Hi! We’re Hal & Rebecca from Los Angeles, California. Thank you for taking time to get to know us. We deeply respect your brave and loving decision and can only imagine what a difficult choice this must be. Rather than have our own biological children, we’ve decided that adoption is the right path for us. Your courage has given us hope that we’ll have the chance to build the family we’ve always dreamed of, and we’re so excited to share our love, laughter and zest for life with a little one!
Dear Birth Mother
With Us, Your Child Will...
- Be accepted unconditionally for who they are
- Learn respect, empathy and kindness
- Develop a strong work ethic and sense of purpose
- Try new things and discover their passions
- Explore their creativity and find their unique talents
- Have fun and laugh!
We met the old-fashioned way...online. Our first date took place at an Irish pub, and we said if it went well, maybe we’d grab a bite. Spoiler Alert: we grabbed that bite. Very early on there was a strong connection. Laughter came easy and we both felt like we could really be ourselves around each other. Not only did we bond, but our dogs became friends too! Hal brought one dog into the relationship and Rebecca had two, although the arrangement took a little getting used to. In an attempt to show him who’s boss, Rebecca’s dog Wayne peed on Hal, which was pretty hilarious.
After a year of movies, art, baseball, travel, canines, and love, Hal proposed to Rebecca on top of a Ferris wheel. She said yes! Our families flew in from Chicago and the East Coast for our intimate wedding celebration at home. Every detail of our wedding was personal, especially the cake, which featured the dogs, our house, our interests (sneakers, golf), and a xenomorph because Hal loves the movie ALIENS. We’ve been married for three years, and we can’t wait to share our happily ever after with a child!
Our Fun Facts
- We love dogs!
- We have a bobblehead doll collection
- We got engaged at the top of a Ferris wheel
- We love karaoke, though neither of us can sing
- We love dressing up as movie characters for Halloween
Meet Rebecca, by Rebecca
I grew up in Chicago, and studied theater and journalism in college and graduate school. I am a documentary filmmaker, and though I travel for shoots, I mostly work from home. Through my work, I’ve had the chance to meet all sorts of people and I feel blessed to be able to tell their stories. I speak French and Spanish fluently, and I get away with really bad Italian. I look forward to teaching our child these languages and traveling to countries where they’ll get a chance to practice!
My parents introduced me to golf when I was little, and I played competitively in college and beyond. Through golf, I developed a strong bond with my dad, Richard, who was also my coach. My parents were married for 39 years until my dad passed away after a four-year battle with cancer. Giving back is important to me, and to honor my dad, I volunteer with an organization where I give one-on-one support to cancer caregivers. Helping others is an important value that I look forward to instilling in my children.
More About Rebecca, by Hal
It may sound silly, but Rebecca completes me. She has enriched my life in so many ways, and I know she will help a child flourish. Her sense of responsibility and attention to detail have added a structure and foundation to our home. Rebecca’s joy and enthusiasm for life makes me smile every day.
I am excited to raise a child with this woman. The space she gives me to truly be myself will also allow a child to grow into a confident individual. Additionally, Rebecca makes life special.
From her wizardry in the kitchen, to her enthusiasm for holidays, special occasions, or just a random Tuesday night, our home overflows with joy. Whether she is bursting into song, playing with our pups, or making the perfect omelet, she proves to me day after day that she will be an amazing mother.
Meet Hal, by Hal
I am a comedian, host and writer, grew up in New Jersey and became interested in show-business at an early age. My father was a concert producer and nostalgia buff, and he took our family to see Broadway shows and instilled a love of cinema in me. Before he passed away, my dad also loved baseball, and that love of baseball has been passed down to me and my two brothers, Scott and Eric.
When I’m not writing comedy, interviewing celebrities and performing, I take great joy in teaching aspiring writers and performers. I work from home and have a flexible schedule,
which means I get to spend a lot of time with Rebecca and the pups. I look forward to being present for the baby’s firsts: Their first words, their first steps and the first time they poop in the tub!
More About Hal, by Rebecca
Hal is genuine, kind and loving, and he makes me laugh every day. We got married right before Covid, and every day with him is an adventure.
On an emotional level, Hal has built a rock-solid foundation for our family. He’s very open and expressive with his feelings, whether it’s an elaborate Valentine’s Day display on our dining room table, or talking to his mom multiple times a day, or just cuddling with our pups, Hal shows everyone in his life how much he loves them. Listening to him coach his students is incredible - he knows how to give constructive feedback in a positive way that inspires them to take their game to the next level. His empathy, compassion and kindness is something I know he’ll bring to our family as a father.

About Our Family
By Rebecca: My mom, Maddi, lives in Chicago, along with my older sister Susan. My brother Dan lives in Madison, Wisconsin. I have three uncles and loads of cousins, and every year we spend Christmas Eve at my Uncle Lou’s house. Lou’s wife, Judy, has a massive collection of Christmas trinkets, and she pulls out all the stops when it comes to holiday displays... She even has fake snow!
By Hal: I have a big family, with three sisters and two brothers. We’re lucky because my brother Eric and his wife Tamika, and my sister Bonnie and her husband Billy, live here in LA. The rest are all on the East Coast, except for my sister, Lisa, who lives in Germany. My mom Deb lives in New Jersey, and I get to visit a few times a year. Deb has a great sense of humor, and I often invite her to co-host live streams with me. She’s looking forward to spending a lot of time in Los Angeles with her new grandchild.
Things We Love to Do with Family and Friends
- Trying new restaurants
- Going to concerts and plays
- Hosting Thanksgiving dinner and the Superbowl
- Playing golf and tennis
- Traveling together
Oh, do we love California! We live in a close-knit community in the heart of Los Angeles, California. Our neighbors are like family and most of them have small kids, so we often get together for the holidays, movie nights or pool parties.
Our home is a reflection of us and our diverse interests: It’s full of art; Hal’s bobblehead doll collection is displayed in the living room; and we have lots of books about pop culture and cooking throughout the house.
We love to decorate for the holidays, even though it’s just the two of us. We identify as Jewish, but Rebecca’s family celebrates Christmas, and we’re looking forward to experiencing the joy of the holidays through a child’s eyes.
Lucci and Lil’ Wayne: Lucci is a 13.5-year-old Lhasa Apso who weighs 20lbs, and Lil’ Wayne is a 6-year-old, 15lb Shih-Tzu mix Rebecca rescued when he was 2. Lil’ Wayne came with that name (the shelter staff really liked rap music), and Rebecca couldn’t bring herself to change it, though we do call him by many different nicknames, like Weenie, Beans and Peter. Rebecca’s dad gave Lucci to her when he was battling cancer, and she can feel his love live on in Lucci.
Millie: When we first met, Rebecca had two dogs and Hal was in the process of rescuing Millie, a 13-year-old Maltese mix. Though she passed away recently, Hal made the last four years of her life really special. When Millie had difficulty walking, he carried her in a baby bjorn so she wouldn’t feel left out!
