Hello! We are Grace and Rian & our son Tate. We are so honored that you are taking the time to look at our profile! Thank you! We have so much respect for you and the decision you are making. We see your strength and bravery.
Hello! We are Grace and Rian & our son Tate. We are so honored that you are taking the time to look at our profile! Thank you! We have so much respect for you and the decision you are making. We see your strength and bravery.
Adoption has always been part of our family plan. Grace has an older sister who was adopted from South Korea as a baby, so she grew up with adoption in her heart. We also have two nephews who were adopted as toddlers, and multiple families in our friend group who have grown their families through adoption.
Becoming parents has been one of the greatest joys of our lives. We are so excited to start on this journey to expand our family. Our relationships with our siblings have been so important to both of us and we want our son, Tate, to have that special sibling bond as well. We hope this profile gives you a glimpse into who we are, the life we live, and the love we can provide.
We met through an online dating app in 2014. But little did we know, we often worked in the same building, we probably passed each other in a hallway or rode an elevator together without having ever met at work! We fell in love quickly, spending every day together.
We knew it was meant to be when Grace’s cats accepted Rian into their tribe, eventually preferring his lap for naptime! Rian proposed to Grace in 2015 after a long hike to the top of Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park. After hiking for hours, Grace just wanted to stop for a lunch break to enjoy the view and wondered why Rian was taking so long getting the sandwiches out of his backpack. He pulled out a ring instead!
We married in 2016 and had our son, Tate, in 2019. Our family dynamic is based on teamwork. We all do our best when we’re providing strength and support to each other, lifting the others up to be the best version of ourselves.
It has been such a joy to see Tate grow over the past two years. We can’t wait for him to have a younger sibling to love and grow with throughout their lives!
If we could go to Disneyland every day, we probably would! We love the rides and the way it reminds you of being a kid again, it is truly magical. It’s such a creative place where we always have fun. We hope to one day to bring our family to Disney World and maybe even the international Disney parks!
Almost every day we make our way to the neighborhood playground where Tate has met many new friends who also enjoy digging in the sand, swinging, climbing, and going down the slide. It has grown into a wonderful community of playground friends!
Another favorite is an outdoor train museum called Travel Town that houses a collection of train engines to climb aboard, as well as a small train to ride around the park. Rian’s Dad and Grandpa instilled in him a love for trains, so he loves this special spot in Los Angeles.
We love spending time outdoors, exploring new parks, going on hikes, visiting the beach, or riding bikes. Our favorite thing about the outdoors is that it is always different and something new to explore.
Rian is the best partner and the best “Dada” to Tate. He has endless energy, loves being a silly goofball, and is full of compassion. We joke that he is the Mayor of the Playground because he knows all the neighborhood kids and their parents’ names.
If Rian had a motto in life, it would be to “meet people and help people”. He is genuinely interested in learning about other people, and loves if he can find a way to be of service. He loves putting positive energy into the world, knowing that it will spread far beyond him.
Rian is a nerd at heart, in the best way. He loves all things Star Trek, Dungeons & Dragons, and especially loves theme parks and roller coasters. He has read more than one textbook on theme park design, just for fun! Rian shares his passion for learning about science, trains, comics, and games with Tate.
Growing up, Rian was active in Boy Scouts, earning Eagle Scout. He is looking forward to sharing his love for nature, service, and adventure with our children.
Rian works as a Podcast Producer. He enjoys the excitement of working on all types of podcasts. The variety of themes and topics keeps him on his toes, coming up with fresh ideas everyday. Rian works from home, which allows him the flexibility to watch Tate outside of school hours.
Grace is the strongest woman I know. Both at work and amongst our friends, she is a leader who knows how to get things done. She is my ultimate female role model and I am so proud to have her as my wife and mother of Tate. We share so many similar values; family, the importance of service, and helping those around us.
They say that those we love help us become the truest version of our selves, and that fits Grace perfectly. I would not be half the man I am today without her. She has supported me without fail. When I did late-night comedy shows, she would consistently be one of only three people in the audience (we weren’t very popular!).
Grace is a master of organizing plans for our family and friends. She always takes the lead planning our group getaways for 4th of July weekend. She is such a great host, making sure all are enjoying themselves and so attentive to everyone’s needs. She learned to bake more for the enjoyment of getting to craft new treats for others, and that is a perfect example of why I love her.
Grace works full time in the television industry. She loves that her job is always evolving and challenging her in new ways. Recently, working a hybrid schedule, sometimes at the office and sometimes at home, has allowed us all to spend more time together throughout the day. Work/life balance is very important to us.

He is 3 years old and loves adventures. Everyday Tate is so excited to go to preschool, to play with his friends and learn new things. He loves to play superhero, get dirty in the sand, and ride bikes. His favorite toys are robots and dinosaurs. He has so much fun at his weekly swim lessons. He loves playing with other kids and can’t wait to have a younger sibling to run around with.
We live in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California. We can easily get to the beach, the mountains, or the city! Our neighborhood has many families with young children that we’ve gotten to know at the playground. We enjoy visiting a house nearby with large tortoises in the front yard (we bring them leftover lettuce!). The neighborhood sidewalks are the perfect place for Tate to practice learning how to balance on his bike.
Our house has quickly filled up with toys that Tate can’t wait to share with a younger sibling. We spend hot summer afternoons in our backyard pool. The play set in the front yard is great for climbing and sliding.
Our favorite thing to do at home is have friends over! We love cooking for others, playing board games, roasting marshmallows over the fire pit, listening to records, and spending quality time with each other.
We have two cats, Fun Bobby and Megatron. They have been so patient and loving with Tate, letting him poke and cuddle them.
Our parents and siblings live in different states, but we love that we have an excuse to travel for family visits. They are all so thrilled that we are growing our family through adoption. We are very close with our parents and siblings and can’t wait to bring another child into their lives as well.
Rian has two younger sisters and is close with his cousins. His sisters love to send Tate new books to read and postcards when they travel. While Rian’s parents may live across the country, they’ve gotten creative with entertaining us on virtual chats with songs, dances, and puppet shows.
Grace comes from a big family (three brothers and five sisters, with a bunch of nieces and nephews too!) so she loves the chaos of a family get together. Though we live in different states, we talk frequently and love to get together for holidays.
We also love our “chosen family” made up of our best friends in Los Angeles. They support and love us unconditionally. Our friends play an important part in our life.
Thank you for taking the time to look through our profile. We have so much more to tell you about who we are. We would love to hear from you. We appreciate you and we truly wish the very best for you.
