before getting married in Cincinnati in 2021. Before we married, we took hiking trips to over a dozen national parks where we got to know and trust each other really well! Brendan stays home full-time with our son, but previously worked as a high school teacher for many years. Andrew works as a cardiologist at a local hospital. We both prioritize family time together in the evenings and weekends, and we also spend lots of time with our extended family (grandparents, cousins, etc.). We live in a great city with tons of activities and are always getting out to the zoo, the children’s museum, the art museum, music concerts, and all the local playgrounds.
Our hobbies are one of the ways that we show love. Our home is happy when it is full! Full of good food, music, and people we love. We love cooking (family dinner every night!) and hosting, especially Sunday dinners with extended family, weekend brunches with friends, and our annual Christmas Carol party. We love spending time outside, getting our hands dirty in our garden, heading out for hikes, or just enjoying fresh air in the backyard. Watching things grow, whether it's flowers and vegetables or new family traditions, brings us a lot of joy! Music is a big part of our lives. It's always playing in our house, through a speaker or on the piano or guitar, or our son tapping along on his drum. We also had a beloved dog, Clancy, who was a special part of our family. He filled our home with warmth and cuddles, and taught us a lot about patience, care, and unconditional love. Although he recently passed, we are very much a “dog family” and love walking around the neighborhood visiting with our friends and their pets.
We love traveling together! Last year we went to Ireland for a week and can’t wait to travel abroad again. We also go to the beach in Florida every summer with our extended family. Tons of siblings and cousins all in one giant house for a week-long beach party! We love camping and hope to take our kids camping some day soon.
Brendan doesn't really love talking about himself, but here goes. Coming from a huge family (10 siblings!), Brendan loves being around other people. He loves being with friends, hosting people at our house, chatting with neighbors on walks, or catching up with his siblings on the phone. Before Emmett was born, Brendan was a high school math teacher, a job he would love to return to one day. Since Emmett's birth, Brendan has stayed home to take care of him and our family. Outside of that, Brendan loves to cook, run, and garden. He helps run a huge community garden a short distance from our house. He loves giving away the flowers and vegetables he grows. Brendan is thoughtful and funny, and loves making Emmett laugh.
Brendan is the most caring, humble, and generous person I know. Over the last two years his natural ability as a father and caretaker has shined bright. He doesn’t hesitate to put others’ needs before his own, and he is the animating force in our family. He loves to play, dance, and be goofy with our son and with his nieces and nephews. Brendan is a very spiritual and reflective person, treating everyone he meets with care and respect. He loves to make friends and create community, and he’s become a leader and a friend to many in our church. As a result, we've met some other fantastic families with young children and we all take turns hosting brunch play-dates and other get-togethers—it’s great for parents and kids! I look up to him for all of this, and I know our children will, too.
The first thing most people notice about Andrew is that he's really tall, but within a few minutes, most people learn he is one of those “gentle giant” types. He’s always loved learning and reading, and now working as a cardiologist he’s challenged to learn and improve every day, which he really enjoys. His greatest passion outside of family is music, and he loves playing the piano, especially classical music and, these days, a lot of kids songs! He is one of four siblings who all live in the Cincinnati area, and he’s thankful that our children will get to grow up with such a large and close-knit extended family. He loves cooking for friends and family alongside Brendan, especially when he gets to try out a new dish or share a family favorite.
Andrew is the kind of person who makes you feel at ease the moment you meet him. He is calm, patient, and deeply kind - the steady center of our family. He is gentle and thoughtful, always listening first and then responding. He is so talented, but also very humble. He never seeks attention or praise. He simply shows up, every single day. Watching Andrew be a dad has been incredible. He delights in the small moments—learning new words, playing silly games, bath time and bedtime. He is an incredible piano player and seeing him teach Emmett and nurture his love for music melts my heart and fills my camera roll. Andrew works hard to provide for our family but is also totally present when he is home. He has a stressful job, but the minute he walks into our home at the end of the day, he is fully in “dad-mode.” He also challenges me to grow, in body, mind, and spirit, and wants me to be the best version of myself. I love him for this, and I know that our kids will, too!

Emmett was born in November 2023 and we met him when he was two hours old. He is a really kind, joyful and funny little boy. He loves dancing, building towers (and knocking them down) and is an adventurous eater (loves Indian food)! He was a very cute truck for Halloween this year. He loves reading, swimming and riding his scooter. He prays for “babies on the way” every night.
We live on the east side of Cincinnati in a really great, safe part of town. We can walk to two big parks and several school playgrounds. We have a great public library that we go to several times a week. There are delicious ice cream shops and donut places, and a great pool that we love to go to in the summer. We are less than 15 minutes away from the Cincinnati Zoo and love to see the giraffes, elephants and hippos. The schools our kids will go to are some of the best in Cincinnati and are less than one mile away from our house. Our house has three bedrooms and a big back yard. We love having people over for meals or to hang out in the summer on our porch. Our neighborhood is amazing. We are lucky enough to be friends with many of our neighbors. There are always kids running around or biking around. Families go big for holidays—lights and inflatables for Christmas and some legitimately scary decorations for trick-or-treating.
We are so lucky to be surrounded physically and virtually by a great village. We are both close with our families —Andrew’s is here in town and most of Brendan’s is 1.5 hours away in Columbus. We are lucky to have a lot of help from grandmas and cousins for babysitting! We see our families regularly, for Sunday dinners, and all the holidays, and our son especially enjoys regular FaceTime calls with a few special aunts and uncles who are out of town. There are over 20 nieces and nephews (and counting), and we love that our children will grow up with so many cousins. Outside of family, we have been fortunate to find a wonderful community of young families at our church. Hopefully these are the people that our kids will be friends with throughout school and for a long time to come!
Birthdays are a big deal and celebrated with gifts, a cake, and a special dinner. Recently, our son has been picking out a special balloon for every birthday person! Easter, Christmas and Thanksgiving are spent with extended family here in Cincinnati or up in Columbus. We also love celebrating Halloween, New Years, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Fourth of July, and any other holiday.
We want our children to know that they are loved fully and unconditionally, and that we will always be there for them no matter what. We hope to raise children who value family, faith, and community, and who will be fun, caring, and work to make the world a better place. We plan to model this for our kids by living it out in our own lives to the best of our ability. We plan to pass on traditions such as eating dinner together every night, celebrating holidays with cousins and friends, and taking our faith seriously. We will support our children in whatever interests or passions they develop, whether it is sports or music or art (or whatever it is!), because we know that’s how they’ll flourish best. We’ll give them every opportunity we can and do our best to teach them good values, hoping that they will have all the tools and grounding they need to become the very best version of themselves.
We hope these pages have given you a glimpse of who we are and the loving home and family we hope to share with a child. Thank you for having the courage to consider adoption for your child, for taking the time to read our profile, and for considering us as an adoptive family for your child. We promise to raise your child with unconditional love and to the very best of our ability. We promise to help them understand that the adoption plan you’re making has come from a place of love and care, and to honor your desires regarding openness. We have been praying for our future child and their birth parents every day for a long time and will continue to do so.
Warmly ~ Andrew, Brendan, & Emmett
