Hello! We are Kris and Matt from Los Angeles, California. Thank you for getting to know us. We can only imagine how overwhelming this must feel and are so impressed with your amazing courage. We are very excited that you are considering us as adoptive parents to your child and are hopeful that you will feel a connection.
After many years together, we are choosing adoption to grow our family because we’ve always wanted to be parents and were unable to have children biologically. We hope you find comfort in knowing that we are ready to open our hearts and home to provide unconditional love to your child.
Even though we don’t know you yet, we know you are making a plan for your child out of selflessness and love. We can promise you that your child will be raised with unlimited love, compassion, and respect.
We met while filming a modern-day western movie on location in a small town in Eastern Texas. It was the summer of 2012 and the temperature was well over 100 degrees every day! Kris was the costume designer of the film and had one of the only air-conditioned trailers on location. Matt was a camera assistant and they noticed one another during lunch breaks when the whole crew would smush into her wardrobe trailer for relief from the heat. This immediate chemistry led us to spending time together away from work, exploring the region and getting to know each other. Upon wrapping up the film, we returned to Los Angeles and continued our courtship.
Once back in Los Angeles, our relationship moved quickly. By Christmas, Kris traveled with Matt to the Chicagoland area to meet his family and do a whirlwind Chicago pizza tour. Matt’s family is very serious about their pizza! Matt then met Kris’ family the following year when they returned to Kentucky to film commercials for the family car dealership and to attend Hillbilly Days. After living together for almost 5 years we officially married in 2017 and love to tell the story of how we met on a “hot” set.
As a couple, we enjoy attending live theatre, sushi dinner dates, hiking, and traveling. While traveling, we like to visit museums and historical landmarks, eat the native cuisine, and make friends with the locals we encounter. At home we relish watching classic movies and look forward to sharing our love of food and culture with our expanded family.
I grew up in a small town in eastern Kentucky with big city dreams and aspirations. I attended college and graduate school at the University of Kentucky where I majored in theatre. After graduation I opened a theatre costume rental business in Kentucky. After several successful years in business, I sold the company in order to follow my dream to work in film and television. Upon moving to Los Angeles, I pursued both acting and costume design but in recent years costume design has been my main passion.
Because my work is from project to project, I can be choosy about which jobs I accept. This will allow me the flexibility to be an at-home- parent during the first few years. Some of my hobbies include cooking, sewing, refurbishing old homes, and reading with the cats and dogs surrounding me.
Kris is an incredible person who is compassionate and strong-willed. She is extremely intelligent and savvy with a knack for knowing how to best support our family. Kris has immeasurable love for our pets and is always in tune with their needs. Even when she is busy, she plans and cooks all the meals for our household. Her meatloaf is the best you’ll ever eat. I am confident that she will instill a sense of curiosity and wonder in our future child
through reading to them and playing with them. I am excited to witness her growth as a person through the invaluable experience of parenting.

I grew up on the south side of Chicago among my large extended family. I attended Columbia College Chicago before moving to Los Angeles to work behind the scenes in entertainment as a camera assistant. I am consistently busy with work and union activism but am able to choose the projects which I take, offering some flexibility once a child is part of our family. I enjoy mentorship, hiking, music, and spending quality time with family.
Matt is generous and devoted to me and our family of pets. Before meeting Matt my life felt incomplete. His presence has greatly improved me and all aspects of my existence. He is clever and hard-working, but is still a kid at heart. Children are drawn to him. During family and social events any children present wind up around Matt. I cannot wait to see him sharing experiences with our future child; teaching them how to play board games, ride a bike, coaching them in sports, listening to his favorite music, and passing along our love for animals.

Matt’s parents, Tom and Anita, have been married for 38 years. They recently moved across the country to live with us. We love having them in our home because every night is family night. They are very excited to become first-time grandparents and share their love with our future child.
Kris’ mother, Carol Jean, and adoptive father, Gary, were married for 35 years until Carol Jean’s passing in 2009. Gary still resides in Kentucky but is retired and lives to travel. We have a bedroom ready and waiting for his visits. He cannot wait to be called Paw-Paw.

We live in West Hills, California, which is a small suburb of Los Angeles. We love that this location is not in the thick of things but we can easily access downtown, Hollywood or the beaches. We live in a newly remodeled six-bedroom home, which offers us plenty of space for our expanding family. Our home is located on a cul-de-sac and has a private, fenced-in backyard. Our neighborhood is very quiet and filled with family homes. There are two parks in the immediate neighborhood where children and animals play impromptu games and climb on the playground equipment.
Our sub-division backs up to Orcutt Ranch Horticultural Center and Community Garden, which is where we got married, so we regularly see squirrels, bunnies, raccoons, skunks and the rare coyote in our neighborhood. The public and private schools in our area are highly rated and very desirable; this was a large factor when we bought this house four years ago.
Love and compassion for animals is something we are excited to share with our future child. We have a small zoo with three dogs and five cats! Percy (dark grey) and Quinn (tan) are the rescue chihuahuas and Sadie is the black golden doodle. All three dogs are friendly with other pets, people, and children. Percy and Sadie are young and very energetic, while Quinn is an older lap dog. Each cat is special in her own way (yes, they are all girls). Xena (tuxedo tabby), Gabrielle (tortie), and Fizbo (tabico) are adolescent rescues who are very playful and friendly with everyone. Mü (tuxedo) is a cat that we took in from a friend and she is a little shy. Pepper (tabby) is an even more shy, reclusive cat that has the softest fur when/if she lets you pet her.
We are grateful to you for taking the time to read about us. We are ready to welcome your baby into our loving home. Parenthood is a journey that we are very excited to embark upon! Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents to your child.
